OOOO thank you for the nosey welcome lol and yes please to the challenge can I go down for 14lb please, I am dead on 7st off at the moment with 10st left to go but have rejoined afresh week before Xmas so now trying to lose what I gained (6.5lb) but slowly does it for me this year I put to much pressure on myself and then feel bad if I fail so I am aiming for losses this year not the stars..
Thanks for the lovely welcome all and have a good day x

Well done on your losses queen and Lois (whoops I thought I'd quoted you Lois) :T:T:T

Morning,
Happy New Year!
I'm back and I ate Xmas!
Lovely to see you back lantanna. You can do this - we can do this. 2016 is going to be the year that we get to target (she says keeping her fingers cross behind her back)Hello!
I just signed up for Slimming World Online this morning and I'd love to join this group please :-)
My target for the challenge is 14lbs please shala_moo
Looking forward to getting to know everyone and to dropping this weight!!
Welcome aboard Betty :wave:CommitedToChange wrote: »Good Morning and Happy first Monday back!
Starting off nicely with a loss of 1.6lbs - though I suspect that most of that is water weight, it's still a nice loss. I'm not sure if that counts or if since the actual challenge starts from today my first weight in would be next Monday?
Starting on SW properly today which should be interesting - though my idea of properly is not quite SW as I'm not counting the syns in my protein powder if I have it in my breakfast shake, nor am I counting the syns in the berries that get blended in - it's only 50g and I'd happily eat those without thinking.
Plan for today:
B: Protein shake - 40g protein powder, 50g spinach, 50g berries, 120ml ss milk (1/2 HEA) fibre powder.
L: Slimming world ready meal - beef stew and root veg mash, pineapple. oreo (2.5 syns)ham with couscous salad (lots of tomato, cucumber, red onion and peppers with some lemon juice), melon slices.
S: cucumber, pepper and carrot sticks with some hummus (4 syns), Muller light yogurt (if hungry)
Need to figure out how to use up my other HEA and HEB. I'll probably have a cheeky Ferrero Rocher when I get home as I got a large box of them for Christmas. (3 syns)
This weeks a little flaky as I only got to do a quick shop on New years eve and I've been working since Saturday. I'm going to meal plan on Thursday and shop on Friday for the week ahead as I'm off the next four Fridays, so that should provide some constancy.
Well done on managing a loss this week CtoC :T

Great loss Lois
lantana--I am exactly where you are too.Not a nice place to be but I am finding it very difficult to get back on track & look & feel dire which then becomes a vicious circle
It is not a nice place to be at all!
The warning bells are going off with me right now that If I don't start to pull it back now majorily after the next big holiday or celebration I could be up another stone and will have even less motivation to get back to target as it will seem like too much hard work. I'm getting scarily far away from where I was.
I'm going to get some veg tonight and cut up some snacking on and make up a free dip. I've got into a real bad habit of picking at things when I'm watching tv....................
Its chocolate tbh that has really become my problem. That and having double heb and hea just because I feel like it.
Anyway the wine is over now until Easter - spirits only for me :rotfl:. Personally wine balloons me, always has done. I'd love to be able to have it and syn it but it doesn't work for me. I really need to kill this chocolate nonsense.
I'm just taking one day at a time at the minute and will see how I get on.
I've nearly one day over me and I just hope the gain tomorrow night again doesn't throw me off my stride.0 -
BEG, we will get to target in 2016 and so will Beanie0

I'm going to pledge losing 3 stone in 2016, so that's 42lbs for me. My weigh in day is Monday and I was 14 stone 2lbs this morning.
I'm also doing Dry January, which should help
Good luck everyone!
** Just noticed I need to pledge for 8 weeks - I'll go for 10lbs - do we get a number assigned to us for the challenge?**

