Hi there! I'm new to MSE and forums in general. Could I possibly join your group please? I toyed with SW in November last year and once I understood the mechanics I worked out that's it's actually pretty doable. I came off the diet in Dec and I'm now officially back in it with gusto! This is a great time of year to give dieting a go. I've joined a gym which focuses on air resistance weights which is one of the best ways to lose weight apparently. Teaming the exercise with SW and Dry January (what was I thinking?!?) I have high hopes for January :) I'd like to lose -10 in Jan and Feb. Fingers crossed everyone!!!!

The normal Tesco brand one with the daisies on the pack is 1 syn per 100g. But bizarrely, the value brand one is free even though the nutritional info is pretty much identical!

If you prefer natural yogurt to mullers, both of the 0% versions (normal and greek style) are free as well.

Thanks June, adds to shopping list!
  • Pity we couldn't claim Body Magic shineys for keeping up with all these posts :rotfl:

Lovely to see we have more new people joining us today - welcome to you all :hello: Good luck to you all.

Well done to everyone reporting in with losses this week. :T:T:T

Hope Day 2 is going well for you lantanna xx

Never stopped raining here all day today. I know we are not as bad as some poor people but when oh when is it going to stop.

    Stay safe (and dry) everyone.

  • Also keeping fingers crossed that This Darn Rain (as I am coming to think of it) will stop soon. It's proving so relentless - and I keep hoping to get out and about to get in some walks - and not just diving from A to B.

I keep thinking "If I can keep hard at it until the end of next month then hopefully I will have lost a stone and not look too bad and can maybe just do a combination of genuine healthy eating and no booze except on social occasions and that will be sufficient to lose the remaining stone". So - yep aiming for a stone by the end of next month. Though I know I cant be too harsh on myself for that - as I'm possibly/probably going to have to go back visiting my home area at some point soon (courtesy of the state of health of one of my parents) and cant see me being able to keep on the "straight and narrow" if/when I go back visiting.

Negative for the day - a woman of errrr....rather more generous proportions looked at me today and told me I don't need to lose weight. My reply was to tell her exactly how much I weigh and what I should weigh and the difference between the two. I then came back and looked up the height/weight tables to reinforce in my mind that...yep...I definitely AM overweight (even if people who've got used to seeing bigger people than I used to see back in the 1970s tell me I'm not).

Positive for the day = think I might have found a suitable drink to replace that glass (or two) of wine in hand. Tried out the suggestion of a (mean) 2 teaspoons of a suitable vinegar in a glass of tonic water. Results of that experiment so far@
    - Not that keen on cider vinegar with tonic water.
    - white wine vinegar with tonic water = definite possibility
    - balsamic vinegar with tonic water = possible at a push

As far as I can see - there shouldn't be any Syns in that:)

Hmm - can't see the deliciousness of replacing wine with vinegar :(

I find when I'm cutting back, drinking no calorie flavoured fizzy water out of a wine glass works - sometimes its just using a wine glass that does the trick ;) Tesco have some lovely flavours - the apple and elderflower is very nice.

If I'm just having toast I'll have a bit of spread or butter on it but if I'm having something on it like beans, scrambled eggs, mushrooms etc then I leave the toast dry as the topping moistens it enough. Certainly couldn't eat dry toast on its' own, ugh!

    Thanks Denise,

Yes I think I will leave the spread if I'm having it with my cooked breakfast now, as I always have either beans or tinned chopped tomatoes. It's very rare that I have just a piece of toast nowadays, but definitely couldn't eat it dry either!

Has anyone tried the Asda low fat soft cheeses, they do all different flavours, we are on onion & chive at the moment, 2 syns for 25g, which is a decent sized dollop. Lovely on jacket spuds! ;)

I think you've misheard that - 2 tsp of balsamic vinegar in diet lemonade tastes a bit like pimms, better if you put in some chopped fruit and mint leaves! Also means you're getting some Speed foods in you drink:rotfl:.

The other one to try is 2 tsp of raspberry vinegar in diet lemonade is supposed to taste like gin & tonic - no idea about that one as haven't tried it but might be worth a try if you like G&T.

Ooh I think I'd rather just have water than some of these concoctions!

    I've been very good today:
    B - Mullerlight, banana, apple
D - Quinoa and roast veg
T - Chicken and veg soup (potatoes, leeks, onion, courgette, carrot and baby corn)
    HEA - Milk in coffees
    HEB - Bread with soup
Syns - 3 for sugar in coffees, 2 for hot chocolate later.

    Tomorrow:
    B - Mullerlight and fruit
D - Bolognese with loads of veg in (carbs for running in the evening)
T - Spag loops on toast with cheese on top (fave post-run treat)

Will tot it all up tomorrow.

Lovely seeing so many people on here making positive changes!

Today has been pretty good food-wise.

B: Banana (I have it at 10.30 when I start to feel peckish)
L: Layered salad with lettuce, spinach, grated carrot, pasta, ham, egg and cucumber and a smidge of salad cream (+2 syns). Dessert grapes in 0% fat natural yog.
D: HM carrot and parsnip soup with a touch of cumin and a few chilli flakes with a ham sandwich (2 slices of tesco w/meal bread HEB) (+3 syns for a smear of butter). Dessert: vanilla muller light with raspberries and a satsuma.

Drinks have been peppermint tea and coffee with milk (HEA).

I'm stuffed and don't need to eat any more today. Not bad for 5 syns. Tell you what though, with all this fruit and veg I'm having I'm getting some serious wind!!! *parp* (sniggers! )

If it's the one in the big tub I think it's 5 syns for the whole 500g - someone may correct me though! Had it yesterday so looked it up then x

Thank you Shrimpy. I had thought it was free although use the tub for 2 overnight oats so only 2.5 syns per serving I suppose. I might look at 0% Denise suggested or Muller Light.
