I'd call it Nationalism. Globalisation has benefited only the new elite.0 -
The thing is, though, what do you do to replace us and our tax bills?
Your Company way well relocate parts of the organisation elsewhere on commercial grounds. Absolutely nothing to do with the EU membership. Labour is now global. China and India adding 2.5 billion people to the global labour force alone since the early 90's. People aspire to your standard of living. They have the hunger and desire to succeed. They won't expend energy whinging and complaining. A new world brings with it new challenges. Adapt or wither on the vine. Simple choice to make.0 -

Maybe one day they will catch up with us, form a government and start naming and shaming companies who employ immigrants or labeling foreign nationals as bargaining chips.
They might even get a prime minister stating "if you believe you are a citizen of the world, you’re a citizen of nowhere".
Who knows.
or maybe we will catch up with them : and force foreigners and locals to register their address with the police/authorities whenever they move
or require id cards to be carried
or that don't acknowledge joint adoption for same sex marriages
or that don't accept joint citizenship
or you could celebrate that of the million refugees that arrived in German last year, less than 40,000 have jobs
and of course you could celebrate the generous people of the UK who didn't like the idea of naming and shaming companies that give preference to non UK born employeees.
but you will always want to find fault with the people of the UK.0 -

If German industry is faced with interruption of trade with a market of 60 million, compared with interruption of trade with a market of 400 million, the choice is obvious.
Obvious to all, except our resident brexit headbangers.
That doesn't even make any sense.
Theres no such choice.0 -

Is it? Who would BMW sell their cars to (for example). There's not the market elsewhere in Europe.0 -
The EU has offered the possibility of granting EU citizenship to UK citizens, and there will still be some way for skilled workers to migrate from UK->EU. It's only the UK that wants to reduce migrants, here.
First part - bribery, pure & simple. "Offered". Remind us all, will they discuss rights for those UK citizens that are currently ALSO EU citizens living in Europe but outside the UK?
And no we are not the only ones wanting to reduce migration, by far. Hungary; Austria; Holland, France ........... I suggest you read more.
Yup. It might not have any UK branches, though. Like I said, I'm going to wait and see rather than jumping ship, because I know that option is going to be open to me (it's going to be easier to leave UK than enter later, since you're so keen to keep the numbers down).
You really may not get the option, despite what you now believe. Even if you are an EU passport holder rather than a UK passport holder.
I'm pointing out that Brexit may loose you contributors and not just jobs. My tax take is insignificant compared to, say, Jeremy Clarkson. But it's still a net contribution, and thus if you lose enough of us you're going to start hurting. That's not too difficult a concept I assume? Assuming, "Tax burden = total expendatures / tax payers", then a decrease in tax payers will result in an increase of tax burden?
Again you cannot have it both ways. The UK would have to lose significant numbers of workers AND jobs without any replacement or alternatives at all for this to have any serious effect.
As in millions.
That without considering that a lower population needs less supporting infrastructure and so less tax burden, not increased.
Nah, it could be done anywhere.
Enough said.
The forseeable future anyway. Until robots can build themselves, at least. By that point we'll have more important things to worry about.
Ah, but robots do already build other robots don't they? It may not take as much tech. advancement as you think.
It's certainly seemed that way from my involvement with it. But then I've never been there fore more than a few weeks at a time, in a personal and work capacity.
Farcical broad-brush statement as usual. See post 15888 for a suitable response.
Given the population size, I'm OK with that. Are you really trying to imply that England is more liberal than, say, Holland or Germany?
Having lived in both countries myself that is a definite YES. In many ways that matter the UK is more liberal, without doubt.
Fair enough, feel free to ignore me.
My thoughts highlighted in red above.
You know, I am beginning to think that what MSJ says in 15885 is correct; "a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal, on-topic discussion,[3] often for the troll's amusement." (From Wiki).
That does appear to be all that you do for much of your posts.

" Europe seems to be a lot more liberal than England".
Now I KNOW you're trolling!
There are quite literally thousands of examples that prove how totally incorrect you are.
You just proved yourself to be no longer worthy of serious debate.
BTW I have lived in various parts of western europe for up to three years at a time.
I do have direct and personal experience.
And no, I am not anti-european.
I am however anti-EU.
Interesting that France and Italy are now being threatened with a huge fine by the EU dictatorship if they decide to leave their political project. How does blackmail like that sit with the remainders like Cleg-fly, Tiny Tim, the drunken Soubry, Bliar, tax-exile Branson, many wealthy labour party politicians, Sturgeon, etc, then? I suppose as long as they think they'll benefit personally, democracy and being part of a dictatorship don't matter, and they'll find some other excuse to try and squirm a way out of complying with the wishes of the majority. Wonderful!
France and Italy should pay the EU dictatorship their 'fines' in Euros, then the next day revert to their own currencies…
We need to get out as quickly as possible. :eek:0 -

That`ll be Burqa banning France and Belgium, mosque banning Switzerland or Frau Merkel`s Germany currently considering making foreign EU citizens in Germany wait 5 years before gaining full access to their welfare state? Perhaps your talking about Spain and their penchant for jeering black English footballers and Lewis Hamilton?
How about the Parisian Jews leaving France and moving to the UK?
The Remoaner Brexit narrative is laughable, I`m embarrassed for you.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

They really are just hurt snowflakes. The world isn't the way they believe it is.0 -
No one seems to have any good economic news to post.
We keep getting some bad news. Like this...
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/brexit-to-cost-britain-more-than-5-of-gdp-by-2030-say-city-economists-a7541616.html
"Analysts from three City of London financial institutions expect the cost of Theresa May's hard Brexit to add up to between 5 per cent and 10 per cent of GDP by 2030.
In today's money that's equivalent to between £100bn and £200bn.
This is an estimate of the loss of GDP relative to where the economy would have been without Brexit."
For Brexiteers.
1) They are experts
2) it's an estimate
3) it hasn't happened yet, like the new trade deals.
4) who cares, we only take notice of good news. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0
