This morning's visit to the veg market was good, I came home with sweetheart cabbage x 2, broccoli x 2, BNS x2, mandarins, strawberries, onions, tomatoes, carrots including some purple ones, and a romanesco - one of those spiky green cauliflower type things. I've never had one before so I'm looking forward to trying it.

DH and I are going out for a Chinese meal tomorrow with a group of friends so I'm going to try and choose the most SW friendly dishes and avoid fried rice and anything deep fried. I'm driving so there won't be any wine syns.

    Have a great day everyone.

I've seen those green cauliflower things and wondered what they taste like lois. Let us know.:)

OH is still picky but I appear to be wearing him down; he loves gammon but I must admit I rarely buy gammon steaks as I'm always unsure of how to cook them well. he's not a fan of lamb but I am determined to try the braised steak at some point :)
Really need to make more in the slow cooker too for quick evening meals.

Gammon's easy to cook. If you can cook bacon, you can cook gammon as it's the same only thicker. If you leave the rind on (for OH of course;)) then just snip it in a few places to get the gammon to lie flat on the grill. Grilling is best as the fat drains away but you can fry if you want (and then pat dry). How long will depend on your grill but it'll tell you on the pack. Gammon is quite good value in Aldi and Lidl. I do it with mushrooms, peas, tomatoes and chips but you could have a JP. If you do SW/oven chips for OH then put the tomatoes and mushrooms on a baking tray in the oven for 15 mins.

I rarely use my SC to come home to a meal. I prefer to use it to cook several portions of something for the freezer so I've got HM ready meals.
  • thanks maman I will give the gammon steaks a go :)

reporting a 2lb loss this week! that's spurred me on a bit :)

    today:
    breakfast: melon and banana
    lunch: chicken salad
mid afternoon: chicken noodle mugshot if back to the office in time
tea: tuna sandwich, 2 boiled eggs, apple

tomorrow night we are at the local carvery to celebrate OH's grandmas birthday before they go on their next cruise. Will have a small carvery to share with littlie - syns for gravy, stuffing ball and small Yorkshire. We don't usually have dessert and I drink lime and soda :)

will remember my coat today as I'm off out to visit a member in the afternoon so will try for at least 15mins walk at some point too :)

counting down to payday when I can stock up on low syn/free/superfree yumminess. Going to grab a few SW bits from Iceland and hope the free yogurt offer is still on :)

    I've not wrote for ages.

I put on 2lb over Christmas. Last SW wi 7/1

Last week, I booked it off and now got this cold. As a child, it went to my ears and later on in my life, it went to my chest. This cold has gone to my stomach area. My stomach hurts and is very bloated. Been drinking peppermint tea, taking peppermint capsules and it has not done anything with my stomach. Weighed myself and I have put on 5lb thanks to the bloatiness etc. Im halfway through my menstrual cycle. Im not going to my meeting tomorrow to be told this.

Does anyone here have any ideas on getting rid of this bloatiness? Im finding it a bit hard to eat too.

I suspect sales of Peppermint tea are now going to soar! Lol
Mary – I used to feel like that frequently and its awful, hope it passes soon.

Orlao – I know that feeling and its so frustrating, could you try mixing things up a little, maybe having a different healthy b every day or setting yourself a speeds food challenge. Some changed might help to get things moving.

Sounds nice Shala, I will give it a try. I normally add tins of chopped tomatoes to fajitas if freezing but if eating straight away don’t.
That’s good we have 5 weeks left, 5 weeks to get the losses in.
I watched the prog again too, have to say I was a little bored with it this week. There has not been one diet on it so far I would realistically see anyone sticking too for any length of time. And I like to drink my coffee not do other things with it lol:eek:
Fairly certain if I was your grandson Greentiger there would be no flakes left! :rotfl:
Lush - Grilling is the best way to do gammon steaks, or in a George.I like it with a big salad / chips / mushrooms, tomatoes and beans. Must get some actually, haven't had it in a while.
I would just say lots of fluids Scarlet, up the speed foods and cut down on salty foods and hopefully it will start to pass.

Oh I almost forgot 1 lb please for the chart Shala.
Was happy enough with this, as long as I'm losing consistently overall I'm pleased. Feeling good and confident that I can do this now.
Oh my someone trumped in the queue to be weighed last night and it was absolutely rotten!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

    Good Morning :)

    LindseyandMatthew :hello:

Welcome to the thread and well done on your weight loss so far :)
  • Morning everyone

It's a 2.5lb loss for me please shala, reckon I need to be ill more often I've not had losses like this for a long time :D Well done to the losers this week, hugs to the STS and gainers and anyone needing a bit of love this week :A

Hiya LindseyandMatthew and welcome to our friendly thread :D

Re the bloating lots of water usually works for me scarlet. I also have some lemon and ginger tea that I picked up from somewhere which always makes me feel less huge, I think the ginger in it is supposed to be good for digestion. Things like cucumber and celery (yuck!) are supposed to get rid of excess water weight which might calm down the bloating a bit, but I'd echo lantanna in saying up the speed. Before last week I totally went off food and had no appetite whatsoever, so was only really nibbling on little bits as I felt like I had to.

Hope all you poorly peeps get well soon, I feel your pain :)

shala that fajita mix sounds yummy I'll definitely have to give that a try, it's been years since I had fajitas. Trying to mix our meals up a little bit so we're not eating the same stuff every week. We have loads in the freezer left over from last week so I'll have to have a root through it all later and do some proper meal planning now that my appetite is back with a vengeance.

We are shopping later today so will have to pick some things up for meals today as I've only planned breakfast. Am also job hunting today, secretly as I've not told OH incase it all goes belly up. I've not been happy in my job for about 6 months and figured it's time I put my degree to good use and actually started using my brain every day. Feeling nervous just thinking about changing jobs, hate coming out of my comfort zone but I think it has to be done.

    Have a good day everyone

Arrrggh.. Not been on for over a week and have had 2 weigh ins....So far I have lost 3.5lbs which is quite a slow loss, but I did the same last time with an initally slow start and went on to lose 3.5 stone so not too disheartened.

hope everyone has a good week!
