    I agree with Tricky.
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.
  • CETA saved apparently.
Guy Verhofstadt Good news! We saved #CETA. Europe shld learn from this: take the citizens' concerns on board & get rid of the unanimity rule paralyzing #EU

Seems to be confirming what cogito said.

Moves have been afoot for some time within the EU to move from vetoes to QMV. This fiasco will only hasten the process.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

I said this in the Scottish independence thread as a reason why Scotland would have less of a voice in it's political future when it is independent in the EU, because the EU is moving to qualified majority voting and you won't get the veto you covet.

You berated me then, why the sudden change of heart?

I am gonna buy a hat for my new sunglasses, and if Brexit happens I will eat it. It is simply not going to happen because politicians know it is a case of suicide if it does.

'Ooooh, please Mr Tusk have us back, we're very sorry, we will do just as you wish and keep giving you £28 million per day for a 1/28th seat in a squabble club, we will welcome a city the size of Coventry each year and be damned grateful for all the congestion and environmental pressures'

Y'up, this courageous act would surely garner great public affection....

Yes, and talking of Toxic Toastie and the negative propaganda he continually rants here is real, factual (note factual Toastie) news of what is REALLY happening:

    http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-britain-eu-economy-idUKKCN12R0TU

    Meanwhile in the EU .............

    Whilst, regarding CETA:

    And in Germany:

And that is just a few of many possible examples.
Yup, all is looking oh-so-rosy in EU land isn't it Toxic?

Considering Scotland will neither be leaving the EU nor remaining part of the UK, this must be a source of great chagrin to you.

Life for humans is about co-operation. The best conception of co-operation locally for the UK is the EU, (cracks exist everywhere in life!). We have chosen to walk away from that venture and over the coming years we will pay the price.

What co-operation loss do you expect?

I see today we are once more sending more troops into Eastern Europe.

Australia and the EU co-operate and sit on the same global panels regards environment, security sharing etc, btw.

I posted a tweet that was relevant to this thread. That's all really.

It makes it very difficult to make those type of decisions. Should the tree grower gamble? Perhaps it's a sure thing!

The biggest gamble of all was to think we could carry on wracking up debt in order to import Chinese goods and add to the trade deficit, and thus borrow more to fuel more import consumption and to pay an eye watering £28 million per day EU club fee, when we need pay nothing and still trade the very same volumes (which will be the case)

The market at some point soon was going to say enough is enough.

Millions of Brits felt left behind by globalisation. The import and consumption model does not generate real wealth for many people. Brexit for me is all about the catalyist for change in order to drastically shift the way we earn our crust.

Brexit has bought forward the moment the economic re-balancing began

GlaxoSmithKline sees profit surge on weak pound

Pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline saw profits surge in the third quarter, aided by the recent fall in sterling and strong sales of its flu vaccines.
In the three months to 30 September, sales jumped 23% to £7.5bn while core operating profit rose 35% to £2.3bn.

The Scots aren't daft, as they see Brexit unfold and the prosperity spreading, there is no way they will take a chance on leaving.

Day by day the hystericals are being sown to have dire predictive capacity.

There is zero reason trade will be disrupted, zero. Europeans cannot afford to disrupt their own trade, I just do not understand how you cannot see this
