Vintagegal you could always show your ex some really hideous furniture and tell him you are going to buy it. Then have a really good chuckle when he rushes out to buy it first :rotfl:

I've got some spends to fess up to - a top I bought at the weekend for £20 and a blue Masai top for £30 both half price. Honestly I think I just bought them to make myself feel better after we were all told at work that our jobs would probably all be going before Christmas. I was feeling a bit guilty but then remembered I had £100 birthday money from April and they did make me feel better so onwards and upwards :)

Somerandom sounds like you got a few nice bits at a reasonable price!
Sorry to hear about your job rowanmoon. I'm not surprised you needed a little retail therapy, well done for restraining yourself to only two tops. Obviously we don't know your circumstances but I hope you can find something else. I've been made redundant before and I don't think I handled it very well. Keep us posted, we'll keep everything crossed for you :)

Sorry to hear about your job situation Rowanmoon.

I've bought a few bits in the CS today for my holiday - cotton day dress, linen top, silk top - £9.98 for all 3. The other day I bought a white company night dress ( beautiful crisp white cotton - looks hardly used) & a gym top - £6.50 for those 2. I also realised that I hadn't added a FatFace bikini top that I bought last month - £8.95 - so that's £25.43 to add to my total. I would like to buy a tankini top before I go on holiday and if I see a really nice cotton skirt at a good price I might go for that too.

I'm only £28 away from my budget for the whole year

Morning all. No spends to report here. I've realised that I have hardly spent anything this year when I didn't set a budget. In previous years, I think I've seen my budget as a target to be reached!

    Well done Jazee !!

I've got a couple of spends to add - tankini top from Ebay - £4 (incl. P&P) & a lovely Monsoon dress for Autumn £4 CS.

Last year I bought a beautiful Desigual Maxi-dress from Ebay - bought it at the end of the season - when I wore it this year it was hideously unflattering as it had stripes across the bust which made my boobs look humongous (didn't realise until I saw the holiday photos. My clever cousin altered it for me today & reversed the material - top part of the dress is now plain black & it all looks lovely - so happy that it's wearable now!! :j

Bought some items from a charity shop today. Two £5.99 Dorothy Perkins dresses-One is black and white stripe and the other is a lovely navy with white piping dress that looks very similar to a Dorothy Perkins dress I used to own that mysteriously went missing. Also bought a £4.99 black and white striped jumper by Ralph Lauren so feel very pleased about that.

    Total £16.97

  • Oooh some good bargains and alterations going on round here!

I myself ordered some dresses in a sale, with an event in mind that I have to go to in September that I feel nervous about. I know the reason I wanted a new dress was to give myself some confidence. Anyway they came yesterday and whilst I like two of them, they are more what I would wear to work. So I need to parcel them up and send them back really. I wonder why I think a new dress is needed? I think this is about my weight again. I will be seeing people I haven't seen in a while and I'm not feeling good about myself. Maybe they will whisper 'no wonder he left her, look how much weight she has put on...'

You might be able to tell from the above that I havent had time to read any more of the self compassion book :rotfl:

I will have a look tonight at another dress that I've only worn once, and if I can still get in it, I will wear that to the do. If I can't get in it, I will have to come up with another plan!
