I just love the irony.
Fair point but you also gotta love Clegg who was the main driver of a 'real referendum on the EU' in 2008 and also his preaching during the referendum campaign that a Norway style option (soft Brexit) would be the worst of all worlds.0 -

Doubt they do. More for the stability of the UK in the medium term.0 -
A good many Lords primary driver is grandstanding and virtue signalling, very often misaligned with the good common sense instincts of the wider public.
They don't give a fig for the fate of Brits abroad, as long as they get to collect virtue status points amongst Establishment cretins.
Off with their bloated heads.
As lovely as that sounds, that's not what I asked.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
We want British democracy!
<British democracy in action delays a50 by a week or two>
Down with British democracy. Let's change the system completely.0 -
Eurozone inflation jumped to 2% last month I see.Producer price inflation, which feeds into overall inflation with a lag, meanwhile surged to an annual 3.5 percent rate from 1.6 percent, hinting at building pressure for underlying price growth.
Since the Eurozone doesn't have the GB£'s recent devaluation, perhaps someone would be kind enough to explain why it should be that these similar levels of inflation are supposedly so bad for the UK and yet are not even worthy of comparison to the Eurozone when inflation is discussed in these forums?
In January for example, Eurozone inflation was 1.6% and the UK CPI 1.8% - a difference of 0.2%.
A drastic difference in rates it is not, yet predictions of doom and gloom persist.
So I await with interest the ONS's release due on 21st March to see the difference for February between the UK and the Eurozone.0 -
Also today, Sweden announce that they will reintroduce conscription from July. The defence minister said the move was in response to a deteriorating security environment in Europe.0

Regarding Article 50, and legislation:The spokesman said the prime minister was committed to her plan to trigger divorce talks by the end of March and said the Lords vote would not have any impact on that.
The opposition Liberal Democrat leader in the Lords agreed.
"This bill will go through, there has never been any question about it going through," !!!! Newby told Sky News.
"I think the Lords collectively will back off," he said. "The idea that ... this somehow jeopardises the 31 March deadline is complete baloney."0 -
Fascinating information today from politico.eu about New Zealand Lamb.
" Britain’s love of lamb chops will cause yet another Brexit headache. The U.K. eats almost half of the EU’s quota of lamb and goat meat from New Zealand and after it leaves the bloc, Brussels will either have to take in that meat — and annoy its farmers — or try to avoid doing so and face WTO sanctions"
Is this true? I had absolutely no idea that there was an EU quota of New Zealand lamb and goat meat.
Any New Zealan Lamb and Goat meat specialist on this thread? There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
