Not at all, if they need to go, they need to go. Rather that than in a plant pot. I clean all our bathrooms at the same time so what difference does it make which one they use (esp when they've been shown where it is). We have two toilets (upstairs / downstairs) - people should use whatever, it's what they are ther for.

If you are alone in the house then the bathroom is effectively your en suite.

Do what you like in your own house.

The issue with toilets adjoining a bedroom or dining area is that having a poo should be done well away from both these areas.
