We had some really heavy downpours yesterday but I did manage to get a short walk along the river between showers.
Ds came around and I made a full roast complete with rhubarb and ginger cake and custard which was delicious 😋 it was an eye opener though as standing and cooking a full meal really took it out of me. I could hardly move by the time I’d finished and I sat whilst sorting the veg. I really need to build the muscles around my middle, standing doesn’t do my hip much good either. I have been cooking but quick and easy meals and using a lot of home made ready meals. Dh does a lot of cooking too so it’s been a while since I’ve spent so long standing in the kitchen.
We were on the phone to gks and it was a bit of a mad half hour of giddiness when the house phone rang - 6 pm on a Sunday - it was the hip consultants secretary….I was on the defensive when I answered as I thought it was a scam phone call……certainly didn’t expect to be getting a hospital appointment for another steroid injection which is in August 👍 👍👍
    Today
Breakfast - toast and lemon curd
    Dinner - ham salad
Tea - stewed steak, cabbage and new potatoes

    Spends…..non planned

Exercise - pottering in the garden between showers

Positive thought - thankful for a  lazy day 😀

Thank you for the cake idea. I have plenty of rhubarb so I'm going to make one of those later in the week.

Just popping in to say I love buttons. My favourite supplier of handmade buttons is McAnaraks dot com. Can change a plain garment into something unique. And my favourite courgette recipe is Courgette Fritters

Thanks Paspatur - I’ll look that site up.
I thought of you with the cat faced buttons Beanie 😃
Yesterday’s meals and spends went to plan but it rained virtually all day so no pottering in the garden to be had. What did happen was non stop snacking on rubbish…..I need to get some will power from somewhere to break the habit.
Today has been pretty much the same - if I loose an ounce this week it’ll be a miracle - never mind the 1 1/2lb I wanted to loose.
    Today
    breakfast - egg on toast
dinner - ham and cheeses salad
tea -  left over new potatoes, with onion, chopped sausage and a bit of hp sause all stir fried together - mushroom on the side
snacking should have been fruit but it’s been fruit, biscuits and chocolate bars 😏
Spends will be milk and cold meat from Aldi

Exercise - I’m just prising myself out of the chair to make myself walk to the chemist, Aldi  and onto my local lockdown walk - where I haven’t been for a long long time.

Feeling a bit meh with the world today. I think I’m half pleased yet half scared about the lifting of restrictions. For some reason I was still wide awake until 4.05 — that’s the last time I remember looking at my watch this morning. Must have managed about 3 hours sleep.

My parasol has arrived - it was only ordered at weekend and I was expecting a 2 week delivery slot. Just need that base now and to clear a few more bits from the garden and my shady nook can begin to take shape…..just need some sunshine ordering too 😃 can’t have a shady nook without sunshine 🌞

I think everyone is a bit worried/pleased/confused about lock down ending (and the differences between England, Scotland and Wales…it will make for some confused holiday makers). MrWW’s inner hermit is loudly rebelling against the end of social distancing! It will be quite strange to go out in the world again.
I am also snacking for England 😖

I had my walk and bought a cuppa sitting watching the moorhen chicks. It was piddling down but I was sheltered under a big tree. I sat on my carrier bag so I didn’t get a wet behind either 👍 By the time I’d finished my drink there was blue sky again. It was very therapeutic watching the rain on the water. There was a definite difference though as there was a plane going over every couple of minutes….whereas it was relatively quiet other than birdsong during the strictest lockdown. I’m under the flight path of a big airport.
I ended up spending £15.50 in Aldi…..most I did need but I’m not too sure about the chocolate bars I bought. I’d forgotten I wasn’t in the car and on my own so really struggled getting the shopping home…..it’s only a short walk away. Glad it’s an easy tea 👍
