Milann's life keeps getting in the way.......

I’d hoped to come back and sleep in the newly decorated bedroom- but it’s not going to happen. Still haven’t got any curtain rails or turned up curtains.I need to tidy everything back into the shed and then tackle the rest of the house. My energy is zilch today and tbh I don’t much feel like going away tomorrow. I’d rather stay and get everything sorted at home…..so WHO am I turning into 🤷♀️I was wide awake again from 4. Thought I’d make the most of it and got up and went to a SlimmingWorld group at 7 am this morning 👍I’d lost 1 1/2lb…..which I’m pleased with as it’s only 4 days. I also won slimmer of the week…..a couple of packets of pasta, beans, cous cous and 2 home grown sweetcorn but there were only 6 people that stayed to group. I was happy with that.
I’ve been sticking to a big bowl of porridge and then having SW friendly meals. I’ve just eaten a big plate of chips, beans, bacon and tomatoes. I was cold tired and needed comfort food. Using my actifry it worked out at 1 1/2 syns 😃 I’ve brought my ironing board downstairs and plan to tackle the massive ironing pile whilst watching a film now I’m nicely warmed up. Then I’ll tackle everything else….what’s not done can be put in the bedroom with the door closed until i get home at weekend.January spends - £587.581 -

Had a great few days away. It was very relaxed yet we still did a fair bit - mostly sitting in pubs though or driving from place to place. We were both absolutely shattered after the decorating and needed to chill. We were in bed crashed out by 9.30 each night - we know how to party 😂😂😂😂
There was a music festival in the town - every kind of music you could think of playing gigs in different pubs. We watched quite a few great vocal/ guitarist groups and a ukulele band. There was something for everyone. We visited some nice places and had a mixture of weather. We found a smokehouse and bought some lovely smoked fish. There was a park we visited and it was pouring with rain….there was the most amazing view out to sea which was several miles away and there were blue skies there - so we headed to see the sea. We came home yesterday as it was raining quite badly and we knew we still had things to do at home. Although we were only away 2 nights it felt longer in a good way. We didn’t travel on the motorway on the way home but travelled through some amazing countryside. Don’t think our few days away will have given me a weight loss though 😏Once home we went up to do a bit more of the bedroom and Dh had a brainwave. Instead of putting the curtains into the bay as before. We are putting them on the straight wall I front if it. Not sure what it’ll look like but it’ll be different. So we sent one pair of curtains back and ordered a longer pair. They’ll arrive on Thursday. It’ll make it much easier for Dh to hang them as we have great problems getting rails to fit in the bay space. We nipped to JLewis for some material to make a cover for the window seat…..they still sell curtain material but no longer stock dressmaking material. I was gutted. I had to console myself with a free coffee and cake whilst there 😃 I don’t buy it often but do get fabric from there occasionally. Virtually nowhere sells fabric anymore around here. I do have a shop nearby but it’s pot luck when it’s open. A lady owns it and just opens as and when she fancies.I had a phone call from a relative who expects us to do all the running around. Anyway she said she still has my birthday present there (accusingly because I hadn’t been to pick it up) anyway the upshot is I’m meeting her tomorrow at the big shopping mall near her house. I might go ear and have a nosey as I haven’t been for a while.I have made a lovely Persian meal today and ds came around. He bought me the book for my birthday so I thought I’d give some of the recipes a go….lamb with dates and chilli (you wouldn’t have known there was any chilli in there 👍😀) spiced rice and orzo and broccoli with lemon and tahini sauce. It feels like ages since I’ve cooked anything special.January spends - £587.581 -
Glad you had a nice time. I go to bed at 9pm most nights so 9.30 is late to me 😆
We gave up putting our curtains in the bays a few years ago and just have a pole going across the straight bit. I actually prefer it that way and it’s so much easier. Even better now we have window seats built into both bays.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1 -
My non DIY able friend has put his curtains across the bay too. It looks great, very tidy and you don't notice the loss of space when you're asleep anyway....1

Glad you had a good couple of nights away.1

Yesterday I met Dh family member - I saw what a sad, lonely old lady she has become. I’m not a particular fan as she has created havoc over the years and has alienated most of her family but I felt sorry for her. We spent a fair amount of time just sitting chatting. We usually go away to dds for Christmas but this year dd and family are staying with us. Relative has said she isn’t welcome at her children’s so is going to try and book a single meal at a hotel. I’m torn whether to ask her to us too. I can’t leave her on her own at Christmas but she causes trouble in an empty room, and NOTHING is ever good enough. I think I’ll tell Dh I’m happy to have her and let him decide….she might still prefer a hotel after the predicted chaos with our houseful.
I did spend cash - she bought the dinner and I bought numerous coffees. She kept looking at a lovely leather handbag in F@tf@ce….not my colour which was green but I liked the style. All the others in the range were half price…this was full price. She wouldn’t buy it as it wasn’t reduced and wouldn’t ask at the till. Anyway she went home and I popped back to the shop and asked about it….twas reduced to £28 so that’s her birthday present sorted. It’s a bit more than I’d usually pay but I’ll average it out by spending a little less at Christmas. She asked us to go for a meal on her birthday as otherwise she won’t see anyone but we’re away. How can somebody who used to be the centre of her family become so isolated. It’s so important to keep busy…and have hobbies for yourself….life can be cruel. I don’t think she has any friends by the sound of it 😕
I need to pop around to a friends later to drop a silver wedding card off. I want to take a double quilt which I’m going to use a mattress protector to the launderette for a clean….1 too many cups of tea dribbled on it 😳 I was going to get rid of it then the mattress protector popped into my head. I also want to look to see if the material shop is open for material to cover the window seat. I was looking at throws in Primarni and if I can’t get any other material I’m playing with the idea of sewing a cover from a couple of these. So other than a quick trip out to do a couple of jobs I’m planning a lazy day. I’m absolutely shattered.January spends - £587.582 -
Such a shame about the family member. It does sound as though she has pushed people away though, maybe not on purpose.
I hope that she doesn't decide to spend Christmas alone and takes up your kind offer.1
