  • Brexit xenophobe scummers boo some poor Polish lady on Question Time.

    I'm ashamed of this country.

I sought it out and watched it on the basis of your post.

They were absolutely right to boo that hysterical crap. I certainly didn't vote leave to kick anyone out, I'd be quite happy with FoM to continue. That woman has internalised the result of the referendum and made herself into a victim and is getting all hysterical about it. She is very wrong in saying 52% of the British public that voted in the referendum want to kick Polish people out of the country. She's wrong, and that's the end of it. She can shrill as much as she wants, she's wrong and the audience were trying to tell her that.

And another lowlife brexiter told Ken Clarke 'if you don't like it, clear off'. Scary times we live in.
Anyone not cheering on brexit needs to clear off, be silenced or convicted under the Treason Felony Act. :(
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

I actually agree wholly with Ken Clarke. But it's probably not practicable.

We voted to leave the EU - that is all. That should be respected, I suspect the exasperation of the public at the attempts to scupper that vote is at the heart of the anger towards Ken Clarke, but anyway, I would welcome parliament being involved in the formation of a Brexit plan if I didn't think that elements of parliament (looking at the SNP primarily here) didn't have reason to undermine it.

There are no attempts to scupper the vote. Even the most ardent remainers accept that we will leave the EU.

On QT last night, as but one example, Ken Clarke and the Labour MP were angling to stay in the SM, which necessarily means accepting the 4 freedoms, thus in the EU to all intents.

People like Clegg want a Norway style deal, because they know one day the liberal set would use this as a jumping board back into full membership (as some Norwegian Liberals have been attempting)

    That's right Conrad.
We could stay in the SM and leave the EU, we could adopt a Norway style option and leave the EU. Both would satisfy the referendum mandate which asked if we wanted to stay in or leave the EU.

I wouldn't be against remaining in the single market a la Norway or Switzerland, immigration is not an issue for me. It obviously is for some, which is why I would have loved to have a debate about it in parliament. Sadly the state of affairs in parliament, particularly in relation to the SNP, mean that some may work against us in order to achieve other goals.

As long as parliament was clear on the fact we're leaving the political union, and that was done and dusted, and they accepted that we need the ability to strike our own trade deals like Switzerland or Norway then I'd probably be happy with the outcome they vote for.

This is probably the first time we've agreed on MSE.

I'm definitely for a soft-brexit, but the political union must be off the table and remain off the table.

We'd only be pretending to leave.

As Boris, Cameron, Osbourne, Gove and many others stated before the referendum "Voting Leave means leaving the single market."
If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.
