For those looking to join... agree to try to get to a group once if you can. There's a few free join offers around at the moment, think the current one is in Bella magazine. So you'd just pay £5 for the books, which is a bargain compared to eBay or the online membership. I like going to my group for the social side but if that were to ever change, I'd definitely just do the plan on my own rather than join online.
If you can't get to any group even once and decide to buy the books on eBay, make sure you get the 2015/2016 starter pack as the plan was overhauled at the beginning of last year. It should look something like this (not my image) but the main book you need is the one with the sticker on, the food optimising book.0 -
Are you all exercising much? I wanted to do a Body Magic challenge (just walking) but have let the weather put me off. Hopefully the food plan will see me get a decent first week loss on Monday (as long as going four syns over my allowance today doesn't scupper me!!)
Karen - I am doing SW Online but I only signed up on Monday so it's all new to me. I've found it easy to use so far but a friend also gave me the books so I do use them a lot to check syn values etc. Sign up for some SW Facebook groups, they are full of useful info, as are the girls on here! :-)0 -

Have you joined SYNS ALLOWED on Facebook ?0 -
I bought myself a Fitbit Charge for Christmas (using boosted Tesco points so very MSE!) and am going to make sure I hit my steps, stairs and sleep targets! Walking the school run would be a good start.
I just requested to join the Syns Allowed FB group - looks great, thanks :-)0 -

I have an app on my phone and keep phone on silent in my pocket when in work. We are not allowed to wear fitbits etc so would be a waste for me.
SYNS ALLOWED is good for looking for syns and i have been  at syns in stuff.0 -
Weigh-in today for me! I went to an earlier group as I'm off work and my plan for a blind weigh went out the window and the lady who I forgot to tell told me how much I'd lost!
I'm not too bothered though, I lost 4.5lbs so I'm very chuffed!! :j0 -
Karen - I'm a SW online member, and I have mixed feelings about it to be honest. I have a lot of frustrations with the site, but there are some good aspects too - big recipe database, some useful/interesting articles, and the syns database. I find it quite expensive for what you get, and when I signed up I had no intention of continuing beyond the three month subscription, however that subscription runs out on 18th Jan and at the moment I'm actually leaning towards sticking with it for a while longer, much to my surprise! Going to group really wasn't up my street, and I do think making a financial commitment to SW has probably helped me stick to it on some level too! I would say though that if it's going to be a struggle for you to afford financially, I probably wouldn't bother, there's plenty of info available online, especially the lovely folks on here!
Found a recipe which I'm thinking of trying next week:http://www.marthastewart.com/978784/one-pan-pasta - going to give it a go without the oil and parmesan. If it works it could be a really handy quick meal, and I might start thinking about adding other bits to it. However I've got a feeling I may end up with a watery mess! Anyone ever tried anything like this?0 -
Well. The line has been drawn.
A very large gain.

Weighed in this morning and am totally chuffed to report a 3.5 lb loss.
We didn't have "normal" IMAGE Therapy (even though there were only five new members) but it was good to go through the plan again now.
I'm having an SP day today (not done these very often, my DH is very much a "meat and potatoes" kind of person - that's not to say he doesn't enjoy pasta or rice dishes, but if I served him a chop, some potatoes and peas he'd be happy 6 days out of 7).
After weigh in snack: 2 hifi bars (HEB1) (left my pot of pre-prepared fruit at home).
Lunch: Giant salad bowl with mackerel, cheese (HEA) and pickled onions. Apple.
Mid-afternoon snack: 2 boiled eggs, handful of cherry tomatoes. Packet hula hoops (6 syns)
Dinner: Salmon fillet, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, runner beans, kale.
Late night snack: 2 hifi bars (HEB2)
I thought I'd miss the potatoes with dinner but I didn't. I might do SP more often (although I am sitting here wanting a yoghurt - I suppose I might use lower syn but not free ones)We may not have it all together, but together we have it all
