NST - January. Bobs post bauble debt busting challenge

Spend day today, as I needed to do a small shop. Also had to replace my one cup coffee filter thing which had broken
Neither are bank breakers by any means, but annoying if focusing on maximising NSDs!

Still on the library computer - DS3 came home yesterday but won't let me use his laptop - says it has adverts and I will make it worse ('it got infected when it came into the house'). He did let me watch the Christmas Doctor Who though, so can't complain.
Paid off £8054.08 credit card debt and for all of mum's bungalow (will get some back but the transaction went through my solicitor as mum's bank accounts are unsuitable). Would have paid more but bank has delayed some payments by 3 days whilst they carry out security checks. This is after I went in branch and told them exactly when the money was coming, what for and what would be going out, sigh.
My January goals are becoming debt free and paying for mum's bungalow. 2016 goals are by healthy, be happy and have more fun.
Hope all turtles are well. have less than five minutes left on library computer so will post this and read for a bit, see what you have all been doing. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Mothernerd exciting prospects for you. Can't wait to see your debt free logo.
Nothing much to report. NSD 5 LTW 5. I picked up DS2's new iPhone from the pickup point, the local pharmacy next to a fish and chips shop. Was sorely tempted to buy some fish and chips for tea (the smell was just so overwhelmingly inviting). Resisted the temptation but when I got home I was still imagining it but both sons wanted chicken pasta bake instead. Surprised but relieved at the boys' choice. They've just saved us at least £25 of dining out budget and 1 NSD. Fought my fish and chips cravings by eating a whole 100g pack of dried mangoes lurking in the cupboard. A moment on my lips forever on my hips. Oh well, it could have been a big pack of Doritos.

Happy Friday Turtles!!
Payday for me today, so I was very excited when I got home after night shift to check my bank balance and discover that work had given me an unexpected Christmas bonus as a thank you for working over Christmas/doing extra overtime at short notice!:T:j
It has gone straight to paying off the cc and am now feeling quite chipper that am under the £3k mark. Great start to 2016 and it is spurring me on to get the rest cleared quickly.
Did my online big food shop when I got home from work in the small hours of this morning (we don't have a car so get it home delivered in bulk once a month) and had a £12 money off voucher so the total came to £84 which is good for us, as includes vast quantities of cat litter and we've literally run out of everything household wise, loo roll and all! (only 1 tin of chopped tomatoes in the cupboard, looking very lonely!) :rotfl:
Jellie and Bob, thanks for your words of encouragement regarding the hummus making. My food delivery arrives on Sunday evening just before I go to work (picked the cheapest delivery slot) so will have a go at making some Monday.
Hubby also went to Wilkos on his way home to purchase the cat food on offer with his £30 gift card that I previously mentioned, so we now have a months' supply of cat food for nowt.
Other than that, not much to report as have been trying to shift these bleddy cold germs and decided sleep is the best cure so been in bed most of the day except to get up and make myself another Lems1p.
Traveller - your son's behaviour sounds VERY similar to what my younger brother did with my mum when he was that age. Do remember that when he is angry, he doesn't necessarily mean the hurtful words he is saying to you, just that he is trying to manipulate things to get his own way. Carry on being consistent and strong because if you give an inch, he will then keep pushing you further. I am pleased to report that young angry men do grow out of this phase but it is tough going when you're in the thick of it.
Short bird - sounds like you are making excellent progress whereas I'm coming to a bit of a grinding halt at the moment. I will have a good go at catching up when I feel more human and get my days off next week.
Stewby - I completely dislike day shifts too, you feel that you are existing just to work instead of having a nice chunk of free time in between shifts when on lates or nights. Well done for powering through and covering for colleagues that can't get to work due to flooding. You are a trooper.
Lucky - that is excellent news and don't be silly, you're not "cheating". Am just looking forward to the day when the debt weight is lifted from my shoulders too and envy the sense of relief you must be feeling! :T
Fmess - 7 consecutive NSD, that's awesome, wear your badge with pride!!!
Time to get ready for work now Turtles, hope you all have an enjoyable night. I included a cheeky bottle of vino in my grocery shop, in anticipation of my "weekend" starting next Wed!

Absolutely shattered.....:shhh: I think I will have an early night tonight. I've had another busy but productive day and am crossing little things off the list. The first week back in school after Christmas is always a killer, but has been particularly tiring will all of the dh stuff going on at the same time - plus we have another visit into the hospital tomorrow. And I have arranged to register my kids with the young carers charity so that people are aware of what's going on.
Finally marked a set of books and I brought some marking home too so that's not looking as desperate as it was this morning... I still could and should have done more this week but unfortunately my time has just been used elsewhere.
Bagged another nsd :j
Planned the big batch cook for the weekend
dh was well enough to take ds to footy training tonight
Gotta take the good days when they happen. I got home and cooked and did a bit of housework - now I'm going to relax! Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Today I am grateful for getting lots of walking done, for time with dd, for salmon cooked in mango chutney (had no sweet chili sauce) actually being rather tasty, for hot water, for getting dd's presents wrapped and hidden away again.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

NSD today :j Tomorrow should be one as well as OH is going out to watch football and I have no plans to leave the house except to walk the dogs.
Cooked down the mince today but decided just to make chilli so 6 portions in the freezer and 2 in the fridge for tomorrow. Not bad from a YS pack of extra lean mince for £1.60.
Also cooked 5 days worth of dog food which is now sitting in the freezer.
Really enjoying getting back into batch cooking and looking in the freezer to see what I can make next.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend, and hope the rain stops soon. Not been too bad a day here today but absolutely tipping it down at the moment.

Hello lovelies
I was planning a NSD but have shopped for some additional cleaning products to give my house a scrub as it is going on the market next week
Also bought chicken pies for tea tomorrow and some beer for DH. After running around all day we spent £6.70 on a chippy tea. Haven't had one for ages and it was yummy
Tomorrow is a busy day with DS swimming and DH out on his bike in the morning and I have a hair appointment in the afternoon. Lots of cleaning and decluttering will be going on all day.Sunday we are painting the kitchen ceiling and finishing the house prep while DS is at DMIL. I hope to fit in a run Sunday morning too.
I have made a start on decluttering the kitchen this evening but still lots to do.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
