There is absolutely nothing there for good reason, there is no need currently. But if you want to make sure that EU citizens cannot enter the UK without being checked that they have the relevant visas to do so (leave to enter) then you HAVE to have border checks at every entry point, and if you're going to abandon N.Ireland and allow EU citizens to roam across the border at a minimum I would then expect to see border checks on flights and ferry crossings from N.Ireland to Britain otherwise it's a completely porous border, more so than any other even whilst we remain within the EU. It seems you're advocating such a bizarre situation.
currently what checks are there for non EU foreigners crossing from Eire to NI or indeed England?
before Eire joined the EU what checks where there?0 -
... Fact is if it wasnt for the EU this govmt would have privatised much more than it has...
"Indeed, the sale of government assets this year will deliver the largest privatisation proceeds of all time, higher than the previous record in 1987." Said Mr Gideon in his 2015 budget.
Doesn't seem to be much of a constraint..... Thatchers policies would never have been implemented in a federation. The basis of a federation is compromise, tacking to the middle, there would never be a right wing movement taking over, even if individual countries elected such types within their own borders....
I think you'll find that the EU is pretty Thatcherite. In fact, it's a darned sight more Thatcherite than our current government or indeed the previous one, and certainly the one before that.0 -

Hmm, they're a bit coy about who's on.
Apparently the organisers haven't been telling the bands what the gig is for and they are getting a bit miffed once they find out:

Since the article was written East 17, 5ive, Alesha Dixon and Sister Sledge have all pulled out AIUI, leaving......erm...?0 -
Yes.
What about the EU setting Corp Tax rates.
Are you happy for the EU to allocate NI numbers for every EU citizen?
AS you cannot be bothered to read the ECOFIN Press Release.....
THIS MEASURE IS ABOUT CORPORATE TAX ABUSE
IT DOES NOT MENTION personal NI Numbers as far as I can see.
NI is a British term anyway.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

My wife is a non-EU citizen, it takes FOREVER to queue to get past passport control. EU citizens get through via another queue where the checks are just whether they are EU citizens or not, whether they are on any watch/wanted lists. Everyone gets checked one way or another, except between N.Ireland and ROI currently.0 -

Representatives chosen by the democratically elected governments.
And a democratically elected EU parliament.
And the EU council consisting of democratically elected EU leaders.
Pretty democratic I'd say.
You might think that the cabinet choosing our most powerful EU representative is democratic. I do not.
I don't believe that the head of the NHS was democratically elected to the position. They were chosen by the UK government, as was the UK commissioner for the EU.0 -

NI is a British term anyway.
In the EU it's called a Taxpayer Identification Number.
More about it here from Liam Fox.
