That's definitely the approach I take. Another thing that works is for other family members to have treats when away from home. So, in your example, I might encourage DH to have a slice of carrot cake when out rather than risk having a whole cake calling to me at home.

MrsR, I think Sainsbury's own brand diet drinks may be free from aspartame but they may have other things in them that don't agree with you. Certainly worth checking them out. Vimto might be OK too.

I'm going to put the SC on with a batch of Bolognese for the freezer as I'm out of HM ready meals at the moment.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS Grapefruit, HEB porage, HEA milk
L: veggie omelette (mushrooms, spring onions, tomato) with pickles
D: lamb shank on trivet of parsnips, leeks and carrots with SW roasties and something green (broccoli? cabbage?)
Syns: squirt of syrup, weekend wine;).

Personally I did SW for a couple of years lost weight but found it was making me saggy and got low iron levels. When you stop even if you eat a balance diet the weight piles on. SW is not great for your metabolism.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

Apologies if this seems antagonistic and thank you for your opinion, however if you follow slimming world with your 1/3 speed foods then it is a balanced diet. Personally, I believe the weight re-gain comes from going back to old habits i.e. over eating, extra treats.

Maybe you followed it back in the days of red/green days when it wasn't so balanced and the emphasis wasn't on filling up with healthy veg and fruit but using high carb foods such as pasta n sauce and mug shots to fill up on..

I'm not sure how you've come to the conclusion that SW lowers your metabolism as this generally only happens if you starve yourself for a long period of time which is not what any diets advocate.

And for your final point, any diet is going to cause sagginess if your skin has stretched and you don't do the relevant exercise to tone up at the same time, did you have a lot to lose?

I hope you found a way to help you lose weight, SW isn't for everyone.

Well I can confirm the Shanghai noodles were lovely! I had them with a lovely big bit of salmon and am very impressed for 3 Syns. It actually smelled like a Chinese meal when it arrived as well, I was really pleased. I'm a real wuss too B_E_G but I've had the five bean and normal chilli before and it was fine - fill yer boots!

Tete - I find it fairly easy to stick to plan when at home (I've been full time at home for 6 years now - off sick for 2 years then retired 4 years ago). The key is to plan properly and only have SW friendly foods in or if someone else in the house wants synful stuff then make sure it's food you don't particularly like! It works for me.

Well it's just me and the cat so in theory, as long as I stick to my shopping list, I should be fine (don't fancy her food much!). My danger area is drinking loads of coffee as I take sugar and don't like sweetener, and my HEA milk only does about four cups. I'd also be in danger of picking a lot and even if it's all fruit and veg it's still all extra cals isn't it? I'll have to be very strict about switching to peppermint tea after 2 coffees.

    Today:
    B - Five coffees :o (HEA, 5)
D - Shanghai noodles with salmon (3), diet Pepsi
T - (Will be) Leftover speedy spag bol
Other - Coffee (2), 5x M&S boiled sweets (5) - need to chuck these in the bin!!
    TOTAL: 15 and no HEB

Can I swap my HEB for a 2 Syn hot chocolate later, just this once? :(

Lots of love to you TIE, I don't know what else to say! Hope you find a way forward xx

Thanks for that shala. That's exactly what I was thinking and you explained it so well. I wonder why anyone would feel the need to come on our thread and post that. Maybe feeling down at having lost and then allowed themselves to put it back on?? Who knows? Sad really.

I think you'd be safe snacking on veg tete. Going OTT on fruit might be an issue but you're fine with veg. I almost never have any Speed with breakfast so I'll eat as much as possible for the rest of the day, usually 50% of each meal.

Not a happy bunny :footie: :(
  • Went for a walk and a roast dinner today. Had pudding too which was delicious. Am trying to remain syn free the rest of the day, had wheaties and a banana for breakfast. Keep looking at the pile of American chocolate I won in a Facebook competition but genuinely don't fancy any of it. This is very unusual for me but I'm
Hoping it's a sign of a mindset change...

    ...tweets,
for the uneducated amongst us would this have something to do with the footy results? Do we have to borrow Shala's pokey stick and tell you to step away from temptation as a result:rotfl:.

Shala following on from the football reference "well defended," not sure I begin to understand some people, but if they are "listening" perhaps they would like the right to reply? I for one embrace any saggy bits as they are better then the inflated ones :D.

I'm not sure how things are going at the moment in terms of food consumption, I can't wait to get back to the gym as for me this makes a huge difference to my weight loss and my general well being.

So I've tried to ease myself into SW today. It's very strange for me not to have to weigh stuff. It's not been a perfect day but I've hit my 5 a day for once so it's improving on what was.
    So
B - Dorset chocolate granola with skim milk (totally not on plan here)
L - 2 eggs scrambled, 1/2 packet smart price smoked salmon trimmings, salad, cucumber, tomato & red pepper hummous
D - SW recipe beef curry (but I used lamb & trimmed the fat off) which had butternut squash and mushrooms in with couscous.
S - carrot and red pepper hummous, frozen raspberries microwaved & @sda gfy vanilla ice cream. Oh and 2 cans diet coke.

Will prob have something else - will try and stick to fruit or veg. I'm not a big fruit eater but can munch on carrot, cucumber and pepper sticks til the cows come home.

Need to plan my meals for tomorrow - back to work after a week off (in Zagreb, well 4 days). First group at 5pm tomorrow evening.
