Rebster - there's a Scanbran carrot cake on the SW website and that says 300g of carrot to 8 Scanbran and 2 Weetabix. Will post full recipe if anyone wants it.

  • I totally agree with everyone talking about busyness and that causing issues with slimming world. After work I find I have very little time or energy to cook so try to do as much batch cooking at the weekend as I can which helps. Slimming world works best for me with cooking from scratch. But it's sometimes hard to juggle everything.

    Evening :)

Thanks for the chart Shala and well done to both SOTWs. :T Sorry I'm a bit late!

Great to hear about your friends daughter Hurdygurdy. It's amazing what can be done nowadays, but she will obviously have a long journey ahead of her so your friend will be glad of your support.

Well done June for giving up chocolate. In my experience you'll find that the longer you go without it, the less you want it. It's a lot easier for me when I'm here in Spain, as my chocolate of choice (Galaxy) isn't available here. Other brands are available, like Cadburys, but it's made in Spain and doesn't taste the same.

Beanie - hope you're ok, sending hugs your way.

Interesting to read about the new Arla milk, I use 1% milk in England as skimmed always seems very thin and watery, but it's great here, we use skimmed all the time and even DH likes it.

Anyway I'm being distracted by Gogglebox, so I'll say goodnight!

Just a quick post this morning with my menu plan. It's another EE day:

    B - beans on toast
L - parsnip, orange & thyme soup (new recipe - hope it's OK!)
D - still to be decided but possibly burger (made with 5% mince); chips, onions & mushrooms

    HEA - milk as usual

No syns planned but have a few available if needed.

  • Morning everyone

Weighed in this morning and pleased to see a 1.5lb loss after last week's gain so that's put me in a good mood. I had hoped for a little more but star week is looming so I'm happy with the loss. Well done the losers this week :T

I quite like the sound of that carrot cake but have never tried scan bran before. Have seen it in H&B a few times but never really fancied it. I feel like I eat the same HEBs all the time though so I may give it a go.

    Food today:

B - frosted shreddies with milk, banana & nectarine
    L - subway salad bowl

Have not planned tea yet, always have a treat meal on weigh day so will see what we fancy nearer the time

I'm a busy bunny today cleaning and tidying the pigsty we live in as we have workmen in either tomorrow or Friday fitting us new windows. Not sure why I'm cleaning as I'm sure they'll leave a right mess but it might burn me some extra calories :D

Have a lovely sunshiney day everyone
  • Hi all. New here! Day 3 on SW Online.

Main question so far is about portion size. The eat as much as you like (of the right stuff) thing seems too good to be true and is ringing alarm bells with me because it's so at odds with traditional calorie based diets. My bowl of porridge this morning was of the 35g weight and made with water (with a splash of semi skimmed) but once I'd padded it out with frozen berries and a grated apple it just seemed enormous. Tonight is home made veg & bean chilli (made the SW way of course) with a jacket spud the size of a small melon. No butter or cheese obviously but still. It won't be small! Lunch will probably be fruit and some rice with soy sauce or something.

I've stopped drinking for now - was averaging most of a bottle, most days

Can you clever people reassure me that this sounds ok and that I will lose weight eating like this, or is it really too good to be true? Obviously I understand that eating less will result in faster weight loss but I'm not looking for the fastest results, just slow & steady will do me, in exchange for not feeling hungry all the time.

    Thanks all! X

That's great lush and you too candy!!:T

Why don't you just declutter rather than clean candy then when the windows are in cleaning will be so much easier? I've done quite a lot of 'tidying up' lately based on Marie Kondo and it's so much easier to keep things clean with less 'stuff' hanging around:).

That soup sounds quite exotic denise, hope it goes down well.

Carvery last night was OK but a disappointing selection of veg. Syns were in gravy and a few (4?) bits of roast potatoes. Wine syns then added to it.:o Tonight will be a bit more upmarket (Loch Fyne Fish restaurant) but equally synful. Definitely having an on plan day tomorrow.:)

I've had a SW breakfast (boiled eggs) and will do the same for lunch (soup or JP) so keeping on track as best I can.

Beautiful day here, hope sun is shining on you all.:A

The key is definitely in 'the right stuff' morello.

If you're doing EE (although today's menu sounds veggie so could be Green) then you'll lose provided you have at least a third of Speed fruit and veg across the day. Your breakfast and lunch sound fine. Your dinner will be OK provided you have enough veg in the chilli to balance the melon sized JP. Mine would have tomatoes, onion, carrots, mushrooms and maybe some courgettes added in alongside the beans.

SW have recognised that losses can be faster if you cut out/keep the carbs low in the EESP plan but that's not intended for regular use and is probably not sustainable long term.

I didn't notice any syns in your menu. They're built into the plan so do try to have some unless you're saving them up for the weekend or something.

Morello - That's a really common newbie concern, particularly coming from calorie counting diets in the past. The unlimited stuff is (for the most part) really low calorie, so you can bulk out say an enormous lunch with salady bits and still be eating less calories than you were with a typical supermarket sandwich. But the key is to eat until you're satisfied, rather than absolutely stuffed. If you find you're not getting results, you can cut back on portion sizes - particularly of carbs, as they're more calorie dense - but trust it to begin with! Your body will self-regulate the portion size you actually need if you listen to it.

Lois - I caved yesterday and had two pieces of chocolate, 1 syn each. But that's still a lot less than I've been having recently! And I actually felt sick almost immediately, so my body is definitely telling me to quit. Just got to listen one of these days. :p

    Today...
Breakfast - Scrambled eggs on toast with mushrooms, coffee (half A/B1)
Lunch - Leftover bolognese with cheesy garlic bread (other half A/B1)
    Dinner - Gammon and veggies
    Pudding - Baked oats (B2)
    Syns - TBC :D
