Getting Slimmer in 16 with Slimming World

I've made up my mind - I'm going to join on Tuesday morning, a 9.30 class. I was a bit reticent as I'll be leaving DH to man the shop, but he leaves me on my own to play golf on Mondays so why not. I prefer an early class, I'll skip breakfast, probably just have a cup of tea first thing.
It says 9.30 on the website, but is that 'doors open' or when the consultant starts Image Therapy? Should I get there earlier for the weigh in?
LL
9.30 will be the start time for weigh in. Image Therapy will be from 10 - 11 ish.
Like Maman I also prefer a morning WI. I only have a couple of cups of tea before WI and then have some fruit at group. I'm on the social committee and do think it helps with keeping going to group.

b_e_g I'm pear shaped, haven't found suitable jeans in Sainsbury's unfortunately - just not long enough in the waist for me. I wear the sculpt slimboot cut from M&S. Expensive for what they are IMO (which I think about most of their clothes now) but they fit really well. I usually pick them up on eBay for under a tenner.
That does remind me of an NSV though. I pulled out my old NYDJ jeans (which are also not worth the money full price, I got them cheap!) which haven't fit for nearly a decade. Gotten close a few times, but never comfortable enough to wear out of the house. They fit now.
Thanks for the jeans info June. I hate it when jeans etc just sit on your hip bones grrrr. I am reluctant to pay a lot for jeans really as I probably wont wear them a great deal but its just good to have some. I will set some time aside and have a sort through tomorrow though. Well done on your NSV :T
Have a lovely anniversary and thanks for the good wishes I don't know about you, but I never thought we would get this far
I used to think that when people reached this age and been married this length of time - they were proper geriatrics :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:. Oh how opinions change :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I thought you had to be asked to be on the social team BEG, didn't realise you could volunteer. I'm not sure I can make it every week though due to working late once a month, sometimes it would fall on a Thursday...
We are crying out for volunteers at one of our classes - trying to get extra people involved so that we have back up for times when people cannot make class for whatever reason. It is difficult though when people have commitments outside of SW. It will probably vary between classes how they recruit the social team - I suppose some will be cliquey (sp ? :rotfl:).

Shala, you can volunteer. You don't get anything special for doing it so consultants are normally happy to get whoever they can to help. Our social team has always been lacking, I'm the only one who knows how to run the pay desk and am also the backup for weigh! So if either of us were off for any reason, the consultant would really struggle. We don't even have regular people to do the shop, raffle and greeting roles. Doesn't help that my consultant isn't very appreciative though, it feels like quite a thankless job at times! I'm not selling it well am I? :rotfl:
Trying to get my head back in it today. I haven't been off plan as such, but have been more concerned with other things. Red day today...
Breakfast - Overnight oats, coffee (A1/B1)
Lunch - Will figure this out!
Dinner - Cheeseburger, BNS chips and salad (A2/B2)0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the info Denise - it's about 20 minutes by car so I'll probably leave at 9.30. I don't really want to be sitting on my own for 20 minutes while everyone sits chatting to their friends.
BEG - I live in jeans and usually have a few in different colours. I like the David Emmanuel ones from Bon Marche, they're a bit more expensive but fit really well and they're flattering. I need some new ones as the ones I'm wearing today were purple when I bought them but they're now dusty pink!
Shala - your tea party sounds great. I must check Iceland out more, they do seem to have some good buys. I popped in there the other day for some lean mince as my local Morrisons have stopped doing it again, and I spent more than £10.00 on other bits and bobs.
The weather is miserable here, cold and wet, and I can count the number of customers we've had so far on the fingers of one hand. DH thinks we should forget opening in April and just do 6 months a year (we do 7) - I'm beginning to think he's got a point, we could be enjoying temperatures in the high 20s in Spain.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Went up for the jeans trying on session this morning only to find a grand total of two pairs (size 18s) :rotfl: - needless to say that the session didn't last too long :rotfl:. I hadnt realised that I had shifted as many pairs on ebay/charity shop. Oh well looks as though I will have to go jeans hunting after all
I sort of fell out with Bon Marche a bit Lois. Our local store is very small, the changing rooms are absolutely horrendous and the staff aren't that much better. I also felt that the prices were starting to go up quite a bit and found I could get comparable or better stuff elsewhere. I suppose the fact that as I lost weight and was no longer restricted to shops that had plus size stock made a difference too. I don't know about their jeans as much but the trousers only used to go up to 29"leg (except an odd black pair).Shala, you can volunteer. Our consultant is so appreciative of any help she can get and always says that she couldn't do the job without the help. The team usually get a small gift at christmas or a free hifi bar when they bring new flavours out but better than all that is just a plain simple 'thank you' it goes an awfully long way I think you will agree. We jokingly said that we need to recruit bouncers on the door - let as many in as we can get but stop people escaping (unless they have a really good excuse) after they have been weighed so that they miss Image Therapy.
Feel a bit drained today and cannot be bothered to do anything.

