Sorry can't remind you as it never happened. Why would you think it did. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

The difference is that in 1972 the UK made the parts too. Now the parts are made across the world, most often in the EU.
This is the fundamental problem that needs to be resolved post Brexit and it simply isn't being considered publicly. It's simply not good enough to leave on WTO rules as the example shows.
This isn't confined to cars. Anything from ready meals to TVs is potentially or probably impacted.
Given the size of the UK new car market isn't it plausible that UK based car manufacturers would look to sell into this market rather than exporting?
Bringing more of the supply chain into the UK would also be possible & potentially profitable.0 -
Meanwhile Germany "urges" the EU not to break off accession talks with Germany - although Austria and others say negotiations must be ditched:Germany on Friday urged fellow EU nations not to end membership talks with Turkey despite deep misgivings over its rights record because the country is key to European interests.
Another example of how united the EU really is.

Denmark's Finance Minister says they will not increase EU funding post-Brexit:Minister of Finance Kristian Jensen says he is determined that Britain’s imminent exit from the EU will not mean more expensive membership for Denmark.0

Don't worry, they will meet the rules for accessign, mainly because [STRIKE]germany[/STRIKE] the eu will change them to suit.
Apparently out of the last 15 countries to join less than half met the required criteria, this is what I have been told by contacts of an MP.
If the Euro joining rules had not been changed then places like Greece would not have been able to join, I am betting they are now wishing they had not joined the Euro that is designed to wreck all the economies except Germany in order to force unity. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

You can't even hint at Turkish membership here - you'll be accused of being alarmist!
(Despite the evidence.)0 -

Maybe the problem was caused by joining the Eu in the first place. Maybe we're not as smart or more likely we've been outmaneuvered by others bending EU rules (VW?), hidden subsidies?
No reason why we can't go back to making as many cars as we did half a century ago and the parts too.If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0
