  • And just to add to the good news, I have weighed this morning and 4lbs OFF this week.

Yay. Although, to be fair, that's probably cos I've not eaten anything since Saturday. :/

I don't suppose that loss will be sustainable :)

    Good morning everyone,

Hurdy good news re your friend's little girl. The Dr's and NHS perform miracles. I checked in my purse to make sure I was carrying my donor card. It is good to hear that the system works, but sobering non the less.

Congrats to you and Beslsy for SOTW.

Saving most of my syns for my weekend away seems to have worked, as I'd like to report a loss of -2lbs please Shala.
I'm not sure I can join the next challenge, as I'm due to have an op, and for the first few weeks at least I'll be the proud owner of a heavy plaster cast.. I think after a couple of weeks It will be changed for an air boot. My movement and activity levels will also be severely curtailed so I am praying that I still lose a bit.

Hope everyone has a good week.

    Thanks for yesterday's encouragement, peeps.

I did spend some Syns yesterday on apple pie and custard, but so happy to have been able to have proper healthy food all day and not spend too much either. Got some YS mackerel fillets, and pan-fried in Fry Light to have with YS cabbage, the last of my bag of carrots and mash.

I got a chicken out the freezer (organised!) so tonight wil be roast chicken with YS mashed swede and YS parsnips and YS cabbage (again) with a little spend on gravy.

OH wants the rest of the pie tonight, and I may have mine hot, no custard, save on Syns.
    Keep reading books!
    July grocery challenge START: £150.
    total SPENT £127.53, REMAINING £22.37.

Abbafan - NSV means Non Scale Victory.

Well done Hurdy & Belsy on being our joint SOTW.

Good news about the little girl. Hope she continues to get better.

DH cooked breakfast this morning so a quick change of plan for today!

B - bacon, eggs, mushrooms, beans & fried up LO potatoes
L - HM sweet potato & pepper soup; HEB thin
D - Lamb chop; mash, brussels & green beans. Splash of gravy - 1 syn

HEA will be 1% milk as usual. Not sure what other syns (if any) I'll have but I've got some spare if needed.

Went all of yesterday without chocolate! That's a big thing for me as I'd been having it daily for months and it was really becoming a picky habit the past couple of weeks. I did end up having a hifi for pudding and they're almost all chocolate flavoured, but I'm still counting it as an achievement as I didn't even sneak a single button while packing DH's lunch.

    Today...
Breakfast - Weetabix, fruit and coffee (A/B1)
Lunch - Eggs and salad remnants
    Dinner - Courgetti bolognese

Syns and B2 to be decided.

Sneaky peek on the scales today shows I'm already 1lb down from Saturday so fingers crossed I can get the other pound off in time for weigh in. Would love to reach my 3st award this month!

Tete - I always make my porridge with water. It started when I was having porridge at work, as I need non-dairy milk and didn't want to keep a carton there due to inconsiderate coworkers. Can't say I notice much difference to milk porridge, most of the creaminess comes from the oats themselves.

No probs Tete, didn't read it as a dig.. just wanted to explain. It's such a friendly thread but so easy for people to read things wrong that I find it's best to explain sometimes - I'm probably over thinking it as usual though :rotfl:

Some brilliant losses :T:T you lot always amaze me..

Beanie - hope you're ok. Big hugs xxx

Hugs to Beanie, BEG and Hurdy!

Families Beanie, less said the better some times, chin up xx

Great news Hurdy, really hoping everything works out well. Sounds like she is in the right place anyway.

My goodness Abbafan - yes get on the phone to the Drs. I found out at the end of my scan which was on a Sunday morning and then the Drs were on the phone at 8.30 on the Monday morning looking for me to get down there. Fingers crossed you don't have them as its not pleasant. But you should def know either way by now!

STS for me - I just got away with it I imagine. I'm happy with the 6 lbs I've lost in this challenge!

Must be extra good this week so it doesn't catch up with me!!!

BEG - I have been there before, no better off at the end of the challenge or worse off a couple of times. :o So I know how you feel. Think that's a great idea about the Countdown.

Though I agree with Maman it can take ages to get the last bits off, so if that's really what you want to lose more, don't give up. It took me from 8 months to lose my last stone and a half so don't be disheartened at all and you don't need to make your mind up on it until you decide too.

Not sure if I'm too early Shala but I will go for 6 lbs for the next challenge please.

