Does anybody have any thoughts on the time of day that you eat having an effect on your weightloss? I tend to hoard my syns for the evening cos I'm a picker. I also have quite a large evening meal at about 5.30-6pm. By comparison I don't eat very much during the day.

There was a couple of point on this on the most recent "Trust me I'm a doctor", should still be on iPlayer. The most interesting one was when they fed him 2 identical meals, one in the morning and one in the evening and measured blood fat etc. Levels remained high a lot longer after the evening meal. They followed this up by locking him in a room all day and night with only small snacks and found that the blood fat levels increase towards bedtime regardless of eating. Theory is this is to feed the brain while we sleep. Anyway, they thought a heavy meal late at night raised levels even higher and could contribute to fat being stored.

The 2nd theory was to move breakfast 90 mins later and dinner 90 mins earlier. They thought this worked, but to I'd think it's only logical that you would eat less at lunch and dinner if they were much closer together.

Sorry Lush should have said welcome back before now! Good news about the wedding.

Went to WI this morning and really surprised to have lost 1.5lb which has brought me back into target range again so didn't have to pay - result!

Just hope it doesn't come back to bite me on the b*m next week.

    EE again today:

    B - fruit after WI
L - egg mayo & salad on WM Thin - had it as 2 open sandwiches, bit awkward to eat but feels like I'm eating more
D - potato burger (bought in France) which is basically a burger in between 2 hash browns. Have used the syn calculator and it works out at 13 syns:eek:. Will have with more salad.

Glad I only bought one box of these. With a bit of luck DH will eat the other 2 before I end up including it in the meal plan again, LOL!

    HEA - 300ml 1% milk
    HEB - WM Thin

    Syns - potato burger 13. 1 small choc 2

    Good Afternoon :)

Well done to all the losers :T:T:T

    +1 this week :(
  • Still making progress bit by tiny bit on the "clothes fitting index".:) Another pair of knickers went in the bin yesterday for being too big for me now:). Not there yet on the knicker front - as another pair of knickers (ie in the small bikini bottom style) are still digging in a bit and stomach visibly bulging a lot over the top of them:( My watch is starting to slide around on my wrist now:).

    Oh well...Rome wasn't built in a day...

Wish this weather would improve - so that I could "go for walks" - rather than just doing walking "From A to B" to get to something I've planned.

Just remembered I'm away this weekend so not weighing in! There is a good chance I wont be entirely on plan this weekend, visiting a friend I haven't seen in a long time and I don't really expect her to accommodate slimming world. I normally have a cheat day on weigh day anyway though so it won't be much different from normal!
    Good luck everyone else :)

There's an article on the BBC website linked in with this which I found quite interesting: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-35290671 - it sounds like, based on a small sample, those who had a smaller eating window ended up losing more fat and cholesterol - one thing they're attributing this to is the extended 'fasting' period. It's certainly interesting, but don't think it would work for me and my lifestyle currently - would find it very hard to restrict my eating to a narrower window. Also, I actually quite like having a snack in the evening, and don't feel it's doing me much harm at the moment. If I reach a point where my weight loss stalls, that might be something I think about changing.

I don't use it, but I know it's like sour cream. And also 1 syn per tablespoon for the reduced fat varieties so I would use it sparingly!
  • I see no reason not to throw any/every idea into the mix that will help - so not just a 12 hour window of not eating every 24 hours (that sounds perfectly possible for me personally = finish eating dinner by no later than 7pm and don't have breakfast next day till 7am) and I think I must be about doing that now.

Add in taking kelp tablets - for the minerals in them.

Add in making sure my gut bacteria are the correct ones. That's an idea I certainly go with - ie that a lot of the good bacteria in our guts has been destroyed by things like antibiotics, seem to recall processed food does too. So - yep things like live yogurt, kefir and that's part of why I'm getting into fermented food. After all - they've experimented on some poor animals haven't they? - and duly found that mice with correct gut bacteria stay slim and those who've had that as mucked-around as many people have experience greater problems with that. That's my memory of what that research said anyways....
