Daughter born 26/03/14
Son born 13/02/210 -
Well over on syns at the weekend and need to rein it back in from now until WI on Thursday.
B - porridge made with water, a splash of milk, mixed frozen fruit
L - carrot & lentil soup
D - HM sweet and sour pork (using LO pork from yesterday's roast) with rice
HEA - 1% milk
HEB - porridge
No idea about syns at the moment but have got a few options in the cupboards.

Today is still EE, normally would be back on SP but I have leftover fakeaway chicken (which was delicious) so I'm going to be good and call it an EE day...
Breakfast - Omelette and tea
Lunch - Leftover chicken and salad
Dinner - Spag bol and cheesy garlic bread (A/B)
Will figure out syns later. It's almost always chocolate though, who am I kidding. :rotfl:HurdyGurdy wrote: »The ASDA veg boxes - what is different about these from the Tesco Value range or the Sainsbury Basics range? Apart from the fact that ASDA don't let you choose which veg you have in them? I don't understand all the furore. And I am old enough to remember when "wonky veg" were just called "veg". That's how they came out of the ground and nobody had a hissy fit that they weren't evenly sized, or uniformly coloured, or unblemished. They cooked and tasted exactly the same. Probably better, actually.
You took the words right out of my mouth. I've been buying basics/value veg for years. I will go on about basics strawberries in particular to anyone who'll listen. In summer they're often the posh varieties which would normally bought up by M&S and sold in their premium range! Mmm, can't wait for summer...
Anyway I'm not a fruit/veg box fan, wonky or not. Mainly because it's usually half potatoes and we use 1 or maybe 2 per week so I don't exactly need pounds worth. I do like that they're doing it though, purely to highlight awareness that we don't need (for example) apples that are between 55-65mm to be considered edible.0 -
DD is driving me to weigh in on Wednesday evening which is only five days from last weigh in so not expecting a loss.
I made chicken supreme yesterday with loads of veg for a family lunch and had some left over so I dry fried lots of fresh mushrooms, added some stock and the remainder of the dish with instant plain rice which made two good size portions for me and middle dd and was free.
Breakfast today was two weetabix with banana and milk. Lunch probably an omelette or cold ham with tomatoes and dinner maybe SW meatballs with tomatoes, onions, peppers and pasta.
Hopefully if I move house in the next fortnight all the rushing around involved will help."This site is addictive!"

Here in Spain there's plenty of wonky veg on offer in the shops and markets and they're great! There is so much produce grown here and a lot of it is for the UK who get the pick of the crop, perfect shapes, correct sizes etc, while the Spanish make do with what's left over.
A good example is peppers - UK SMs sell them packaged in 3s like traffic lights, they're really small, with little flavour and expensive. Here, peppers are huge, all odd shapes and sizes, with imperfections, but cheap and full of flavour. Peppers are so versatile too, I use them in lots of everyday cooked meals and they're great raw in salads or as a snack, so we get through quite a few.

Green with envy at you being in Bali cheese. I went there one February and it was just so brilliant to be enjoying sunshine away from the British winter.
Glad to hear that BF is quite philosophical about the decision lush. Hope him being around more doesn't mean bad choices though?;)
You're so right that you must have a life at the same time as SW lantanna. I know it's only worked for me because I save syns for the weekend and then feel smug all the week because I'm eating super healthy!!:)
I'm cynical about the Asda veg boxes. I can see that it's a great idea to make sure 'rejected' veg gets eaten but how much of a saving there'll be to the customer remains to be seen. I'll stick to my Aldi veg which I'm quite happy with most of the time.
I like to keep a range of 'Mediterranean' veg in the fridge. At the moment there's tomatoes (OK fruit:p), mushrooms, celery, mange tout, peppers, courgette, spring onions and asparagus. Last week I had a couple of lovely veggie omelettes for lunches just from using bits from the fridge.
Portioned up 5 meals of chilli this morning so OK for HM ready meals for a while (tend to have one a week).
Today's EE plan:
B: NAS Grapefruit, 2 fried eggs, HEB toast
L: ham, fried LO veg and pickleschicken stir fry with rice
Syns: squirt of HP sauce, tbsp. of honey in stir fry0 -
Hiya slimmers
A bit of a synful weekend here thanks to the MIL giving us leftovers of their Sunday lunch and forcing me to drink wine when we visitedBut it was yummy so I don't care, if left to my own devices I probably would have eaten rubbish, at least there was plenty of speed in there
Today's food:
B - overnight oats with banana (no speedy fruit in my fruit bowl til tonight)
L - chicken tikka subway salad
T - mayflower chicken curry, egg fried rice and a few prawn crackers
Will work out syns later but I think that takes me to roughly 15
I'm hoping to be able to do a bit of a workout tonight, we bought a new(ish) rowing machine off one of OH's workmates just after christmas and neither of us have been well enough to go on it. I'm feeling hopeful for tonight though. Need to get a loss this week to motivate me as I'm feeling rubbish after last week's gain
Have a fab Monday everyone

