muso, can you do PAYG for swimming? My local gym is about the same monthly price but swimming is something like £3 a session, or they have a swim only membership that is much cheaper than full access. For weight sessions, buy a set of cheap dumbbells from Arg*s or the like and check out youtube for easy exercises you can do at home.
HG, agree about the portion sizes of SW recipes. I get that it's so people don't feel deprived, but they are ridiculously large. I made one of their meatballs recipes last night, did a third of the recipe and still got 12 good sized balls out of it. The full recipe claims to only make 24, no way!
Today is back on SP after a bit of a disaster EE day yesterday. First time I've gone over syns, excluding off plan days like Christmas. Have decided EE just doesn't work for me, I feel like I want to snack all day. Obviously a mental thing, as there was only one item (the leftover chicken) I was eating yesterday that wasn't SP-friendly but oh well...
Breakfast - Weetabix, fruit and coffee (A/B1)
Lunch - Chicken salad
Dinner - Curry and spinach
Pudding - B2 and syns
Trying to work out whether to add in the second A as recommended for long term SP. Even on my EE days, I rarely have any other dairy based products. But not sure I would actually use them, don't often want any more milk or cheese than I'm allowed in a single choice. :think:0 -
Musogirl~~can you do it on a monthly rolling contract? If not I wouldn't.
They don't do a rolling contract as such although there's no set contract period. would mean that I would have to pay the joining fee for each period I wanted to do!:
I know sometimes money can be tight but I do believe treating yourself is important. So based on that, musogirl, I'd go for the gym membership and resolve to go as often as you can. I'd definitely opt for the nicest one as it'll make you feel better about going there. Going in the evening wouldn't mean abandoning DH completely, you could go for an hour or so and still have plenty of evening left. Good idea from beanie to ask about rolling membership.
I am leaning towards doing it if DH is on board. Our evenings always seem short enough though. DH gets back from work about 6, then we have dinner, straight onto kids baths and by the time they're in bed its 7.30. Then we tend to be in bed by 10.30 due to baby being an early riser!muso, can you do PAYG for swimming? The only thing they do as payg is classes which are £10 a session. The only membership options they offer are on and off peak so it really is an all or nothing decision if I want to use the close and nice place!0 -
I must be a piggy because i made the chicken and spinach lasagne out the magazine last night and a quarter of it was the right portion for me
I don't ever remember making something and thinking it was too big
:rotfl: maybe thats why i don't lose much!
Can you have the extra A choice if you fancy it and then not be too bothered if you dont June? I'm trying to think of other foods that have calcium in them to make sure you're getting enough - haven't some veg got it in?
Just a quick post with my menu EE
B - yogurt, strawberries, granola (3)
L - pizza boat (4) salad, red slaw
T - HB turkey and ham tangle pie (hea for cheese, 4 for filo), broccoli, carrots and a few sweet potato wedges
S - crisps (5) appleMortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Shala, that's sort of what I do now but I'm only doing it maybe a once a month. Some days I don't even manage to have my full single A choice. I'm really not a dairy fan! Do have some non-dairy sources pretty regularly (broccoli, oranges, etc) but might have to dig the calcium supplements out of the cupboard.
I do have fairly small portions compared to the average I see on Instagram and such. I'm always amazed people can eat so much to be honest. But I don't think they're piggies, I get full really quickly! Still haven't had lunch as I had breakfast a bit late and I'm just not hungry yet.0 -
Thanks for the chart Shala.
Funny EE makes you want to graze June, SP makes me feel like I want to graze.
I grazed all last night on EE - Well over syns!
Need to get back to some gym classes, but feel ashamed at being 2 stone heavier than when I was last there.
Anyway not going to class tonight as I'm really not in good form and just want to go to the gym as didn't go last night. Feeling cross with myself at the grazing last night - think tuc crackers etc.
So Shala can you just leave me blank this week. Now working for a loss next tues. My scales tell me sts anyway.
Friday night is still takeaway night though so I've something to look forward too.
Today commences my 40 days off choc.
Just keep going BEG and see how things pan out and how you feel about where you are in a while.0 -

I made the Creamy Bacon and Mushroom Spaghetti Carbonara from Vicki-Kitchen-Blogspot tonight.
I thought it was lovely, but my son managed two mouthfuls before giving up.
However - the recipe was meant to be for four people. It would have fed four TRIBES!!! My 2nd son just had a plateful of the spaghetti once it was cooked (which he had with veggie meatballs and sauce) and then the 1st son and I had huge platefuls each and there is STILL half a potful left.
Does anyone else find that SW recipes make FAR too much? I know it's great that you can eat to your appetite, but if we really did eat it all, we would burst out of our skins! I must remember to just do half quantities - not everything will freeze successfully and it ends up getting binned.
What carbonara did you make, ITR - and would you recommend it.
Hi Hurdy-Gurdy,
I made it last night following the Vicki recipe- really liked it (although I only had 3/4 of a tub of Quark), it was still nice and creamy though.
The way I used to make it was to fry the bacon and mushrooms and garlic in frylight and set to the side. Then cook the spaghetti drain and add to the wok with bacon and mushrooms and finally add the mixture of parmesan and 2 eggs and dried parsley all mixed up with a tablespoon of oil:eek:) stir through and serve!
But as the Quark version is free - will go for that in future!

Weight loss goal - lose 14 lbs by May 18th 2016 - so far 3 lbs lost0 -
Change of plan for lunch. DH spotted some nice looking mussels so we had those, which of course meant syns for wine! Still, we both thoroughly enjoyed them (the mussels & the wine, LOL!)

Feeling
today. I shared a tip with group a while back about the frylight lids holding 35gms of oats and apparently it's wrong. lots of grumbles on the Fb groups about it today and I feel guilty. it measured right me the handful of times I checked it. Hey ho.
B: pear and banana (running late)
Sn: skinny latte (a) rocky road (?!)
L: Sw burger (b) for bun, wedges and a huge saladchicken stirfry noodles with egg fried rice

I've seen that loads of times on instagram etc and heard people saying it, so it hasn't just been you. Everybody is responsible for their own weightloss etc and could have easily checked it out for themselves so don't feel bad about it at all. I'm sure it can't be too far off? I know a woman has lost over 9 stone on instagram - sitting at a size 8 and uses the lid every time she has oats. So please don't feel bad.0 -

Even my consultant has said that. I've not actually tried it - it's just as easy to grab by scales as a Frylight lid!
