Interesting breakdown here of (possible) attitudes to Brexit.

DE social class favour Brexit by 53% to 47%, C2 by 54% to 46%. That's the working class for you. And which party is supposed to represent the working class?
Over on the Trucknet forum, which is primarily made up of truck drivers with a few Operators and owner drivers, the leave the EU poll is at 86% to leave.
It's hardly surprising, it's one of the sectors that has been hit hard by membership of the EU. For Operators it's very difficult to compete with E European wages, Poles now have 26% of the international haulage market from ( my guess/industry knowledge) bu88er all 15-20 years ago. From a driver's perspective it had a downward pressure on wages for a number of years; it's still not unusual to hear of Lithuanians or Poles driving for less than £8.00 an hour.
Even the Germans don't like the way the expansion of the EU has affected their international haulage market. They tried to introduce minimum wage legislation last year for drivers either transiting Germany or delivering/collecting in Germany. It's on hold at the moment whilst some EU body debates the fairness. The French allegedly wnating to do the same.
It may be the undeducated, or less educated, that are more likely to vote to leave, but they are the ones that see their wages being directly affected.0 -
How many highly educated are there? isnt the brexit MP highly educated, camron a bit thick though coming back with a worthless piece of paper“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

It's what happens when you get free trade....It may be the undeducated, or less educated, that are more likely to vote to leave, but they are the ones that see their wages being directly affected.
If you were being cynical about it, you might argue that all those ABs love the EU because it means cheaper Polish plumbers and Lithuanian au pairs, whilst the DEs don't like the competition.0 -
And if you are really middle class posh, all that ease of travelling to your house in Tuscany.;)0

I think people should just be honest about their self interest.
For me, the real skills growth in the industry sector I am in comes from the sub-continent and China. It is not from the relatively new entrants to the EU.
I worry that we will place more artificial caps on skilled people from these places in preference to au pairs and plumbers from Europe. Won't we just fall further down the productivity table?0 -
The trouble is that the two year guillotine applies unless the "European Council, in agreement with the Member State concerned, unanimously decides to extend this period". Thus it only needs one bl00dy minded Council member to put the kibosh on the extension.
I am amazed at your contempt for the EU given you want to be a member.
You are assuming (at least one) malicious heads of state and then assuming the rest are totally stupid in not being able to construct a work round if necessary. Given the track record of the EU bending its own rules I'm somewhat surprise you even consider the matter.
It would be much better if the EU spent more time trying to rescue the south european economies.0 -
What ever happens, after the next election we will, baring a miracle, still be governed by an old etonian prime minister and "reined over" by a Saxe-Coburg-Gotha !