Well done on the losses so far :T and hiya to the newcomers :hello:
I'm still hugely loaded with cold which I think has become a chest infection  and my appetite appears to have gone AWOL. I'm trying to stick to plan as much as I'm able to, but with all the cough sweets and medicines I'm taking to try and shift these germs it's not easy (I don't know if you're supposed to syn things like strepsils and cough syrup but I'm not counting them, it's not like it's a treat that I'm enjoying) I've had heinz soup for meals the past 2 days because it's all I could manage to eat but the syns on those things are diabolical. Wish I'd checked syns allowed on fb before I'd slurped my way through 11.5 syns for the tomato
The recipe for that braised steak looks amazing, I've bookmarked that & definitely going to give it a go when my appetite returns properly
Having an afternoon on the sofa now with the darts and some carrot sticks to get my speedy quota up
Have a good day everyone xx
Hope you are feeling better soon Candyapple. Seems as though it has been hanging around a while for you now. Sometimes sugar free cough stuff and throat stuff is available so might have fewer syns. Not good having to use syns allowance for that sort of stuff but if it does the trick then it is worth it.Hi Everyone, can I join in here please? I've done weight watchers before, but not slimming world, so I'm going to join a local meeting tonight and get the books. After that I'm not sure if I will keep going to meetings or just track myself. Either way I'll be here looking for recipes and tips. Think I'll have 4-5 stone to lose which is a bit depressing.
Good luck to everyone on your efforts to stay on plan.
P.s. Do you think tonight's meeting will be really busy as the 1st in January? I'm not sure what to expect, but thought a lot might miss the 1st one so next week could be just as bad.
Welcome aboard New Me. I think we are expecting our class to be busy tonight going by last year.

Hello everyone. I am creeping back in very disappointed with myself. I joined you back towards the end of last year to try to keep myself focused and then went completely off the rails with a holiday in November and then completely off plan at for the whole of December. I’ve just been binge eating to a massive level. Not weighed myself yet but will do so tomorrow morning to see what the damage is. I think I am going to start afresh with a clean slate for January as I think seeing a large gain would just send me spiralling and comfort eating again. Funny how the mind works but I think a clean slate and start from now again would work better. So I will join you for the challenge again but my first week I guess will be a STS as I will weigh in tomorrow to see where I am and then first weigh in result so to speak will be from w/c the 11th.
I am also thinking about no longer going to group. Our consultant is rubbish, he keeps putting on weight himself and is clearly not following the plan. While I am also putting on weight and know how hard it is and am not judging him it is hard to get motivation and advice from someone who is lacking motivation himself. So he just trots out the usual lines we’ve all heard before and I find myself just wanting to go home and thinking it’s a waste of money. I will give it a go at home for a month to six weeks and see how I get on and can always re-join later when I am more in the right frame of mind once I have sorted myself out.
Anyway sorry for the rant but writing this all down has given me the kick up the b*m I need to sort myself out so thanks for reading/listening! I would like to go for 10lbs for this challenge please Shala. I think its realistic without being too lofty a goal and hopefully this time I can stick to it and not just keep getting heavier!
Hope everyone is well and enjoyed their festive break. I will try to login more and stop just lurking now I am trying to get back on track. Well done everyone for refocusing. I look forward to reading all your posts.
You are back on board with us Mavvers and that is the main thing. Get weighed tomorrow and get a new starting point and work from there. Such a shame about your Consultant. Good luck.
Sorry if I have missed anyone but I will leave you all in peace now as I am off to get ready for class and the last minute pee :rotfl::rotfl: Well we all know that every little helps don't they say.
Will report back later with my weigh result.

