Ooh thanks B_E_G, I'm thinking either those or five bean chilli or a jacket spud with good old beans. Good to have a few ideas as they invariably don't have my first option whenever I go and I end up panic-choosing something that I don't want at all!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

Morning everyone
I'm back on the wagon today after 2 horrible self sabotagey days. Trying an SP day today to get me back on track
B - carrot cake baked oats & fruit
L - BGTY burgers (1 syn each) with carrot chips and mushy peas
T - Egg tomato & ham muffins with bacon medallions & beans
Saving my HEA for a protein shake (plus 6 syns) later after a weights workout this afternoon. 2nd HEB will probably be toast at some point
Welcome to the newcomers :hello:
Well done everyone who's lost weight this week :T I had a sneaky WI this morning and didn't like what I saw so I have 3 days to reverse the damage hence the SP days. I've come to the conclusion that I simply can't have bad food in the house because when I have a bit of a blue day I just turn to food for comfort I can't seem to stop myself. I wish I was one of those people who can have junky stuff in the house and just not touch it until they fancy a bit, then just have one bit .. I'd have one bit and go 'ooh that bit was nice i'll have 10 more bits' :rotfl:
I find that being on SW has made my food bill increase louise but that's only because previously we'd been living off ready meals and frozen chips and god knows what else. But if you shop around there are bargains to be had .. aldi super 6 for example. I don't drive so tend to get an online shop from Tesco which I think has gone up in price lately so maybe that's why I'm feeling the pinch a bit more. I hate that eating better is more expensive than eating rubbish, surely it should be the other way round. We feel better for it anyway, I have bags more energy when I'm following the plan properly that is
Have a fantastic Sunday everyone0 -
Also dont forget that it is generally cheaper to buy fruit and veg loose per kilo rather than prepackaged. Not always but most of the time it works out cheaper (not so true for @ldi and the super six more for the big 4).
Got a bit peckish during my audio transcription so I went downstairs and cut a carrot into batons and had some humous as well. The humous may not be as good as I think it is but it's better than what I normally would have done before. Anyway back to it. Deadline in 55 minutes!0 -
The carrot cake recipe sounds good Shala, but I tend to avoid 'pretend' foods like that as it's never the same as the real thing, and carrot cake is A. my favourite and B. the most calorific cake there is. :rotfl:
I should have said, I wasn't substituting it for cake, it was my breakfast baked oats that I just flavoured with carrot - to get extra speed in me and to make them taste nice.I'm not keen on porridge but when it's baked it's quite nice.
Just remembered Denise if your hubby is that desperate for carrot cake then Not Nigella (on Facebook) does some lower syn version using cake mix and diet fizzy pop.. Think they're still 6-7 syns though. Again not like the real thing unfortunately...maybe you can treat him to a portion at a cafe one of the days instead

OH had this the other week, it looked lovely (as I was eating my burger and chips :rotfl:) it's good that places now do healthier options, you can join in but keep to plan.
OH has gone out paint balling today so I'm having a peaceful day, didn't get up until late so I've skipped breakfast and heading straight for lunch.

Tete - I find it fairly easy to stick to plan when at home (I've been full time at home for 6 years now - off sick for 2 years then retired 4 years ago). The key is to plan properly and only have SW friendly foods in or if someone else in the house wants synful stuff then make sure it's food you don't particularly like! It works for me.
At Weatherspoons I love the Shanghai noodles - had it with the shaved steak last time.

Thanks everyone, I'm day 3 back on the wagon and already feel better. It's amazing the effect of bread and junk food has on my body.
I'm on a relatively tight food budget as we have to cater for Missy H's intolerances (free from food is really really expensive) we shop around but buy the majority of our food from Aldi.
I find cooking from scratch and meal planing help keep the costs down. We find good quality meat is more expensive but you need less to feel full. I bulk mince out with loads of veggies like onions, mushrooms, peppers, grate courgette/carrot to make it stretch two meals instead of one and often make meat free dishes like veggie bean chillie with kidney/butter/baked beans and chickpeas with the usually veggies thrown in..... you still get your protein hit but it costs less.
Fruit is gernerally more expensive then veggies and although both speed food veg is a better choice due to natural sugar levels. I buy frozen berries for my porrige/over night oats/to have with meringues and stick to melon/apples/pears and satsumas as they are usual cheaper. Carrot sticks/cucumber/celery/peppers are good for snacking on and the Sw free humous is nice.
I tend to buy Aldi benefit light bars or alpen lights if they are £1 a box instead of hi fi bars as they are cheaper same with yoghurts, I get the aldi version of mullerlights although they are 0.5-1.5 syns each it stops me eating them in bulk as they are full of sugar too!
Today:
B: Porridge (b) yoghurt and berries, pearBBQ pulled pork with roast potatoes(2 syns oil), broccili, carrots and green beans
Later on Ham and egg salad with beetroot (2 syns exlight mayo)
He A milk for teas Syns will be a kitkat maybe (5.5 syns)

Oooohhh I haven't tried the five bean chilli tete- bit of a wimp when it comes to spices I'm afraid. Hate it when the majority of time the low syn option for jacket pots when out is baked beans:(. Think it is a good idea to have a couple of options when eating out too - good to have meals out/entertain at home and know that you can stick within plan (well most of the time anyway). At the beginning of doing SW I would try and avoid eating out until I realised that the majority of time there are options we can have - it's just having the willpower to choose the right thing :rotfl:.
