Losing friends...

I remember having a friend who got insanely jealous whenever I met a new friend. I dropped the friendship long before settling down with a woman. Just as I would not drop absolutely everything to be with a woman, the same would apply to all my friends regardless of gender.
Who needs a friend who gets jealous over the fact I have friends and family?
Good post. And some very good points... :T0 -

I think you must be being deliberately obtuse.
In the example given, you need to get to the hospital and your children also need to be cared for so this is an emergency where you need outside help from friends, family or neighbours. You wouldn't need that if there weren't children involved.0 -

Not so critical as making sure children are cared for but still necessary, I would have thought.0 -
Maybe a childless person has a dog that would need walking/feeding in an emergency.

An emergency is just that 1-2 hours time.
In that time a child could kill itself 10x over.
A dog would probably be a bit hungry and maybe had a !!!! in the corner.
Hardly end of the world!0 -
If you had a pet fish\dog\cat and you were likely to be hospitalised for a few days\weeks, you may ask a friend if it is possible to go round and look after them. But phone me at 3am to ask something as mundane as that, losing the friendship would be the very least of your troubles.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

You might be stuck in town after a night out, unable to get back home, and decide to ring your friend who lives nearby at 3am to see if you can stay the night instead of waiting in some dodgy bus-shelter somewhere until the buses start running again.left the forum due to trolling/other nonsense