Great to see more new members coming through the door!!:Dshrimpy_80 wrote: »Maman thank you for posting that braised steak recipe, I have some in the freezer that I couldn't decide what to do with and have everything else in for it, so that is an MSE one for next weeks' meal plan! I am going it alone this time, but I used to go to group many years ago. I do tend to google everything or use Syns Allowed on FB rather than use my (very old) book, aware there is some room for error but I tend to try to keep to around 10 syns a day to allow for any slippage (note the word try in that sentence
)
Today's menu (either red or SP with a tweak depending how you look at it I think?)
B: Overnight oats with low fat natural yoghurt (2) and frozen summer fruits
L: HM tomato, spinach & lentil soup (surprisingly yummy), chicken
T: SW BBQ chicken already in slow cooker - probably with cabbage and broccoli
Snacks: apple and maybe Ski mousse at 4 syns, HEA is milk in tea, not sure on other HEX yet.
Hopefully that looks somewhat ok
The menu looks fine to me shrimpy. I forgot to say that I always add mushrooms to the HB steak for extra Speed.;)It's chocolate tbh that has really become my problem. That and having double heb and hea just because I feel like it.
Strangely enough I'm leaning that way too. I used to snack on cheese & crackers or crisps with my wine before SW but since I've cut back on the wine I look for a bit of chocolate with my mug of tea even though I've never really had a sweet tooth. A couple of squares of 70% is one thing but the other night I was guzzling on the Celebrations. It has to stop!
Today's EE plan:
B: NAS Grapefruit, 2 fried eggs, HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks
L: cold lamb with fried veg and beetrootSW chilli with rice
Syns: squirt of HP sauce and hoping to stop at that.
Out for a carvery tomorrow and my usual fight with conscience as spoon hovers over the roasties;). I'm still thinking about whether to WI on Thursday too denise, may leave it another week.0 -
I've not quite worked out how to quote on this yet but thanks everyone for the welcome back. Thanks BEG for your comments on people with a lot to lose, that gives me hope that I can do it as I suspect I have about 8 more stone to lose (I lost 2 stone already last year, it was 3!). I have just got to keep going while knowing it is possible.
Thanks for everyone's comments on my consultant. I normally used to get a lot of support and ideas from other members too but since we had this particular consultant people have stopped staying and while the number of members is relatively consistent people just weight and go. I might see how it goes in the New Year going it alone and then go back and see if things have changed with new members. Hopefully I can get support and ideas from here instead.
Sorry you are struggling Lantana, I think taking it one day at a time is a good idea. That is what my aim is for now too.0 -

I just couldn't resist peeping Abbe :rotfl: I found the same too with clothe sizes, especially at the beginning. Do you think it has something to do with the type of clothing/style. I used to convince myself that it was fitting me better when the scales started to come down. I think it is a really bad thing to get too used to stretchy lycra things - should take my own advice here btw. I have a new pair of smart trousers with a proper waistband (not a bit of elastic in sight). They are a really good fit but I will know immediately as soon as I start to put on (says me sitting in my lycra leggings waiting to go to wi :rotfl:). Most of my clothes were a size 26 and now 14s are appearing - mainly struggle with Asda . I saw it as a huge achievement to be able to buy Primani stuff :rotfl: Sorry for rambling I will shut up for a bit now.
b_e_g
That's exactly what it is - leggings and dresses that have stretched as I've stretched
It's just after Christmas, if there's any time of year that Lycra is allowed, I'd say this is it!0 -
I'm still confused. Is that where you go to WI and they don't tell you what the scales say? Do they record t somewhere else rather than in your book? I find the 'clean jeans' test works a bit like that. I don't actually know my weight but I know that jeans that fit when I'm at target are a good guide.
:rotfl: at the "Clean Jeans Test"....as someone who is lurking along on this thread. I finally got my act together to go on a diet - so have dug out my old Slimming World books and been on it for a few days now and "think" I might be noticing a marginal difference to how fat I feel already.:).
I've got a pair of clean jeans to one side that I will be using to test by (rather than clambering on the scales - I think I'd horrify myself too much - as I'm assuming I'm around 10.5 stones - but fear being shocked to find its even worse than that). My "proper" weight is 8.5 stones.
So - those "clean jeans" basically swim on me and are too big at my proper weight. Right now - I can get them up over my hips - but the zip is several inches away from being able to do it up. I guess I must have lost a little bit of weight over last few weeks anyway without trying - as there was a point recently where I couldn't even get them up over my hips.:rotfl:
********
Little tip I just tried out - ie of rolling strawberries in Greek yogurt and freezing them. Havent got strawberries - but I rolled some frozen blackberries in my 0% greek yogurt I have in and froze them for a few hours and thought "That was quite nice - will try that again".
EDIT; Just read the comment from someone whose consultant keeps on putting on weight. Glad someone else finds a less-than-slim consultant offputting....and I had a New Year leaflet drop through the door from the local consultant here and I caught sight of her walking away. That put the lid on any idea of going to the classes here then LOL (as she was plump).0
