  • Ohhh is hummus a HEXB?

If so that saves me a few syns today - unlike secondtoughest I am not doing dry January, so I need to save a load of syns for my weekly pub quiz.

Hi all - and Hi Tete, nice to see you! Its so hard to get on here at work (been writing this post for over two hours!) but I'm going to try to make more of an effort this year

Maman thank you for posting that braised steak recipe, I have some in the freezer that I couldn't decide what to do with and have everything else in for it, so that is an MSE one for next weeks' meal plan! I am going it alone this time, but I used to go to group many years ago. I do tend to google everything or use Syns Allowed on FB rather than use my (very old) book, aware there is some room for error but I tend to try to keep to around 10 syns a day to allow for any slippage (note the word try in that sentence ;) )

I'm going to weigh in on Fridays as I took my starting weight from New Year's Day.

abbe I am in awe of your willpower - i know I would end up peeking!

Today's menu (either red or SP with a tweak depending how you look at it I think?)

B: Overnight oats with low fat natural yoghurt (2) and frozen summer fruits
L: HM tomato, spinach & lentil soup (surprisingly yummy), chicken
T: SW BBQ chicken already in slow cooker - probably with cabbage and broccoli
Snacks: apple and maybe Ski mousse at 4 syns, HEA is milk in tea, not sure on other HEX yet.

Hopefully that looks somewhat ok :o

Will try to post as much as I can but will always be reading.

  • Hi everyone, I hope you're all well on this drizzly Monday.

Well done on the losses so far :T and hiya to the newcomers :hello:

I'm still hugely loaded with cold which I think has become a chest infection  and my appetite appears to have gone AWOL. I'm trying to stick to plan as much as I'm able to, but with all the cough sweets and medicines I'm taking to try and shift these germs it's not easy (I don't know if you're supposed to syn things like strepsils and cough syrup but I'm not counting them, it's not like it's a treat that I'm enjoying :D) I've had heinz soup for meals the past 2 days because it's all I could manage to eat but the syns on those things are diabolical. Wish I'd checked syns allowed on fb before I'd slurped my way through 11.5 syns for the tomato

The recipe for that braised steak looks amazing, I've bookmarked that & definitely going to give it a go when my appetite returns properly

Having an afternoon on the sofa now with the darts and some carrot sticks to get my speedy quota up :p

Have a good day everyone xx

Hi Everyone, can I join in here please? I've done weight watchers before, but not slimming world, so I'm going to join a local meeting tonight and get the books. After that I'm not sure if I will keep going to meetings or just track myself. Either way I'll be here looking for recipes and tips. Think I'll have 4-5 stone to lose which is a bit depressing.

Good luck to everyone on your efforts to stay on plan.

P.s. Do you think tonight's meeting will be really busy as the 1st in January? I'm not sure what to expect, but thought a lot might miss the 1st one so next week could be just as bad.
  • Hi New Me and welcome! 1st meeting of the year is usually pretty busy at my group but it can be a good thing as you're not the only newbie joining a group of old hats!

    Menu today:

    B - 2 x hifi (heb), 2 x clementines
    L - Subway salad (2)
D - Chicken curry, spicy grilled courgettes, rice, ff greek yoghurt, meringues (3) syn free lemon curd

10 syns left to play with in the evening.

Hello everyone. I am creeping back in very disappointed with myself. I joined you back towards the end of last year to try to keep myself focused and then went completely off the rails with a holiday in November and then completely off plan at for the whole of December. I’ve just been binge eating to a massive level. Not weighed myself yet but will do so tomorrow morning to see what the damage is. I think I am going to start afresh with a clean slate for January as I think seeing a large gain would just send me spiralling and comfort eating again. Funny how the mind works but I think a clean slate and start from now again would work better. So I will join you for the challenge again but my first week I guess will be a STS as I will weigh in tomorrow to see where I am and then first weigh in result so to speak will be from w/c the 11th.

I am also thinking about no longer going to group. Our consultant is rubbish, he keeps putting on weight himself and is clearly not following the plan. While I am also putting on weight and know how hard it is and am not judging him it is hard to get motivation and advice from someone who is lacking motivation himself. So he just trots out the usual lines we’ve all heard before and I find myself just wanting to go home and thinking it’s a waste of money. I will give it a go at home for a month to six weeks and see how I get on and can always re-join later when I am more in the right frame of mind once I have sorted myself out.

