well I think you could if you want, this condition
"
Cashback will only be paid out for new applications that are ‘accepted’ for The Cooperative Current Account that are completed fully online. "
is in reference to opening a account and we know that an account application and switching are completely different things .0 -

Hi Guys,
I contacted Top Cashback and asked a few questions:
Asked if as part of the 'transfer to' term a switch was required:The terms have recently been updated, but at the time of your purchase, the offers stated that the account had to be opened and £800 deposited. It has since been clarified that this term is £800 per month for 3 months and a certain number of direct debits. As this wasn't clear at the time of your purchase, we have confirmed with the co-op bank that as long as you deposit at least £800 and keep the account active, you will get cashback. 'Main account' apparently just means an active account.
Asking if existing customers can do the offer:I believe that existing co-op bank customers would be ineligible, but if you do have another co-op account, please let me know and I'll query this further for you.
I have pointed that out to them and asked them to query it
All the terms mention is: "Customers do not need to have another product with The Co-operative Bank to qualify"
And the 'OLA' reference number:On the OLA number, don't be too concerned about that. You shouldn't now need to submit a missing cashback claim, but if this does decline in the future, let me know and I'll help.0 -
There is another thread about the Co op refusing to actually pay out cashback to Quidco and TCB applicants who apparently did comply with the terms.
I did get my TCB £42 plus the Co ops own £100 incentive (now withdrawn) when I opened an account last year but they don't seem to always pay out and aren't required to give any reason.
So don't assume you will get the money - they could drag it out for months and hope you give up.0 -
I messaged TCB, too, and paste below the query and their response, which should be helpful to all:-
"""
I, and many others on an internet forum (moneysaving expert.com), are a bit confused about an aspect of this cashback
We are not certain whether it requires a switch of a current account from elsewhere into the new co-op account.
Further, co-op does not have the facility to do online switches, which means that a switch could only be done on the phone or by a visit to a branch. In these cases the whole thing would not occur "wholly online", which is a criterion of getting the cashback
Pl can you consult , senior to senior , TCB to co-op, to resolve these issues and furnish clear answers such that I and other forumites do not inadvertently miss out on the cashback
"""
"""
The terms have recently been updated, so those who made a transaction after the 5th have to abide by those showing on site now. At the time of your purchase however, the offers stated that the account had to be opened and £800 deposited. It has since been clarified that this term is £800 per month for 3 months and a certain number of direct debits. As this wasn't clear at the time of your purchase, we have confirmed with the co-op bank that as long as you deposit at least £800 and keep the account active, you will get cashback.
As long as the initial set up and application is completed online, this should be fine.
I hope that this helps explain things but let me know if you have any questions.

Well that is good news in that it clarifies things somewhat and does put to bed the question of the requirement for a formal switch. Just wondering what is meant by that comment 'a certain number of direct debits' tied in with 'keep the account active'. I'll be setting a couple up to be safe, but it does still appear to be a slightly grey area.
But not needing to do a switch really does make this the easiest of easy money0 -

According to TCB response above, the certain number of direct debits Is not a requirement if you applied under the original T&C before they were updated on the 6th.0 -

They continue to come out with wooly statements. I'll probably switch, set up a few DDs, pay in £800 a month and withdraw it in cash [then deposit it back into where it came from], until they pay up.0 -

I am an existing customer and argue it doesn't specifically rule out existing customers.

And the 'OLA' reference number:
Be interested in what they come back with on the existing customer point as I am one too and definitely nothing in the T&C in my view that prevents us from getting the cashback.0
