Looks like we are divided by liquorice. I’m in the yuck camp – although we did have a cat named Liquorice, whom we love dearly. She got her name because of her colour – the one you get when you discover you’ve got liquorice flavour and spit it out, ie she was a tortoiseshell cat!

Oo er, lantanna, that made me rofl.

You are doing really well, marcsshell.

  • I thought this week was going well until OH took me out for lunch today….. I chose a jacket potato with cheese and beans (no butter) and ate a small amount of the melted cheese, more of the potato and beans and side salad. I've counted the cheese as my HEB and added another 5 syns, does that sound fair? It takes me over on syns for today (18) but I only had 8.5 yesterday and am usually under, so hopefully it won't be too disastrous….. although it is the time of the month when I want to dive head first into a large box of chocolates

I was thinking of trying the Options/ Highlights in yogurt as a low syn chocolate hit, but if anyone has any other ideas they would be gratefully received!

Completely understand everyone's viewpoint about SW consultants too; mine seems very popular but her actual communication of the plan doesn't seem great to me, especially in comparison to my last WW leader who was very enthusiastic and helpful. My consultant always seems too busy to explain things…..
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j

Haven't posted for three days and I can't even begin to catch up with everyone! Well done to all losers and especially target hitters for the challenge - amazing!

Lantanna your new plan sounds v interesting, best of luck!

Thank you for the car advice Lois - I've just checked on We Buy... £435, which is a lot better than the dealer was offering but even so I'll have a bash at selling it myself. Hadn't thought about test drives though! How do you ensure they'll come back? Make them leave their wallet or something??

I had a 'relaxed' weekend, not totally off plan but not totally on plan either. Had a gorgeous pub Sunday dinner which included roasties and gravy and stuffing and a big Yorkshire pud :o but I did resist the creamed cabbage and cheesy mash :A And I had done a 6.5 mile run beforehand!

Yesterday was on plan, finishing on 6.5 Syns, today I was going for a SP day, so please check this!

B - Porridge (HEA, HEB1) with sweetener and 3x passion fruits
D - SW Italian Chicken and Tomato Soup (chicken, bacon, carrots, onion, tinned toms, passata, lemon zest and juice, stock) with bread (HEB2)
T - Balsamic Roast Chicken and Veg from latest mag (chicken, peppers, courgette, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, garlic, balsamic vinegar and soy sauce.
Other: Coffee x2 (HEA, 2 Syns), carrot sticks, loads of mint tea, hot choc x2 (4 Syns)
    TOTAL: 6

Would love to know your thoughts on the above?

Tomorrow I'm out of the office then running so it'll be a lot more convenience foods I'm afraid. Work is still stressful as heck, looking increasingly likely that I won't pass my probabtion - all very unfair and I feel I've been set up to fail but feels futile to fight it. I'm not worried financially and I won't starve, but it's the principle - I'm a really intelligent, reliable, hard working person who has had (parental bereavements aside) two days off sick in 20 years. It angers me to have this blot on my CV through no fault of my own  Anyway, I'm impressed that I'm handling it quite well food-wise so far. It's actually helping me to put my energy into positive things like batch cooking.

Sorry, rant over :o Have a good day tomorrow all! x

Lol Greentiger , well naughty lol

I like liquorice but my body isn't fond of it sans Gallbladder.

Did you know if you have high blood pressure you should avoid liquorice. I told a friend with Hypertension he needed to get off the Bertie Bassetts years ago and you should have seen his face :rotfl:

Oh yes Maman, a small gin will be had. Enjoy London & Adele.

Hope things get a bit better Beanie
  • +1/2LB which is not too bad after the weekend.
Back on track now until Sunday when we make our annual pilgrimage to Gleneagles. No weigh in for me next week as we don't get back until evening.
Can't believe how quickly this year is passing. Easter is just around the corner and after that the cricket season starts which means I'll be baking and trying to avoid it! Arrrggggh! This is when I start to crumble so I shall be clinging to this thread for your support.

