Well they did spend quite a large amount of money on bailing them out that the EU Governments will never get back.
Most of the money went to repay French and German banks.
It probably doesn't feel much of a bail-out for the Greek people.
Still, it keeps 'the project' intact. That's the important bit.If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0 -

Looking at countries like The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, what we call 'Old Europe', you'll find that:
- their child benefits are higher
- their pensions are more generous
- their out of work benefits are higher
- their maternity/paternity rights and pay are better
- their healthcare is better
Kind of blows the argument out of the water that immigrants come to the UK for our excellent benefits.
What I have never understood is why so many immigrants/refugees pass through wonderful country's with very solid and supporting social welfare programmes such as Germany, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg and France to risk their life clinging to the bottom of a Lorry to get in to England.
Social support is NOT better in the UK.
Perhaps it's because of ALL OF EUROPE the UK is the only Country without an National Identy Card system??There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
does the opposite really
as I dont see many people coming here to work from these country's
France, Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg
Have you never heard of the phrase "London is the 4th largest French City after Paris, Marseille and Lyon. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

I notice you fail to mention 'in work benefits' and our talent in the UK for creating loads of jobs that require wages to be topped up by the State.
Hello Tromking
As a UK Citizen living outside the UK, I have difficulty understanding how the UK has a benefits system unlike any other. Isn't that the fault of the UK Government AND NOT the EU?
It appears to me that the European Union is being blamed for the payment of "in work benefits" that has nothing to do with it.
It's like blaming the Captain of the Titanic for the colour of the deck chairs. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

No-one, other than yourself, is blaming the EU for our benefits system.
some are claiming that the benefits system encourages foreigners to migrate to the UK.
You may or may not think that this is so.0 -
The real issue, as I see with my own eyes daily, is that the British fair minded sensibility makes it far easier to claim and fiddle the system here.
Try claiming benefits as a foreigner in Holland or France and you will be met with institutional scepticism and red tape.
Day after day fresh immigrants come into the lettings agents office within my office uttering the immortal words 'do you take housing benefit'0 -
how is that relevant?
are you saying those people would sit at home if those benefits weren't available?
some people would be worse off without their ''top up''“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”
