and I've got a different question! I'm not a great M&S shopper, for one thing it's not that local to me.
My question is does the money card have an end date ?(or the cash on it?)

I have an a/c I could switch but would need to set up DD x2. I can also cycle the required income round... I would just prefer a cash reward!!
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I am sure it's buried in the T&Cs somewhere how long credits on M&S cards last. I normally just do some food shopping with M&S vouchers / card credits.

Does their home delivery for certain items appeal? http://www.marksandspencer.com/s/delivery-and-collection?OmnitureRedirect=delivery&ddkey=http:MSFindItemsByKeyword#a

Fortunately one bank I've not done a switch to yet.

I don't have any spare accounts at the moment, any recommendations for the easiest/quickest account to open online to use as a donor?

If I change my bank to, e.g. M&S, I understand they will pay my direct debits etc. but do I have to inform my teacher's pension and state pension people or will they be automatically paid in?

Under the CASS, the bank will inform all your incoming payers (?) of your new details for the next 36 months, and they will redirect any incoming payments to your new account. You can make it doubly-certain by confirming your new bak deatils with your pension provider(s).

Now there's a lucky beggar, and I envy you!!! But::::: JJ - you, of all people, have no spare accounts / questions on how to get them ??? Apocalypse now.

OK. I picked myself up off the floor (barely), and I wasn't laughing. I just collapsed. JJ and no spare accounts to switch. I never. Moving on....Best donor account source is a provider you already bank with, if they allow you further accounts (e.g. any RBS Group, any LBG, Nationwide etc etc). Second best is to get an account with them - I'd choose Nationwide myself, as I have always found them cooperative to multiple account holders. Natwest etc are very helpful too.

And as you are already a Tesco Bank customer, you won't have any difficulties with the required DDs, will you :D (but if you have, pls PM me for the way out)

I've found Santander and Halifax were v quick and easy when opening further accounts with them. And quickest/easiest one where did not already have an account was RBS Select as verified ID online at time of application via passport number and credit card so got provided with bank account and sort code numbers at end of application with debit card arriving just a few days later.

    is m and s
a online bank or is the bank in the store?

They do have around 30 branches in M&S stores across the UK - but you can bank online solely if you wish. However their online banking isn't great and you need a secure key to log in every time.

As shocking as it seems, yes I confess I have no spare accounts! With a flurry of switches last year, netting another £400 from Nationwide I now only have accounts that I actually want.

Additional Halifax account opened today though, very seamless process so now all in process to do the M&S account. Fortunately I have many, many DDs so no problems at all with that aspect!
