Thanks for all the thoughts everyone!
Thinking of everyone who has hospital appointments / health worries at the moment.
Very sad over here too about Sir Terry, very much the end of an era.
Happy Monday and 1st of Feb!0 -
...Hi Tweets,
Just read your post. Thank you so much for asking about Tug, bless you. I updated last week, but this thread is so busy at the mo that I'm not surprised you missed it.
Tug (or three toes Tug as he's now known as!) is doing brilliantly, as fast as ever and nearly back to normal, however, he has to wear the cone of shame! The tumour was benign so we're very happy. Strangely, I had a good week with weight loss last week. It just illustrates to me how emotions can affect weight loss.
As I am on here now, I used all my syns bar a few on wine and gin!!! Am I on the right forum?!!0 -
I'm also inclined towards the idea of "If doing a year or so travelling and lots of exotic new foods around = then try them". I would go for the lowest calorie options available out of choice of exotic foods if on a diet - but I would certainly be trying them.
Though I do tend to work on a theory of "Once I've tried a food out - then I can re-create it more authentically later if I've had the 'real deal' ". Well it makes sense to me:rotfl:
Recently had a week back in home county checking out how one of my parents was doing (as she has been ill) - or, to be more accurate = more ill than her "normal". So - I just decided I wasn't going to be able to manage to stick to diet whilst there one way and another. So - for that week I've eaten what friend I was staying with provided on the one hand and various meals out on the other hand. But I'm back on track now....and (with that advantage) won't beat myself up for a week off track in the circumstances.
I acknowledge its much easier for me than many to "Do a Diet" normally - as I live on my own and can therefore just stick the cheese in the freezer and just stick to same few quickest foods (for as little thinking about food as possible) until its done.
Did have the pleasure of my size 14 jeans starting to "head for the ground" for being too big for me whilst I was running for a bus during that week though:D. Think those jeans should be on the "gardening clothes" pile soon - though I've not quite made it to size 12 jeans yet.
I'm a bit puzzled by the fact that I still cant do up my "too big" jeans - a pair of mans jeans with a 32" waist label on them with those size 14 jeans being that way. I'm measuring the gap between the button on those jeans and its gone from 4.5" gap to 3.5" gap - so I must be losing weight and I guess the next goalpost will be being able to do the zip up on them and keep the button shut by using a hairband as an extender.
The money set of weight scales consists of my "too big" jeans going:
- can get those jeans back up over my hips = tick for done
- can do up the zip
- can do up the button
- they are too big for me again and "swimming" on me.
Am now not grabbing a huge chunk of fat at my waist when I sit down - so I must be making progress.0 -
Morning all
Reporting in with the result of this week's weigh in with a -1lb. And reporting an NSV - several people have commented on my weight loss this week.
My favourite Eva Cassidy song is her version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow. My Dad introduced me to her music before I switched to Radio 2 and we played that at his funeral - it had everyone in tears and I couldn't listen to it for years afterwards without welling up. If there is life after death I hope Terry gets to meet Eva - wouldn't that be great.
Green tiger it's not just Scottish men who love to talk about football - we had friends round recently and DH asked the man if he followed football and the answer was no, but DH continued to talk about the day's results regardless! The poor chap wore the expression I usually wear - feigned interest.
Welcome back Rebster, glad you enjoyed your holiday. You'll soon lose that lb and a few more with your positive attitude.
Good luck with the scan abbafan and hugs to Beanie - hope you're both ok.
Well done everyone reporting losses this week, in the words of young Mr Grace, "you're all doing very well"!
Good luck to everyone for this week's weigh ins.

Hi all, forgot to post my weigh in on Friday, was +1lb which I think was a bit of a carry over from the week before
I am really struggling this time around, the odd off plan day seems to have a much bigger impact than previously. Maybe it's my age

Well I STS this week. I'm lucky really as I should have put on after a shocker of a week. No time for guilt though, I'm back on it today!
Arkers I'm so glad Tug is on the mend
Well done Abbafan and to all the "losers" - great work! And a "don't beat yourself up" to those who gained or STS, it's a new day and we get to try again.0 -

Not a great weekend; weighed this morning which was a bad idea as I was already feeling pants and its not showing movement in the right direction
Will see what Wednesday morning brings.
Today:
Breakfast: bran flakes (HeB) with milk (from HeA)
mid morning: hard boiled egg, cup of earl grey (milk from HeA)
lunch: salad (handful cooked pasta, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, pickled onion and some cooked chicken) and a Satsuma
mid afternoon: banana and Satsuma
tea: not decided yet. something very low syn or free
drinks: earl grey (milk from HeA), peppermint tea, NAS squash
exercise: going to walk in to town shortly to go to the bank, walk back then back up most of the way to town for an afternoon meeting and back again!
not feeling cracking mentally; went trying on dresses and had to go up a size to fit my backside/hips in then everything was too big everywhere else...found one dress I liked but it's out of my budget and even though dad said he'd try and help at least a bit with the cost it's in an outlet so could soon disappear

That's taking my 'clean jeans' test to a whole new level.;)
Sorry to hear you feeling a bit down lush. At least you've got today's menu sorted out and you've got plenty of time to lose more before the wedding. Onwards and upwards:).
Early main meal today so not sure about menu. So probably:
B: NAS Grapefruit, 2 boiled eggs, HEB toast
L/D: chicken stir fry (spring onions, mushrooms, mange tout, broccoli, cauli, peppers) with rice
Snacks: cold potatoes, ham, cornichons
Syns: tbsp. honey in stir fry0 -
