Has anyone joined with a relatively small amount to lose 2st and under? Will it still work? :)

I didn't have much to lose. I originally lost 1.5 stone but got told off by my GP for losing too much! She said I needed to be 1/2 stone heavier in order to fight off chest infections as I suffer from COPD so had to put it back on! I've been at target for over 5 years now.

So to answer your question yes it does work if you only have a smallish amount to lose. You need to have to lose at least 7lb in order to join SW.

I know you said you don't have time to go to group but could you go just the once to have the new member talk and get the books. It would cost a couple of hours of your time (and you can take the kids with you if you want to) and less than £10.

    I did think of that.
Does anyone know how much the books are? Does the food directory have every item in it or do you still need the free branded foods and the low syn snack?

If you can get to a group just once then that would be best but they do sell the packs on EBay.. Last time I looked they were about £20. At class it's £15 I think for the first week, obviously less if there's a voucher knocking about.

You can get most syns off the internet these days so not sure it would be worth you buying a syns directory. Google, minimins or the Syns Allowed Facebook group are brilliant for syns... And more up to date than the book I imagine.

There is a joining offer on at the moment so it would be less than £10 for the 1st week (£5 to join and £4.95 for the 1st week = £9.95).

You really don't need the free branded foods and low syn snack books - I've never had them and I joined back in 2010!

You can look at sample menus on the SW website with some recipes. Certainly worth a look.

As Shala said you can find syn values on various websites, including by asking on this thread.

    Morning all :)

I managed to get some 5% pork mince yesterday and did the Dutch meatball recipe from the magazine last night - they were very good. The recipe suggested serving with a salad and mustard sauce but I didn't do those, I'm a bit anti salad at the moment, its too cold, and I ate loads all winter. We had chantenay carrots with them instead. The pork mince was good value - 2 x 250g packs for £2 in Morrisons.

    Ooh Shala , 3lbs, - well done!

Really pleased for you and your new man Meg. :kisses2:

How's it going with you and your love interest Lantanna?

TIE - the rice could have been contaminated during production, or the package might not have been sealed properly. If the other packs are the same, the manufacturers should do further investigation as the whole batch might be affected in which case they need to make the public aware.

Louise1234 - I've got a copy of the food directory and tbh, I hardly use it. As others have said, there's so much information available online now, books are unnecessary. The SW plan works whether you have a lot or a little to lose as long as you stick to the plan.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Morning all,

yesterday went downhill fast :( but new day! Off to doctors shortly - I have had a funny thing happen to my arm (woke up last week with a huge burn like blister which popped and i'm now almost sure it's infected and the pain is ridiculous (up my forearm in to my hand and down to my elbow)so I have caved and will see the nurse) childish part of me expects them to chop my arm off haha!

    Today:
breakfast - porridge (heb made with part hea) with peanut butter (4) and a banana
lunch - leftover lasagne (managed to get 6 portions not 4 from it so syns are 6.5) with peas and sweetcorn
tea - chicken with rice and sauce (about 4 syn)

I too think of you Meg, especially when looking for some yellow stickers, glad everything is going well with the man. Sounds like a good way of life as you are too me, besides turn up eat the chocolate, leave and get the 2 lbs off again winner lol.

Ah Lois, he's still there, still just a friend. He got a card on Valentines Day which wasn't from me but I think he thought it was and that sort of led to a lot of misunderstandings and a row. Would take a long time to explain lol. He thought it was from me and I was denying that it was, coz it wasn't!!!! You can imagine lol.
No idea. Kind of have the feeling that both of us are kind of skirting about the issue because we are afraid to be rejected etc. But I could also be very very wrong. He could just see me as a friend. If its going to happen it will happen, time will tell. Anyway we are very very good friends and we get on very well so I am happy with that for now.

In other news I was sprinting on the treadmill last night and very pleased with that development! It just happened! My fitness is def going through the roof at the minute! :D