Change of plan for lunch! Went shopping and got some reduced carrots so it's carrot & lentil soup instead of the planned pepper & sweet potato; peppers can stay in the freezer and the sweet potatoes will keep a bit longer than the carrots.

maman - I think the aldi lamb is called "slow cooked minted lamb shoulder" - it was in a box near all the pulled pork type things. 2 syns for the whole box :D

The asda snack pots come in various flavours but tend are all based around couscous/quinoa/Bulgar wheat/lentils - you just add hot water and wait 10 minutes so super convenient.

The two couscous ones are the lowest syn, and it's these I tend to have - spicy morrocan style lentil and couscous, which is 1.5syns, and tomato and basil couscous and quinuoa, which is now 1 syn. For the latter, I think I was originally using an estimated syn value from Facebook, so the 1syn is just the official value now it's on SW online :D

Thanks for the info. on the snackpots rebster. It's useful to know what's available ready-made low syn as it's not always possible to cook from scratch. Lush was asking for savoury snacks just the other day. Sorry to hear the pub was disappointing. I eat out a lot and I'm always cross if the food's not at least as good as I can do at home.

Thanks both, will look out for the lamb for me and littlie - OH not a great fan of lamb or mint!

I will have a look at those ASDA snack pots; I've avoided them mostly because I have no idea what bulgar wheat or quinoa tastes like or is like texture wise however I do want some low syn quick snack for work/emergency car box etc. Think I will do this month's big shop between ASDA and Iceland (top ups tend to be Aldi). I'm guessing these are those ones in yellow little pots near the other instant snacks?

    today:
Breakfast: HeB porridge made with water, cup of tea with milk from HeA
lunch: salad: pasta, pickled onions, cucumber, baby plum toms, beetroot, hardboiled egg and some ready cooked chicken (even though OH won't use this now I think I will keep a bag of these frozen ready to eat chicken breast slices in the freezer as so handy for lunches!) 3 syns of mayo. a lot for me at the moment but everything bar the chicken was really rather dry and unappealing. Must buy more of that free dressing as I like that! muller light greek style 0.5 syn
mid afternoon: Satsuma and a few grapes (from a snack pack littlie had so not masses of grapes but enough) 3 choc fingers (5 syn?)
tea: meatballs (sw free) with pasta and tom sauce. Going to bake the meatballs rather than fry then just put them in the sauce and heat through as I'm fed up with the frying pan setting the smoke alarm off! haha
evening: hot choc. This is a Cadbury highlights one which is hazelnut flavour so I'm hoping its around 2syns?
    total syns: 11/12

going to go across the road for a walk and get littlie a present (some £1 stickers/similar) as she has been out with OH this morning (first full Tuesday together with no nursery etc) and was exceptionally good. held his hand round the whole retail park, if she lost contact with his hand she'd just stop dead until she had him again, carried little things to the till and waited whilst he paid and put them in the bag on the back of his chair and said bye to the cashiers :P really proud of how well she does with him considering most kids would take advantage of him being in a wheelchair and run off!

pay day is Thursday; plan is to stock up in ASDA on healthy things (and mullerlights from morrisons on the offer) then the card will be left at home on work days (will keep an 'allowance' of £10 in my purse, and some in the car for emergency fuel/parking) then I can't spend on all the extra snacks!

  • Hi everyone

I've been lurking for a few weeks now, well and truly off the wagon and feeling pretty poo for it

Hurdy what amazing news about your friend's little girl. Really made me well up at my desk, I wasn't expecting news to come that quickly.

I'm determined to get sorted out before the next challenge starts, I started off this year so well, then fell off the wagon and I can't seem to pull myself back up onto it. OH has started working back in an office, so he's not around to do the washing up the next day if it doesn't get done in the evening, and recently neither of us have any energy to do any cooking in the evenings anyway, in fact I've been struggling to find the energy to even make overnight oats! We've been eating loads of wheat and sugar and it's been affecting my digestion, my energy levels and my sleep. I might just have to find some low syn frozen/convenience foods and plan a couple of weeks based around that to get us on the right track. I was planning to start back at the gym from next week, and start going out for runs before work by 1st April, but we'll see how that goes. I'm just fed up of feeling knackered and fat.

I'm sorry for such a negative post, but I'm just so tired of starting and failing at diets. Thanks for reading if you made it this far
