Having second thoughts about the idea of trying different vinegars in sparkling water/soda water/etc - after having picked up the idea from Jack Monroe.

Now trying pomegranate molasses in soda water. That's much more like it. Does anyone know if there are any Syns in pomegranate molasses? I'm imagining that must be negligible as well - as my bottle of it (Marigold brand) says its 294 kcal per 100 grammes. If my maths is correct - that means 20 teaspoons worth is 294 ml and therefore a teaspoon worth to flavour my soda water would be about 15 calories. Hence I shouldn't think it counts for Syning?

I always thought that 20cals = 1syn. So I'd count it as 1 syn to be honest. Molasses is basically sugar, just in a different form, and a teaspoon of sugar is normally 1 syn.

Did anyone see the article in the Daily Mail saying that tonight at 8:02 is the time most people quit their diets?

Well if everyone else is quitting I don't mind being on that band wagon :rotfl: unfortunately we all know we can't :(;)
money that ChocShot liquid chocolate sounds too good to be true, I'll have to have a look for it!

They have three Treeny - normal choc, choc orange and the new coconut choc one. I wasn't that impressed with the orangey one but the coconut one is nice (if you like coconut)

Not sure what i'm eating yet for tea so won't post my menu, I have BNS lasagne to eat but OH has said it's not very nice :( he said the BNS isn't very soft, I might have to pick it apart and cook the BNS a bit longer *sigh*

I have filled my freezer up from the butchers today though :j made a few dump bags (beef stew, chipotle chicken, chicken teriyaki, BBQ pulled pork and marinated some half chickens) so they're ready for slow cooker days :T and then have more chicken, pork and mince for anything we fancy.. should last us a while:T

hope everyone is prepared for the weekend!!

Could I just remind everyone please to make your targets and losses as easy to see as possible.. i'm struggling to pick some up as I read the thread at work then just skim it when i'm home to pick the results up :D thank you!!!

Yes, the 20 calories rule for non-free food is right. I would count 1 syn per teaspoon as well.

I'm also a fan of choc shot, the orange one in particular. Mainly add it to my coffees, which is why there's a small syn value on my breakfasts most days. :D

Hey everyone! Sorry I've not replied or posted in a few days. Back at work now so less time and I'm not sure how to quote people but I'm going to work on it!

    Shala-moo my target is -10lbs

I've been pretty good this week so tonight I've got a syn free curry and rice and a not-so-syn-free naan bread :) I made an almost syn free cheesecake for pud too so I'm gonna stuff my face tonight :)

My friend gave me a recipe for choc brownies that are 0.5 syns per brownie. I'm going to try it tomorrow and see how I get on.

    Enjoy your weekend everyone :)

Ooh, just had a thought. If the choc shot company did caramel shots too I can see a salted chocolate caramel dessert in my future.... that'd be amazing :)

Debjay - Delia uses more apples in her version than I do. I only use one eating apple and as there is so little in a portion I don't bother synning it, however if you add a pound of apples to the cabbage you might need to syn it at, say, 0.5 syn per portion.

Money - I don't know for definite but I wouldn't think using dried mushrooms would be synned - after all it's only replacing the water which has already been taken from them. I certainly wouldn't syn them. So go on, give it a go and enjoy the flavour it adds.

    Denise

Thanks Denise. Do apples need synning generally? I was thinking more of the butter and sugar rather than the apples. I've a lot to learn :o

Molasses are 2 syns per 1 tbsp according to the online database!

Apples and most fruits are synned if they are cooked Debjay.
