It's funny how conversations about the EU and trade all gravitate towards discussion about Germany.

Perhaps the real problem is Germany, and it is Germany which should leave the EU?

Germany will be fine I am sure. It's the Spanish and Danes and Irish who will be most concerned.

Well, we have a mid-range BMW and the sales guy tells us the natural replacement is now beyond £40K.

It wouldn't take much for us to look at Korean or JLR cars.

Can I see the UK press winding up the public if things go sour?

Hmm, let me think about that !

Much of which is to do with the drop in value of the pound against the Euro BMW cars "made" in Europe or The drop in value of the pound against the US dollars for BMW cars manufactured in the USA. ( I believe all the X Range)
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

You are quite right. Don't most of Britains fruit and some veg come from Spain. Britain will not stop buying Spanish tomatoes just because they will cost more, or will they?
If they do the effect on Spain and British sandwiches and salads will be catastrophic!

Nice to be light hearted for a change.

EU protectionist policy is most evident when it comes to fruit and veg IMO.

Argentina has apparently spotted an opportunity to increase food sales to UK if things go bad.

We seem to forget that problems for the UK are opportunities for other parts of the world.

You've changed the goalposts. If BMW's are becoming more expensive that's a different issue.

You won't be going Korean because you've been offended by Juncker.

There's nothing to stop these tomatoes coming from say Israel instead though, is there?
If Spanish tomatoes start to cost more.
So British sandwiches won't suffer - but how about Spanish tomato growers?

    Oh and stop attempting deceit.
No, "most" UK-sold fruit & veg does not come from Spain - we've had this already haven't we?

I've seen a marked change in the brand of cars bought in Canada over the last decade+.

There are a lot more SUVs from the East. Nobody looks down on a brand like Kia now.

My sister's fully specced Kia was $24,000 cheaper than the Volvo alternative.

I think it's purely a matter of time before we see cheap cars from China being sold here. That's really what should worry the European car makers.

It's more about the 10% levy on Korean cars. I don't know what Mr Juncker drives ;)

    Agreed.

The Chinese are starting on planes too.
Airbus has been suffering slow sales because of Boeing, how will they compete when China enters that market?
China's home-grown C919 passenger jet completed its long-delayed maiden flight on Friday, a major first step for Beijing as it looks to raise its profile in the global aviation market and boost high-tech manufacturing at home.
