If we vote for Brexit what happens

This is probably your number one blind-spot, as you will find out. Think of all the fuss over a few thousand jobs at risk due to Chinese steel dumping, nothing compared to the huge number engaged in trade with UK
I don't think you quite get it though; we don't hold the EU over a barrel on their trade, because we're talking about forcing some of their companies to make some smallish cost cutting measures, and not shutting down entire industries. Most industries will be looking at less than a 10% decline in revenue, which can happen anyway. Some of the revenue loss can be targeted elsewhere in the EU that now has a harder time getting UK sourced stuff too.
The converse doesn't work the other way; if we lose good trade with the EU, we look at losing closer to 40%, which will end industries and throw us into recession.
I'm pretty sure we'll come up with a pretty decent deal all in, but that'll be because the UK caves, not the EU. We hold no upper hand here.0 -
And so you should; it's a private report comissioned from YouGov, I'm not sure they publish the data. Plus, it's a survey rather than any solid metric.
Together with the "leaked" report which turned out to be more lies that's twice so far this week.
And they wonder why the public rebel?
And choose Brexit, Trump etc. ................. yet still they will not learn0 -

Why, if not to further the "scare" tactics of those wishing to remain?
Why not? It's a thread about Brexit and I found a piece of news which confirmed my bias. I'm sorry if you or anyone else was scared.A_Medium_Size_Jock wrote: »Here is a link to Hitachi's own report:

See if you can find a link to the quoted survey?
After all, it was jointly comissioned by them.
Or even WHEN the survey was taken?
Anywhere?
I can't.
So why aren't YOU asking yourself "why" like I do?
If it is to be believed, why is there no support for the claims?
This is a wild guess but the press release about the impact of the Brexit vote was probably undertaken sometime between 23rd June and 14th November when the press release was issued.
I understand the limitations of such surveys (as I've already said) but have to note that you don't seem to engage in such fastidious research when a media article confirms your bias.A_Medium_Size_Jock wrote: »Perhaps you now understand why this looks like yet another "project fear" piece of reporting - besides which (as Conrad has already pointed out above): Unless you have evidence otherwise?
I know you're really angry about Project Fear but it's not healthy.0 -

I thought the two initial consequences of voting Brexit would be a fall in sterling and a reduction in investment due to increased uncertainty so it was nice to have my bias confirmed but delight would be over-egging it.
Brexit merely brought the issue of sterling being overvalued to the fore. Market commentators (from the major investment houses) have had this on the radar for a very long time. As the referendum made no difference to the balance of trade deficit, the budget deficit or the high level of consumer indebtedness. All of which ultimately will hamper the speed of the UK's recovery. We are already beginning to see the first cracks on the high street. With over capacity.0 -

Seriously, your continual grasping of media propaganda is looking like increasingly desperate tactics.
Should we not wait for the actual Autumn Statement then?
To see what is in fact propsed?
Don't be silly. It's much for fun to seize on the latest Brexit Bust news story and speculate like crazy.:)0 -

"Wild guess" eh?
Yup, that's all it is - like the whole report, unless you have evidence otherwise?
I thought not.
BTW, my "bias" is NOT to promote fear and alarm using lies and heresay.
Unlike yours it seems.
As I said to you in another thread:Now since I at least have no desire to exhibit the attitude of a spoilt child having the last word, I will refrain from further discussion upon this matter.0 -

GOT THE STORY NOW.
Yes INCREASE of Eastern Europeans and a DECREASE in Western Europeans.
Quite understandable a rush of low skilled people getting in before the door shuts.
Perhaps us racist and xenophobic Brits have turned our ire toward Western Europeans now. Although there were thousands of them in the summer as tourists enjoying the favourable exchange rate.
This Brexit scenario is so confusing.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
