Tell me about it! But looking at 8c from new switch offer T&C:
if you open more than one Qualifying Account (in your sole name, joint names or in a combination of accounts in your sole name and accounts in joint names), we will only provide one gift card for the first time you switch your account to us using the Current Account Switch Service and meet the requirements set out in clause 2 in relation to your Qualifying Account (if this is a joint account this means we will not provide a gift card per
account holder).
I will phone them to check before I do the switch though given the various contradictions!
Phoned them earlier and they 'think should be fine' to qualify for new switch offer if open an additional account and switch into that but wants to confirm with someone first and will call me back to say for sure. Will report back here for info in case anyone else in similar position to me. Let's just hope it's a simple 'yes fine' so that a prolonged call going through all the various T&C isn't required.0 -
really interested in this but just one question on banking £1000 a month. Can we pay in this sum then take it out again?0

I notice many people switching on a regular basis. If you have to have all your main business transferred to qualify it as a "switch" does that always have to include salary.
If not can you just switch a current account that has manual input and a couple of DD's.
If it has to be main account ie salary paid in then how long do you have to keep that account before switching again so as not to have to pay back the incentives.0 -

Many of these switching incentives say in their T & C's " main account ". However, there is no definition of the word main. Some incentives require standing orders and or DD`s. None require your salary, as long as you can make the minimum requirements it doesn't matter where it comes from .0 -

1. Donor accounts opened specifically for the purpose,or
2. Accounts no longer serving a purpose, ie old Nationwide FlexDirect, or
3. Accounts that have already paid out an incentive.
Depending on the specific offer T&Cs, I either set up DDs or, if nothing is stipulated, a couple of SOs and 2 or 3 bill payments.
I've yet to see an incentive offer stipulating you must mandate your salary/benefits/pension (certainly not in recent times anyway).0 -
Looking at the M&S website it says regarding switching
"Switch your everyday banking to us, including a minimum of two Direct Debits, using the Current Account Switch Service in branch or by phone, and we’ll send you a £100 M&S gift card."
Does that mean you can't do the switch online? Bit of a faff getting to a branch and the thought of contacting a bank customer services call centre sends shivers down my spine!0 -

Guess it depends if you think it's worth it for £220. Clydesdale application was by phone only. Not too painful and netted £150 for a 10 min call. Not a bad hourly rate.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

I don't switch my current a/c but recently with the HSBC switch deal a friend was kind of forced to do that by the member of staff in her local branch. I just said I wanted to take advantage of the special deals, high interest rate etc and the member of staff I met was only too pleased!
The qualifying monthly amount will be cycled round ( in, a short stay and then out again!) but I intend to add whatever sum is needed to be transferred into the regular saver.Oh and of course a small sum to cover those DDs
I am about to create 2 x DDs on an obsolete Lloyds vantage a/c with a view to switching- over the phone. If it takes even half an hour I can live with that! Puzzling how to spend money 'though since M&S even online isn't quite my cup of tea! and the local branch not that local! (Even if I did work there long long ago as a holiday job!)Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

They do great food. If your next nearest store is far away, look for an M&S Simply Food store- they are now in many petrol stations. http://www.bp.com/en_gb/on-the-road/united-kingdom/find-nearest-bp.html
If you like a tipple, I think they also do wine deliveries0