Anyway sorry for the rant but writing this all down has given me the kick up the b*m I need to sort myself out so thanks for reading/listening! I would like to go for 10lbs for this challenge please Shala. I think its realistic without being too lofty a goal and hopefully this time I can stick to it and not just keep getting heavier!

Hope everyone is well and enjoyed their festive break. I will try to login more and stop just lurking now I am trying to get back on track. Well done everyone for refocusing. I look forward to reading all your posts.

Had a really busy day today - finished off drying the last load of whites washing this morning. Have washed and dried 5 loads of coloureds and darks. Last load currently in the dryer.

Pork chops separated out into 9 meal sized portions. Made a start on the beef and have 4 lots of steaks for HB braised steak and onions. Still another couple of Kgs of beef to chop up for bourgignon or stew.

Have stuck to plan so far today:

    B - mushroom omelette
L - small portion of beef stew from freezer, with jacket potato
D - LO roast lamb reheated in LO lamb gravy, boiled potatoes & veg.

    HEA - SS milk
HEB - WM Thin to mop up gravy from the stew.

Weighed myself this morning and have put on 3lb during my holiday (which also included Xmas and New Year) so am now 1lb over top end of target range. Hoping to shift this over the next few days but may leave it until next Thursday to WI at group.

    More new people, hello!

    Me today...
Breakfast - Weetabix, fruit and green tea (1/2 A, B1)
    Lunch - Quiche and salad
    Snack - Apple, ryvitas and dairylea (1/2 A, 1/2 B2)
Dinner - Still need to decide this! :rotfl: Either oriental pork or shepherd's pie. Leaning towards the pork.
Pudding - Hifi light (1/2 B2) and some syns

Mavvers, that's a shame about your consultant. I get more inspiration from the members than the consultant, but I think it would be hard to sit watching someone not on plan.

I think it used to be on the old green plan (I followed red last time, so can't remember green!) but not now as far as I know. Not sure which plan you're following since you did mention second HEs.

    Great loss Lois :)

lantana--I am exactly where you are too.Not a nice place to be but I am finding it very difficult to get back on track & look & feel dire which then becomes a vicious circle :(:(:(

I think I'd be correct to say that if you achieve your goal and lose another 8lbs, you'll have lost 10 stone! That will be really amazing, that's the weight of an average size person! I really hope you achieve it, I'll be so pleased for you. :D

Aw thanks Lois. Yep you're right but I think I will be taking a bit of a backward step after tonight's weigh in :o. However, I have had some naughtiness over the holidays and enjoyed most of it so I am not complaining too much. Also, I didn't really deserve the half pound loss last week so that might bite me on the b*m this week too . I hope that I can inspire any of our new members that are just starting off and that they are not too daunted if they have big numbers too shift. It can be done and usually without too much feeling of deprivation ;). I am sure some of our other 'bigger losers' will back me up on this. :D

They write it in my book, I just resist the urge to look! I also make sure my consultant knows so she doesn't say anything about how I've done in IMAGE therapy! I only do it for a couple of weeks normally though.

I'd love to be able to just use clothes as a guide as to how I've done but I've got so much to shift that it doesn't really work for me. Last time I did SW I lost 2stone 4lbs and was still wearing exactly the same clothes and hadn't gone down even 1 dress size!:(

I just couldn't resist peeping Abbe :rotfl: I found the same too with clothe sizes, especially at the beginning. Do you think it has something to do with the type of clothing/style. I used to convince myself that it was fitting me better when the scales started to come down. I think it is a really bad thing to get too used to stretchy lycra things - should take my own advice here btw. I have a new pair of smart trousers with a proper waistband (not a bit of elastic in sight). They are a really good fit but I will know immediately as soon as I start to put on (says me sitting in my lycra leggings waiting to go to wi :rotfl:). Most of my clothes were a size 26 and now 14s are appearing - mainly struggle with Asda . I saw it as a huge achievement to be able to buy Primani stuff :rotfl: Sorry for rambling I will shut up for a bit now. ;)

Hiya - thanks for the shiney new thread. Happy New Year

I reappeared and disappeared in a cloud of xmas excess but I am back on it now. Going to proper group on Wednesday to rather then flitting in and out of online membership.

What actually happens at group? My first visit is Wednesday.

    10lb for the challange please.

Hello tazzy our 'old' friend :D. Think you will get more out of going to class than the online SW stuff. I know a lot can vary from group to group but the format of ours is very similar to Maman's. There will be no Image Therapy this week as we are all getting the new starters talk which isn't necessarily a bad thing. :D Good luck with the challenge.
