  • Hi everyone

Had a diabolical week of eating, falling back into all bad habits, too much wheat, too much sugar, too much caffeine and felt like poo all week. Braved the scales this morning and I've put on 5lbs, but I'm just relieved it wasn't more. Well and truly fed up of being unhealthy now, so back on the wagon and hoping to get back into the swing of things.

Made a batch of bean chilli and a sw quiche last night, which will do us a few days. OH wasn't keen on the quiche (he got the munchies when he got in drunk last night ) so there's more for me, it is a bit grim (the veg is a bit slimy) but it's edible so meh.

I had a lot of mochas last week, fancied a hot drink mid morning today and went for a lemon and ginger tea instead, I'm thinking I might get a stash of yogi choco teas for my desk to help out a bit with the coffee cravings.

OH has been working from home for 3 months, and he started a new job back in an office last week. He came home shattered and said he couldn't understand how I managed to cook after work last month. I've lost my washing up-er because he used to do the dishes in his lunch breaks so now if I make a mess cooking it needs cleaned up the same night or the kitchen will still be a state the next night. We might end up doing a lot of jacket potatoes and beans and omelettes, we'll see how it goes.

Going up to see my parents in a couple of weeks, I'd love to be half a stone down by then....
  • maman - I'm planning to throw in a few eesp meals where I can bit I do struggle without carbs! I take the mini pill and changed brands 2 weeks ago. I'm wondering if this could also be having an effect. I am trying to have a perfect week this week so I can make a really clear assessment of the issue!

    Menu:

    B - 2 x ryvita(half heb), laughing cow (hea), clementine
    S - 1 x hifu (half heb)
    L Subway chicken salad (2)
    S - kitkat (5.5), activia, banana
D - Curry fried rice, greek yoghurt, raspberries

    7.5 syns to play with

That's a good idea. It might well be the pills that have caused the problem.

For traditional meals then I find swede and carrot mash is a good substitute for potatoes or even carrots cut the size of new potatoes seem to help fool me that I'm having carbs.

Omelettes are good too. I put loads of veg in them and then have beetroot and perhaps ham on the plate as well.

I think it's the psychology of cutting into something substantial (like beetroot or a carrot) helps me.

Spiralised veg is another option but I've not tried that myself yet.

Just popping my head in to say I weighed in this morning and have lost 2lbs this week, thanks Shala.

Really struggling to be "good" at the moment, finding every day an uphill battle.

I think just about all my meals are from twochubbycubs - current hot favourite in our house is Sausages Stroganott. My other "go to" recipe blog is vicki-kitchen.blogspot.co.uk. I made her Spicy Cajun Rice and Beans (the recipe made LOADS!) for my vegetarian son yesterday, and told him he could take some each day to work for lunches. Hmmm - that's not going to last long, because mum is going to be having some of that. I currently have her Thick Vegetable and Lentil Soup bubbling away on the hob, and it's smelling wonderful.

That website is making me VERY hungry - going to give the SW Carbonara a go tonight, as I have some Quark to use up!