Hi everyone
The saving my syns for 2 chocs went a bit wrong and I ended up munching through 35 syns of the things :eek: but at least they are out of the way now! I didn't feel as guilty as I usually do after eating chocolate and really enjoyed it so not going to beat myself up. I had a sneaky weigh on the scales this morning and it's not done me too much damage so I'm happy with that. We're planning on going for a jog (well in my case probably a fast walk :rotfl:) later this afternoon as the weather is decent.
Food today
B - grapenuts with 2 lemon yoghurts, satsuma and strawbs
Lunch will probably be snacking on some speed as I had a late brekkie so won't be hungry for ages yet
T - SW fry up - fried egg, bacon, sausage & beans (saving today's syns for richmond thin sausages which are my absolute faves, can't find any sausages which really come close)
Have a super day everyone

Lois, I've been sitting here waiting for the weather to brighten up, it was forecast to be as lovely as yesterday. They're having a laugh! Even the cat only went out for a minute before she was ready to come back in. Six months in Spain sounds lovely, I would be putting it on the plans for next year!
Left a block of chocolate on the side table last night as was too tired to clear up before bed and have just mindlessly chomped on 4 pieces that were loose. I wasn't even particularly fancying chocolate, wouldn't have gone to get it out of the cupboard. So that's 6 syns gone without even realising, oh well.0 -
Afternoon everyone,
Hubby is doing the dinner today and he's been making an SW friendly trifle for us all in individual dishes. We already had the fat free fromage fraise & sugar free jelly. I have calculated the syns and it's 4 syns per serving.
Weighed in yesterday & have lost 2lbs. It was the youngest daughter's birthday on Thursday & we promised her a meal at Hungry Horse & it was lovely!
Our group on Saturday morning starts at 9am. I sometimes try & get there a bit earlier, as I do help out with weighing sometimes & I'm never sure if the usual lady is going to be there. Yesterday I did the shop, as the usual lady wasn't there. The weighing usually finishes about 9.30. Then our consultant will take the tablet & announce the SOTW. Yesterday there were quite a few new members. It makes me laugh when people turn up to get weighed in the middle of image therapy & expect to get weighed. One woman turned up (she wasn't a brand new member), she couldn't get weighed as the consultant had got the tablet, but she ended up leaving as she couldn't wait.
Some people don't like the image therapy thing. I don't mind it, as our consultant likes to talk herself & the spotlight is never on you for that long anyway. I do like to stay as I find it useful & you can pick up so many tips.
Have a good week all!Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670 -
Hello ladies (and maybe gents) *waves*
I'm Stephanie, almost 25 years old and started Slimming World last Tuesday (29th March 2016) and was hoping I could join this board for support?
January 2014 I weighed 14stone and decided enough was enough after my 3rd miscarriage in less than a year. I lost 3 stone by myself (extreme morning sickness thanks to my daughter helped with the majority of it) but I can not seem to get below 11 stone!
I weighed 11 stone 2 on Tuesday morning and I am actually looking forward to my first weigh in on Tuesday!
I have 2 children (almost 4 and 15 months) so they keep me on my toes as far as the exercise goes.
Hope it's OK to post in here:love: My Best Win: My Princess delivered by her daddy 16.12.14
2016: 20 wins approx value of £1200 :j0 -
