But that isn't what the majority of the leave campaign want, in my opinion,

Leave haven't got the foggiest idea what they actually want. The entire campaign is based around negativity and rejecting things.

I think a reasonable person, would not make the association that says having the same objectives on a single issue referendum, implies agreement on all other matters.

    I'm sure you agree.

However should a toxic person wish to make that association but on one side only, then it is reasonable to point out the equally toxic people on the other side.

I'm sure that if, you could suspend your increasing irrational attachment to toxic 'remain' people, that you would agree too.

But your post starts with an error, a lie that has been sold by the leave campaign. The goals of the EU may at this point be closer political union but this is not something the UK is or will be pursuing as we have agreed not to. We will most certainly leave the EU before that can be forced on us and so it won't be.

Not at all - even if the rest of the EU persues closer union but lets the uk remain outside what sort of organisation will we be in when it consists of two states, the UK and the US of E? I suspect our relationship would then be pretty much like the Soveit Bloc countries and Russia used to be or Porto Rica and the US.....
    I think....

Heavy, theundery showers forecast for tomorrow afternoon/evening - I suggest both sides try and get theri vote out early.

Seems odd that our future democracy may be determined by heavy rain putting off some voters....

I don't know what sort of relationship it will be and neither do you but it is all speculation because we have agreed with the EU to not be part of ever closer union and can still just leave entirely if things are not what we wished for.

At the moment however, things are as they are and so the options I presented as choices are valid. We would have seen a much clearer picture of how people really feel than currently.

In answer to the OP, nobody knows for certain what will happen, but if we stay it will just be more of the same and perhaps worse 'cos they know we can't escape.....

Instead of Brexit leaflets, maybe they should have sent out disposable macs... :)

5 million jobs in the EU depend on the UK's membership. When lots of people lose their jobs, governments don't get re-elected.

We'll see how EU governments react when faced with that prospect.

In the event of an exit the most likely outcome for both sides is less trade with each other and more domestic production. The job losses on both sides will be less than thought because for most traded goods there is a two way flow. Eg the UK both imports and exports lots of bottled water. Instead of big job losses on both sides its more likely a much smaller loss and more domestic production and consumption for both sides.

If we stay in we'll be 'punished' by the EU as we'll have just given away any bargaining power we ever had. It will be a green light for quicker integration and we'll have no say in it despite Remain believing we're better at the table.

How can a group of 27 countries with different priorities and needs ever evolve and change? Certainly the businesses I see with more Directors fare much worse than those with a few or better still just the one who can see the issue and makes the change... we can be much more Dynamic...

Regardless of who wins tomorrow I wish I could see a month or two ahead, and I bet it would be calm and business as usual ... wondering what the fuss was all about and why the sky didn't actually fall in!

The EU will in open new membership talks with Turkey as planned in a few days, EU diplomatic sources said Wednesday, just as Ankara's accession becomes a hot-button issue in Britain's vote on its future in the bloc.
One source, who asked not to be named, told AFP that EU member states will meet June 30 to agree to open a new negotiating chapter with Turkey on finance and budget affairs.
European Union leaders pledged in March to speed up Turkey's long-stalled membership talks as part of an accord on tackling the migration crisis, promising to open at least one new chapter by the end of June.