For Lent this year, I will give up smoking. I have done this successfully every year of my life, and maintained it for the rest of the year, so I see no reason to think I will fail this time round
Love this :rotfl: is this like how i boycott Starbucks for not paying tax but i don't drink coffee anyway!?I have the same problem with the Not Nigella Facebook page - she makes the most amazing puddings, all lowish in syns but still more than I can spare. She goes to the max with her syn allowance every day, but it works, she's lost loads of weight.
Love Not Nigella, but she's giving up facebook for lenti like to see the batch cooking she does too as it gives me inspiration.
Not the best of weekends foodwise for me. Seemed to eat my feelings and had my hand in the naughty jar all weekend..........
Hope it settles down a bit for you, how's your mom?
I think i was a bit naive on the vegetables debate, i didn't realise supermarkets were so specific in their requirements for veg. Like June, I usually buy the cheapy stuff anyway so i guess i was buying the not so perfect veg.
Morrisons are doing bags of wonky veg rather than a veg box so it may be better for some people who want to pick the veg rather than have certain ones picked for them in a box IYSWIM.
Menu for today EE
B - yogurt, banana, granola (3)
L - pork bap (heb) red slaw  and salad
T - chicken and spinach lasagne, salad, red slaw
S - popcorn (3.5) apple, milk (hea)
Have a good Monday all xxxMortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
There was a programme on not so long ago about the wonky veg in the UK and how much of it got wasted by hugh henry whittingstall it really opened my eyes.
It was a total disgrace how much was rejected and wasted. Tonnes and tonnes. There was a farm focused that ended up packing up shop because they were losing too much.
Sainsburys and Morrisions seemed to be the biggest culprits in terms of requiring perfect specifications.
Mind you I did buy some basic mushrooms in Sainsburys last week that had some most odd looking little boys in it so maybe they have relaxed it or are embracing it a bit.
I doubt we will get the wonky veg boxes here as we are always the last to get anything lol. I would buy one just to see and I think it would def save me money and probably force me to get creative.
I hate the traffic light pepers, at 99p it is expensive and I could use 3 packs of those I week if I wanted too.
I got about 10 slings reduced to 10p each once in Asda and was delighted. Nothing wrong with them of course. Chopped up loads for the freezer.
Every week I buy peppers, lettuce, mushrooms, spring onions, tomatoes, cucumbers - sometimes more than once......
I rarely buy root veg - tending to buy the pre cut packs when on whoopsie. Same goes for broccoli, cauli, green beans, celery and the like - only on whoopsie.
I don't eat a lot of potatoes so once in a while does me with them and I tend to buy the packs of 4 baking ones.
Its fresh stuff I find the most expensive and hard to keep a good stock of and there is only me!
Shala the mother is currently doing ok, she has def not had a stroke but now needs referring to another specialist to determine what is wrong, a neurological problem they now think. The father drama still rattles on..........Not really sure what I should do with him.
The man is still there, still being friendly, attentive and nice. I'm letting him go at his own speed and just seeing what happens. He his a welcome distraction though! :rotfl: He is a good boy so it would be nice if that develops.
Have decided I'm getting a Chinese, a film and a few drinks on Friday night. My Valentines gift to myself! So I will aim to be extra good until then. :rotfl: Not going to go too mad though and will make my own chips.0
