  • So have been AWOL for a long time, things have been a bit hectic in RL.

However, spent £20 on jammie bottoms for DH. socks & a T-shirt for me £5.93.

DH isn't working at the moment due to ill health, therefore his clothes will come out of my budget.

I have been keeping up with the thread on and off.

Hope that are all are well and happy.

I'm ok thank you, still having bad days and feeling angry though. I wish I knew when it would end! Am still considering getting a punchbag to try and get some anger out. Not sure if i'd just feel silly though!

Totally understandable Vintagegirl - it's still early days and you were badly hurt and let down. I went on a workshop the other week on "Self-Compassion" - it was so good & I've been using a lot of the techniques & sharing them with friends and clients - I've found them incredibly helpful. I really recommend Kristin Neff's TED Talk on the subject Why don't you take a look. If it doesn't help go for the punchbag :). Take Care x

I will have a look at this somerandom, I know that I don't take care of myself properly and am very hard on myself. I set very high standards and maybe need to relax them a bit. Thank you for your suggestion.
I did try to talk to Relate but it didn't seem that they thought they could help me.

Last night I think I hit an all time shopping low. I had to take something I bought my daughter back as I had bought it far too big. On my way to kidswear in JL I saw a dress I liked in the sale and thought 'Oooh I'll just try that on'. Well it wasn't very nice so from that perspective I did well.. but then I zipped up my own dress, bent down to pick up my bag, and the whole zip popped open. Literally all the way down the back to my pants! I had to ask the nice lady manning the changing rooms to find some safety pins and pin me back into my dress so that I could get back to the car... she only had 3 so I was still a bit naked going through the shopping centre.... maybe fate was saying GET OUT OF THE SHOPS!!
And to top it all off, when I got home there was no one there, and I couldn't reach the safety pins, so I had to CUT MYSELF OUT of the dress with scissors...
Oh dear. Not my classiest moment I must say.

Sorry Vintagegal, but you've made me laugh and reminded me of a recent event. I was staying at a hotel on business and at the end of the day, my zip broke on the pencil skirt I was wearing. There was no way to move the zip to undo it, and the skirt was too tight to wiggle down over my ample hips. I had no scissors, so had to bit by bit rip my way out of the skirt. At least I didn't have an audience.

Today I have bought a t-shirt with a motif on the front. Still uninspired by most tops I'm seeing in the shops. £5 which I'll add now to my totals.

Glad to know its not just me then Jazee! They obviously don't make things to last these days, the dress I broke wasn't expensive but it was the first time I had worn it!

Somerandom - I looked up Kristin Neff and have ordered a book of hers which I will take on holiday. I almost bought a book on narcissism and breakups as well but I decided to stop with those and try the more positive self compassion approach on its own.
He upset me today and managed to upset the children as well and this needs to stop. I don't think he cares though, he literally has no understanding or empathy. I think he is actually a robot.

    Morning all :D

No spends for me as I have just been swapping with the clothes sale stuff :D Its a great way to shop take something wear it once wash it and put it back :rotfl:But if I love it I keep it and put something else back in ;) But sadly I have mostly been shopping in a size up as I havent been able to run as I have had a bad hip been given the all clear to start again. So on Monday I am back to healthly eating to try and shift a few lbs (again) :o Or I will be joining you lot in the broken zip stakes pretty sharpish :rotfl:

Vintagegal Yes I recommend boxing 100% and I spar twice a week you would not believe how exhusting it is and you cant be angry anymore when you cant even lift your arms :D It is completely draining but worth every second.
You need to do some kind of exercise and you need to really push yourself as mentally there really is nothing better. I so wished you lived near me as I would help you. Dont put your anger into him (his not worth it) Put it into yourself  Push yourself to do something you never thought you could do. Move forward each day and step out of your comfort zone everyday.

If you put your time and energy into yourself and your children hopefully you will have none left for him.

You can do this and let us know what small changes you have made each day as you can do this.We all know you can ;)

    Hello my lovelies :)

I've not been here for a while because things have been blooming hectic here. I have been helping my daughter find somewhere to move to as the house share she had was coming to an end. After much searching and seeing some right old sights she finally found a lovely little place in Derbyshire, not far from me. I helped her move in last week and am helping her furnish it (she's gone from furnished to unfurnished). Sorry, a bit off topic but I'm so relieved that she has somewhere nice. She has had some setbacks over the last few years so I really hope this is a new start for her.

I'm just catching up on all your posts.
Vintagegal iI had to chuckle at fate telling you to get out of the shops. Well done for being able to see the positive side to it. :j

Somerandom The self-compassion workshop sounds interesting. Brene Brown does some good talks about that too.
I went on a healing retreat a few weekends ago - it was exhausting and emotional but now it feels like it is bringing about some positive changes.

It's good to catch up on how you are all doing. No spends to report only because I haven't had time though :p

Rowan Moon - well done on no spends. Glad your DD is settled.

I am not planning to buy any clothes today or go near any shops or browse websites on line.

I LOVE Brene Brown RowanMoon - I think her & Kristen Neff are collaborating on some stuff around Self-Compassion at the moment. I'm such a "fangirl" of them both!! Healing retreat sounds great - glad it's having a positive effect. And well done for non-spending whatever the reason. :A
