M&S Switch voucher now £220

Comments

  • I have just visited M&S website for current account overview and not sure if anyone has picked this up or not but the offer is for a "gift card". The £10 per month is a top up to the gift card, not a credit into your account.

If you are looking to save/move the interest else where, this is not for you.

If you are happy with this and are looking to spend in store, great deal! :)

I have been trying to open a MS bank using the switch for over a week. has the rules changed this year, I had no trouble using the switch from nationwide to Halifax, All these questions makes me think again if I am wasting my time trying to get £100 voucher

What do you mean by that? Opening and switching are two entirely separate processes, and switching can only happen after you have an account to switch to.

I filled the app on line then they started ringing me as to where my funds were coming from. How difficult it is to open an account with MS bank.

All I want to do is switch an old Yorkshire current acc to MS and get the £100 voucher

They do great food. If your next nearest store is far away, look for an M&S Simply Food store- they are now in many petrol stations. http://www.bp.com/en_gb/on-the-road/united-kingdom/find-nearest-bp.html

If you like a tipple, I think they also do wine deliveries

Actually the BP stations are about the same distance away!!... and yes, I know about M&S food (remember, long ago I worked there) thinks...... still think it would be worth the switch after all there is also the regular saver which is paying real money interest!

Can't believe I've ploughed through this whole thread for what is essentially a large voucher (I never shop there).

There's a heavy hint in the thread title: M&S Switch voucher now £220

Just spent a few minutes attempting to set up a joint account for myself and my wife. I have to say their application process is not great for husband and wife accounts where the wife is a housewife. You have to enter your property details in twice (not just address but house value and mortgage as well) and then it doesn't accept that your wife doesn't get paid. You have to select from a dropdown box either "Cheque" or "BACS" there is no option for none and you can't leave it blank (I tried!). So basically I had to lie and say she got paid by cheque. Earlier in the process I had selected the "At Home" option for employment status but it doesn't seem to tie it all together.

Also, for anyone else looking at this, it doesn't give you a decision there and then (unlike the recent Santander and TSB accounts I have opened) so don't expect it to.

Oh well, let's wait and find out whether I have wasted my time or not.

I don't think any bank has special "husband and wife" application processes. Even if you apply for a joint account, each person gets assessed independently, and the bank therefore needs the data for each person.

You are also not meant to apply on behalf of another person unless you have PAO.
