Good morning all, the Sun is lovely here today though its very cold, noticed the daffs in the garden are coming out, always a boost for the mood for me.
Not been posting, though read and thank, keyboard has been a pig, just types goggledegoop, hopefully its been fixed now.
Well I am no nearer knowing what knocked me flat on my bum at New Year
all tests are proving normal, brain, heart, kidneys, liver , blood count etc.
The blood tests have shown that my thyroid is going underactive and have another test in a couple of weeks so this would explain the general cba mood. Not smoking isn't helping mood either as have gained a bit of weight 2lb since new year, but am taking the view that's not really too bad and as long as I am aware of it and be good for a couple of days it will shift. I am still 1lb under target.
Sooooooo time to put on a wiggle and chuck the negativity me thinks,
Conrats to all some great losses and hus to all that need one.Slimming World at target0 -
Hello - I'm a lurker (and on again off again follower of SW - I've tried to take part in a couple of challenges but not really got anywhere...or rather gone the wrong direction!!)
I know that SW is such a healthy diet to follow - loads of veg and fruit and also lots of home cooking...my problem is my liking of wine too much so end up following the plan and failing cos of sinking glasses of wine every night as well!
So I find myself the heaviest I've been in many years (my previous heaviest sticking point being 14.4)...but my daughter moved away to Oz last year and I think I fell into some kind of depression/sadness and comfort ate and now I'm a good 15 and a half stone (will WI Monday when I start in ernest)
I'm so fed up of being fat, bloated, having no clothes that fit (two work tops that I circulate...I refuse to buy any more big ones)
My sister had a health scare recently (she's about 4 stone heavier than me...but we share the same genetics...where she was diagnosed as pre-diabetic with liver issues. She's really turned herself around and is sticking religiously to the Michael Mosely 8 week diabetic weight loss plan...and has lost 17lb so far.
And I realise that I really need to get my act together!! There is no one holding me back but me.
I have a holiday in July booked with DH and the prospect of a family wedding in 2017 (my DD is getting engaged this year) - so I really can't blame anyone but myself if I'm not ready for these!!
So I'm off the wine (all week - will syn wine for weekends) and I've been doing the plan for a couple of days.
I'd love to join in your next challenge when it starts, as I say I'll WI on Monday and go from there but in the meantime I'll log my food.
Hope it's ok to join (again!!)0 -
Hi, oh I have not been well today. I keep getting stomach pains after. I have eaten Then I feel sick and. Sweating. So I haven't' eaten all my meals. I think if it's the same tomorrow I shall have to go to the doctors, but, I'm scared. After having had the big C I now feel afraid it could have started somewhere else. Also my stomach is always swollen as though i were pregnant. I can't be at 75 lol I am not doing my menu for tomorrow. I shall see how I feel.

Weighed in this morning and pleased to see a 1.5lb loss after last week's gain so that's put me in a good mood. I had hoped for a little more but star week is looming so I'm happy with the loss. Well done the losers this week :T
I quite like the sound of that carrot cake but have never tried scan bran before. Have seen it in H&B a few times but never really fancied it. I feel like I eat the same HEBs all the time though so I may give it a go.
Food today:
B - frosted shreddies with milk, banana & nectarine
L - subway salad bowl
Have not planned tea yet, always have a treat meal on weigh day so will see what we fancy nearer the time
I'm a busy bunny today cleaning and tidying the pigsty we live in as we have workmen in either tomorrow or Friday fitting us new windows. Not sure why I'm cleaning as I'm sure they'll leave a right mess but it might burn me some extra calories
Have a lovely sunshiney day everyone
Well done on the losses front ladies :T:T:THi all. New here! Day 3 on SW Online.
Main question so far is about portion size. The eat as much as you like (of the right stuff) thing seems too good to be true and is ringing alarm bells with me because it's so at odds with traditional calorie based diets. My bowl of porridge this morning was of the 35g weight and made with water (with a splash of semi skimmed) but once I'd padded it out with frozen berries and a grated apple it just seemed enormous. Tonight is home made veg & bean chilli (made the SW way of course) with a jacket spud the size of a small melon. No butter or cheese obviously but still. It won't be small! Lunch will probably be fruit and some rice with soy sauce or something.
I've stopped drinking for now - was averaging most of a bottle, most days
Can you clever people reassure me that this sounds ok and that I will lose weight eating like this, or is it really too good to be true? Obviously I understand that eating less will result in faster weight loss but I'm not looking for the fastest results, just slow & steady will do me, in exchange for not feeling hungry all the time.
Thanks all! X
Welcome aboard Morello :hello:

Not sure what you meant by EE or veggie - I've just joined and doing Food Optimising. Free foods/healthy a+b/syns. Not particularly aiming to eat veggie, just find it easier and quicker.
I'm getting the feeling that not all Free foods are equally free - are veg more Free than rice/potatoes/pasta? Common sense tells me they are, but they're all on the Free list?
One more question (sorry!) I have a Nutribullet - are fruit & veg equally free when whizzed up into a smoothie?
Thanks!0 -

Welcome to the SW thread.
It is the EE (Extra Easy) plan that consultant talk about now. The Green plan is an old plan which was good for vegetarians. For the time being it's probably best to stick with EE and once you understand the plan look into the old plans if you want to.
As you say not all Free foods are equal. Your consultant should have told you that most veg and some fruits are Speed foods and that you should have at least 1/3 of your plate as Speed foods - rather than Free foods.
Have a read of the first post to get more information or read the book you were given at Group.
As Maman said you need to have your syns every day as they are part of the plan. You won't lose weight more quickly by not eating (or drinking) your syns - they are an essential part of the plan.
Any fruit that is not eaten whole or chopped needs to be synned so smoothies are high in syns and not recommended.
However if you cook veg and whizz it into soup it is still Free (and generally Speed). It's one of the anomalies of the plan but does work.

Morello - The best foods to eat out of the free section are those marked with an S symbol (for fruits and veg) and those with a P symbol (everything else) but nothing in that section is off limits in any way! But as Denise said, the most important part is making sure that at least a third of your plate at every meal is made up of speed foods - those are the ones marked with the S. Some people do prefer to balance over the course of the day, as not all meals really suit the format, but it's best to keep in this habit as much as you can. So if you're having say porridge and banana (one I see a lot), add some strawberries or raspberries as well to have the speed element. I love the banana and raspberry combo!
If you don't want to use your syns on anything else and really do like your smoothies, you can syn them but the syns add up pretty quickly - especially if you're using the sweeter free (not speed) fruits like mango and such. I believe pureed (not juiced!) veg is fine if you like green smoothies, but not sure if this is recommended too often as it's not something I do so haven't checked. If you have access to the SW website, you could try searching in the features about it - sure they've written something!0
