Indeed. But then, he's no idea what kind of crazy deal May might go for, and if he guarantees EU access to Brits, then he'll have issues if May gets a deal that involves completely closed borders.

May still hasn't said anything about whether EU citizens will have leave to remain in the UK, either.

I was talking about the brits that currently live in the EU27 and the Eu27 citizens that currently live in the UK; as I would see it the future border arrangements don't come into it.

May seems to be saying that she wants a reciprocal deal but as I see it Tusk is refusing to discuss this.

Haven't seen much about it, but is this just a case of saying no discussions until Article 50 is invoked?

there is certainly a logic about that : I suppose Tusk could have said that the matter could be sympathetically considered once article 50 was invoked.
I suppose most the the EU people in the UK are fairly relazed knowing that they are unlikley to be kicked out of our liberal tolerant society.

And Merkel is refusing a deal which would give reassurance to all expats whether they are British or citizens of other EU countries.

So who is causing the problem? It doesn't look like the little Englanders.

The 27 remaining members of the EU have been consistent in saying NO NEGOTIATIONS before A50. So no talks before end of March 2017. This has been restated so many times.
As I am someone directly effected this is something I am very aware of it.

This was clearly stated in the following days/weeks after the referendum. NO NEGOTIATIONS until article 50 is triggered. That has been and still is the position of the EU 27. I have to wait until the end of March 2017 when perhaps PM May will actually pull the trigger. Perhaps!!!

And perhaps by then a few more wheels of the EU gravy train will have fallen off.:)

It's good to see that the EU tradition of political manoeuvring over protecting the citizens is still going strong.

Me too. See my location in my profile.

That said, I don't have the slightest concern that I will be able to remain where I am for as long as I wish. The possibility that people will be forcibly repatriated (which the GERMAN chancellor of all people implied yesterday) is zero.

Well all Prime minister May has to do is trigger article 50 and then the guarantees could be given. No one is forcing her to wait till March but the government's own indecisiveness.

The EU is just sticking to what they said. Nothing can be discussed before article 50 is triggered. That seems fair enough.