Welcome Triker. There's a free join voucher in this week's Bella magazine if you can pick that up. I haven't checked but they're usually valid for a couple of weeks, so hopefully you'll be well enough to attend group before it expires. There's also a sample menu plan that may help you get back into the swing of things, but you can get these on the SW website for free too.

Tete - Your day looks fine to me!

    Red day today...
Breakfast - Cereal with banana and strawberries, coffee (A1,B1)
Lunch - Leftover nacho feast on a roll, salad (A2,B2)
Dinner - Need to figure this out. Feeling really unplanned but all dinners are up in the air due to DH's schedule this week.
    Pudding - Syns as usual!

PS - No liquorice over here! I accidentally bought allsorts once when what I was thinking of was dolly mixture. Yuck!! :p

    Morning all :)

Yesterday went a bit skewiff, the plan was to have an alcohol free day, SP meals and minimum syns but that all went pear shaped in the evening. We went to the quiz and as it was our team's last one AND a team members birthday we had cava and chocolates. Today we're out for dinner again which I've planned for by saving syns but I'll have to be :A the rest of the week

Tete - you're SP menu looks really good. Sorry to hear about your work situation, try not to let it affect your confidence/self esteem - it's their loss. There's advice on Autotrader about dealing with car buyers - here's a link. Last time I sold a car I asked the person to leave their car keys, that wouldn't work if they turn up in an old banger, or on foot though!

Rubyslippers - if you only ate a little bit of cheese I'd say you could just count it as a HEB and not count any syns for your lunch. The JP and beans are free food and salad is speed. I've heard other people who mix Options/Highlights into yogurt, and some who use Quark - I haven't tried it myself but it sounds nice.

Lantanna - I never knew that about liquorice. Interestingly, when I was pregnant I had low blood pressure and I had a craving for liquorice. My body must have known it would help with my BP.

Maman - enjoy London and Adele.

Beanie - happy new broadband. :j

Speaking of broadband, I'll have to go offline on Friday or Saturday as our internet provider will take the modem away before we leave on Monday, so I'll weigh as usual on Monday and hope to get online somewhere en route to Bilbao to report in with (hopefully) 2lb off.

    Have a good day everyone.

  • Afternoon all...we're off for St Paddy's too (it's a bank holiday here :D )

Does anyone know if that Bella voucher works for NI too...I suspect not.

Anyway - trying to figure out what to do about my WI day...as I've said my sis and I are joining a class on Saturday...so as I normally WI on a Friday (first thing at home and just in my undies) so I'm clearly going to weigh more on the SW scales...so shall I just take the hit and go from there?

Also does that put me a week behind weighing in or will it still count as the current week...hope I'm not confusing people lol!!

I'm going to make a bit pot of Irish stew tomorrow and have the whole family round. Looking forward to it :)

ginger - The Bella voucher is valid in both UK and Ireland so you should be fine in NI. Saturday weigh in will count for this week, that's my usual weigh day. SW itself runs Mon-Sat as all counting as the same week (so my weight this week would register on their system as week commencing 14th March, even though my weigh in isn't until the 19th) no classes are held on Sundays otherwise they would count too! :)

I continue to weigh at home even though the scales differ. I use the SW weight as my "official" one, even though it's between 1.5-2lbs heavier (depending on rounding, since SW only works in half pound increments) than my home scales.

Back from our few days away - have been travelling around the south east on the buses. As we've been out and about have eaten out most days but have tried to make sensible choices so synwise most meals have been OK. Wine syns over the period however have been fairly high.

Belated birthday wishes Shala and Maman. I'm another with a March birthday but not until the very end of the month - almost an April Fool!

Not weighing again tomorrow but will do next week as that'll be 4 weeks since my last WI. We're away again for 5 days over Easter so more wine syns than usual probably!

Today has been fairly good with just a few syns for a small piece of part baked French stick with my lunchtime lentil & carrot soup.

Tonight's dinner was pork balls in a hoisin broth which I think was a SP meal as no carbs with it. Enough left for lunch tomorrow.

    Denise
