I was thinking of Gina Miller but, as you note, money talks.
Wasn't alone, she was chosen as the PR face, being female, self made, immigrant etc. All very contrived. That's my cynical view. There were other parties involved. You don't employ the 3 of the best legal firms in London on the topic of constitutional law without a sizable financial backing. I remember going to Chambers for Counsels advice on a business related matter some 30 years ago. Even then 30 minutes set one back some £1,500 (plus VAT).0 -

..and without her and her rich backers we wouldn't have discovered the government were attempting to act (subject to appeal) outside of the law.
I understand why some are upset about the ruling but should we really have to rely on the rich and privileged to hold the government to account?0 -

we won't know the government was acting illegally until the supreme court and the european court have given a judgement0 -

Maybe so. However they would know the outcome if they won the case. What's the next step in their plan if Parliament waves Article 50 through. After all Parliament can discuss all it likes. No one knows what 27 Sovereign Governments, that hold very different views will agree to if anything. After 2 years the UK leaves the EU. That's the bottom line.
Wouldn't the money be spent helping people in need?0 -
It's 5 months since the referendum. There must be a base position by now. Surely?
Anyway it's going to a highly complex exercise to extricate ourselves from the EU and many of the issues won't be fully illuminated until negotiations start in earnest so we may as well get on with it.
I agree.
You seem to think everyone's been sat round doing knack all though, just because they haven't told you what their plans are on a daily basis.
People that work for me are skilled enough and trusted enough to get on with the task without me breathing down their necks every five minutes. As a result they deliver.
I'm not sure your world of micro-management is going to help get us to where we want to be in anything like a sensible timeframe.0 -

We've not been told anything about the plan; not a thing; nothing let alone a daily update. Pretty sure you wouldn't accept this from your team at work.
I'm hardly breathing down the government's neck - I just want them to stop fannying about and get on with it.0 -

If assigned a sizeable task I wouldn't expect to report in detail daily. Waste of valuable time and resources. They'll be a timetable and assigned actions i.e. be ready for next March). As the "team leader" I'd use competent people people that I can trust to deliver. This isn't an ordinary team of people.0 -

If I employed you to take the UK out of the EU why should I have to wait the best part of a year to find out your approach to issues like trade, immigration etc. And, given you work for me rather than the other way round why do you get to decide?
I think we need to remember who's paying the piper.0 -
