Either the EU can force governments to comply or the EU can not force them to comply - Wallonia indicates the latter is true.
When a giant trade deal can be vetoed by a tiny Belgian province until it gets the changes it wants it makes a mockery of all the anti-EU rhetoric about loss of sovereignty and loss of control.
You know as well as anyone on here that the EU ratifies treaties differently to legislation and regulation.0 -
The best thing to happen BY FAR would be no Brexit, let's hope this happens. Save the Brexmongers from themselves.

You bunch of jokers.
Never knew we had so many clairvoyants in the UK.
What are the intricacies of the deal we've got with the EU then? Surely one of these sages have posted the details with them knowing the deal in advance?
Edit: what the hell does Russian warships in the channel have to do with Brexit?0 -
We have no trade deal with our top 10 non EU trading partners. That's what sub-contracting our trade policy to the old Men of Brussels does.
EU deals are mainly with small states and principalities, hopeless. The last 'ok' deal was S Korea which took 10 years of squabbling.
Nimble Britain will fair far better when paddling it's own canoe, all the remaoner fear of self - autonomy will soon be a quaint memory0 -

Looks like anti-EU sentiment is on the rise and in some places - winning. Why is this? Was the UK indeed a bellweather and in fact the EU will have to negotiate not just with the UK but with France (2017) and possibly Italy (2018)?
In Germany the ruling party remains ahead in polls but support is wavering.
It was my understanding that since they saw the start of the decade long mess we are in for that opinion had actually been boistered for staying in the E.U. I think WIki can be edited by any members.
Easy to find contrary

Finland was especially anti Eu prior to Brexit vote.0 -
If we leave the EIB (European Investment Bank) this will amount to further billions saved. An ignorant remainer on BBC did the usual nonsense routine explaining we get money from the EIB without any recognition we've had precisely halve our contributions back since inception.
What are you on about? What billions will we save? What contributions? What half do we get back? The EIB is a non-profit-making, self-financing institution, independent of the EU budget. It is financed through borrowing on the financial markets.Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

The UK has put up 16% of the capital so it has not got its full proportion of the loans. Over the time we have been in we have received 8% of the lending, half our share of the capital.
If they wish us to stay in we need to remember we are liable to supply another £36 bn if they lose money and need capital top up. The EIB earns small margins on its asset base and has substantial gearing. It is certainly not worth offering anything in order to stay in.

Well first it has to do with Brexitmongers being massively blown up about our capabilities in various areas. We don't seem to be able to take 13 refugees now. Hardly a demonstration of power and wealth ! (or moral thought)
We are a little island with a big nose. We sent relatively speaking a canoe and dinghy down to the channel to watch Russian vessels pass through. We are living in dangerous times. May is "What are we going to do about the Russians to the E.U. parliament ?" The answer is F.A. basically unless we all want to die.

We could be invaded and over run in 7 days or so. So get a perspective including at Brexmonger level. Maybe if Trump gets in and NATO is disbanded we will be in real danger.
It helps Brexmongers gain perspective on what our diminuitive political, military, global influence is IMO.
I am not talking it down, from your blown up delusional perspective I might be, just explaining things as they are.0 -
So you'd welcome your council using halve their money to run your services and then handing the other halve to Albania for example, ok then.....
I can't keep up with the logical gymanistics here.
It's more akin to some of the money I give the council not going back into stuff that benefits me directly, like cycle paths. And I'm totally fine with that.
We pay to be part of a larger union, a lot of that money goes back to us via projects our government would never touch, some of the money goes into administration, and some goes where it's needed. As long as we get enough value back I don't see the problem.
I pay something like £30 a year to be a member of Costco, do I moan about what they spend that money on? Nah, I don't care, because I get to save more than £30 on consumables.0
