If you can keep it at a £3.00 spend for the month that will be excellent. When I first doing this challenge I was literally counting the days.
I love it when you can get something for free or close to it.

Yes definitely want to keep it at £3, sold a jacket on e-bay yesterday for £12 and sorted out a couple of scarves that I never wear for charity shops. Although like someone else said, I don't want to get rid of too much if it has to last me a year. Rediscovered a nice pair of black jeans that I have lived in this weekend and forgot I had.

I did this last year sold stuff and took it off my total but over all I think doing that I did still manage to spend a £1000 on clothes :o So its up to you just be careful buying an expensive coat on The Bay as so much is faked on there sadly. What make is your coat you like ? As it seems to be a really high end make if its been reduced by £100.

Saying that I managed to buy a RL leather jacket on the bay last year for £25 RRP £1035  When it arrived its the real thing brand new so there is bargains to be had on there :D

So you pay your money and take you chance really but it is buyer beware ;)

Very true! Anyway the jacket has disappeared from ebay so it obviously wasn't meant to be!

Sold a dress on eBay for £15 today and have a £50 bid on a pair of boots I never wear, so I will keep that money in my PayPal account and save up for something nice, rather than fritter on impulse buys just to scratch the shopping itch. I actually did quite a lot of ironing today and it became apparent how much stuff I have.

Also did a little sewing today, so may have a new dress by the end of this week! Made from fabric I bought over two years ago

Good luck to everyone for the week

Kerri You are so right about the minefield of running shoes  So many styles and about a 1% chance of getting them right:(

Thats why the toes are out of mine and I keep using them as I dont want to make a big expensive mistake.

I do buy from a good shop with a treadmill and well trained staff but pay top dollar in there but to be honest thats one thing I would never buy from the The Bay etc ;)

Havent braved it yet but will go in the week when there is not so many people with New Year plans to start running before quitting in Feb ;)

I notice in the summer when people suddenly take to running outside, fair weather's :D I'd only buy trainers from the bay if it were a pair / style I knew I was comfortable in and they were new or virtually brand new. I'm finding the ones I bought in Aug have only recently felt like 'my' shoes and not stiff boards, and that's after a 1/2 marathon and training. Honestly, it would be easier to run in 6" stilettos I think sometimes :rotfl:

  • :jWELL DONE EVERYONE:j:j

January isn't an easy month for 'no spends' what with the sales on and your bra trying to kill you :rotfl:

I've not spent anything so far this month and have avoided going into town as I know I could be tempted.

I'm going to try to wear everything I've not worn for a while (or ever) before buying anything else :)

Yes kerri I would buy from the bay if I can buy the same as the ones I run in.But I can never find them on there in any size let alone mine :(
I did buy another pair on there same make but different syle and they are awful and kill me. Worse than 6" killer heels I reckon :rotfl:

I am still running in mine with the toes out but I still love them and at least I can run out and not think about my feet ;) I have noticed what I call the hard core runners :D Running with the same damage to thier shoes so maybe I am becomming a hard core runner :rotfl:Or maybe just like me they just do not want to replace what they know.

Well done Rowan Moon I know where you are coming from about the bra ;) Mine are turning into serial killers :(

Reading on here give the push to go into Primark and look for a strapless bra (needed as a couple of tops and a dress need one or they wont be worn) and :j found for £4. Also bought socks. Now had read that the sock quality was poor, and having bought Mr Watty 10 pairs for £4 I would agree, they are very thin and may not last more than a couple of wears.
But a plug for their boys socks. I've been wearing the boys ones, and they are about twice the thickness, last me about a year (I wear a lot of wellies and boots so pretty hard on them) and are only £3 for 5 pairs.
So bought bra and 5 pairs socks for £7. Cheerful.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Re. the running shoes, I am wearing Asics ones at the moment and they do 1/2 sizes, they were fantastic from the first run due to that little bit of extra room for my toes (no numb toes).

I haven't bought anything, I think I may find it a bit easier than most of you due to being 5'10" tall with a 34" inside leg and long arms, this means I can only buy Next tall range, LTS and some Gap really. The tall range at Next isn't available in any stores that I know of and LTS shops are few and far between which makes it easier. I can't wear anything from Primark at all due to the sizings.

    I need help!!

I've washed my some of my undies and a stray black sock crept in. Knickers and socks are looking an ugly dirty colour. Any solutions would be gratefully received. I have no budget to replace. Should I dye them...or cut my losses and throw them?:o

You could dye them with Dylon machine dye - I'm guessing the grey wouldn't take too much to cover up, a cheaper option might be to soak them and then put them through the wash with a colour run remover sachet

or the cheapest option is wear as they are.
