Well, I just rang my local Vue Cinema, and they are completely unaware of the free VIP upgrade - online or at the cinema. Thought it sounded too good to be true.:(
I rang the Club Lloyds helpline just now and they said I could use the vouchers that were previously issued before the change. However if the local Vue argue the point there is nothing on the reverse side of the vouchers to confirm the upgrade is free.0 -

No - all we have is our email which I doubt Vue staff would accept. I have already rung Club Lloyds this morning, then Vue, trying Club Lloyds again to see what is going on, 13th in queue, got down to position 1, and then a recorded "Sorry - your call can not be answered at present". Trying again.... just got past the "Your call is very important to us".....
Edit: Just been cut off again after another 12 mins wait. Think I will give up on this for the time being. Hopefully someone else will be able to get some sense out of someone and will post their findings on here....0 -
It says in the email I got this morning about the Vue benefits that VIP can be booked online.0

Brave man (or woman). So just to confirm, you got the tickets completely free of charge and did not need to enter any payment details other than the voucher codes?0 -

Tickets can be booked online (for free, no booking fee, no entering of card info). You can then either show the qr code at the cinema or print out your own tickets. No need for any interaction with Vue employees (who may not be fully up to speed with the whims of Lloyd’s marketing dept). It’s very simple and painless.0 -

Thank you drob4 aadn Willing2Learn for your useful posts. And to think that all this time I have rushed down to the cinema to get my seats because I always thought that you had to pay the 75p booking fee and give your credit card details. What an idiot I've been.
Nevermind, never too late to start booking online, and a free VIP upgrade as well!
Edit: Taken the plunge and made my first ever online booking at Vue. Like the others, my upgrade went through free of charge and I added it to Apple Wallet (which I have never used before either). I know some of the younger peeps on here will be laughing at an old luddite, but I don't care.0 -
Just one final question:
I have my email with the booking ref on it. The email says it doubles as a ticket. I have also saved it to Apple Pay.
Just rung Vue, but couldn't seem to get a lot of sense.
The question:
Do I still need to go to the kiosk or an automated machine and print out the actual paper tickets, or can I just show the copy that loaded into my apple wallet which has all the details and a QR code?
This link https://www.theticketingbusiness.com/2018/12/07/vue-urban-airship-brings-google-pay-uk-cinemas/ seems to suggest that I can just walk up to the guy that normally looks at your collected paper ticket (and tears it), show him the ticket loaded into Apple Wallet and just proceed to our seats. (I know the article only mentions Google Pay but I found another link earlier today that I can't find again that also mentions Apple Wallet in the same sentence)
I guess I could just wait until I get to the cinema to find out for sure, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with doing this. Or it could be a case that it has only rolled out to certain cinemas since December.0 -
I just go to the ticket machine in the Vue foyer. You can print out you ticket there using the QR code or [STRIKE]card number (if I remember correctly)[/STRIKE]your booking reference number (just checked).I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.
