Happy Thursday Turtles!
Today I am counting as my 6th NSD
The cold lergy has properly taken hold of me now, so not much to report except that I fell asleep in my pre-bedtime bath when I got home from night shift (whoops!) and managed to make a batch of cabbage soup........had some for lunch with my pinto bean dip spread on toast, was scrummy even though I can't taste or smell much right now (might be all the garlic and pepper in everything!) :rotfl:
Bob - thanks for the suggestion about making my own hummus. I don't know if Stewby or TOG find this with working shifts, but I have in the past been guilty of buying ready made type things (like hummus) just because I'm so exhausted from work (or the constant switching my body clock around) I don't have the patience or energy for anything more than 15 mins in the kitchen where the food "makes itself" in the oven or microwave or whatever - especially on earlies. Think I'm naturally a bit of a night owl and get more done in the daytime when I work nights so now I am trying to stock pile the freezer so I can just grab, heat and eat when my next lot of early shifts comes round.
I have attempted to make hummus before but can never seem to get my home made ratios of ingredients quite right to my taste (I LOVE garlic but if I leave any homemade stuff for a day in the fridge, the garlic becomes overpowering and sour tasting). I am however inspired to persevere after finding about 20 GAZILLION variations of recipes online so have added dried chickpeas to my online shopping list order which I will do tomorrow morning when I get in from work before bed.
Dolly - the thread is not allowing me to post the link for the recipe but it is on food.com. I used dried pinto beans (which I had to soak overnight then boil). Didn't weigh them cos I'm lazy but at a guess would say I probably used about a tin and a half's worth and had to add extra oil/vinegar accordingly.
Short Bird - how are you getting on with January Curing the house? I haven't done today's but am finding the being told what to do every day useful so I don't have to think about it so much!
Printed off their Cure planner too and think I will try to use the same format for the remaining months of the year. The hubby thinks I'm a woman possessed since I started it, as he is usually the organised one out of the two of use! :rotfl:
Looking forward to it being after midnight tonight so I can check my bank balance/ make this month's payment to the CC. Come on payday!!!!
Have a good evening every one.

Hello all! Hope you all had a nice day! The weather here has been miserable all week. Wet, cold and grey! Nothing much to report aside from NSD number 4 and LTW number 4 yay! Dinner is butternut squash and fine beans in coconut milk. Not very slimming but in this cold weather, it is rather comforting. I'm grateful for
1. my lovely colleagues (saw some former colleagues now working in the same site, had a very quick hello with them but not long enough for a catch up)
2. Learning lots of new things in my new job.
3. My loving family for making me feel like a queen."There is Life AFTER DEBT."LBM 2009 Total Debt £49046.24 Debt Free as of 27/08/20150 -
Evening all,
SFD 7/7 :j This is my longest run of SFDs in over two years! I might not even spend tomorrow. Going out for a meal, think my mum is paying but will obviously offer to pay or at least pay for drinks.
I've paid my monthly payment to one of my two 0% credit cards, so now over £800 off the debt this month! This is massively helped by the saving when closing my loan early. I've already surpassed my stretch target
FU have struck againI changed my plan with them and then received an email 3 weeks later to say that they were charging me for leaving one plan and moving to another - even though they are with the same company and I was signing up for longer. I called up, spent ages 25 minutes on hold and was told it was a mistake and apparently they corrected it. My bill arrived today and there was a £60 exit fee on there! Called up and the man confirmed I shouldn't have been charged and the last person had logged that they had corrected it but hadn't, grrrrrr. He says he has now done a refund to my account but who knows if that is true. Did notice that I had received a £12 repayment from the government on my bill though, anyone else seen this on their bill?
Hope you've all had a good day, the weather has been rainy again and my local river has reflooded all the fields and is threatening to flood my route to work. It had just receded yesterday and I had noticed the fields were visible but now its worse than beforeLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

A spend day today as needed a few things for dinner for OH's DD and partner tomorrow. Batch cooked sausage & Bean casserole in the slow cooker. Will freeze this in portions tomorrow. Taken mince out of the freezer to cook a chilli and spag Bol tomorrow also for the freezer.
Boiling a gammon joint for tomorrow and should have lots left over for more meals. Spent less than £30 so far this month and still have lots in the freezer. Had planned my Costco shop for January but will see if I can last out until next month. Should have enough toilet rolls and washing powder etc to last me.
Ordered my blinds for the lounge/dining room. They should arrive in 3 to 4 weeks. Just enough time to finish the last bits off in the room and install the new radiators then that will be one room finished. Been following the Kon Marie system and removed everything that does not spark joy. Love the room now as there is absolutely no clutter :j
Hope everyone has a good Friday to lead into the weekend.

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been on, but I've been absolutely knackered with work since going back! Add to that, I had a blazing row with my eldest son
This may seem petty, but I'm one of those annoying people that does not like being taken for an idiot. We live in a 3 bedroom house, I have 4 children 3 boys and a girl. The older boys aged 16 and 22 share, my 7 year old, we have a partition in my room at the moment so he has a little set up there (the room is very very large so no problems yet) For ages, my oldest son, has been trying to get his own room and I've told him logistically it isn't possible. Last April he said he wanted to redecorate the room he shares with his brother and he was going to buy his brother a new bed as he needed one in his eyes. I was very surprised, as there was no reason for him personally to do this. This then changed to him, going to buy himself a sofabed for more space in the room as he also runs his business from there. He was supposed to take on a lease but decided not too in the end. Anyway, he throws out my sons bed and a canvas type wardrobe his brother had and bought two sets of draws and some rails that hang on the wall. Only his managed to stay securely on the wall, so his brothers stuff much of it is in my room  The bed for months was not being replaced when I questioned this he said it was being specially made  :rotfl: It will take 16 weeks! When this time passed, they said it will take a further 20 weeks and he can show me a receipt. I was really upset, because he was clearly lying to me and just took this as an opportunity to railroad his brother out of the room. I bought my son a bed and he was livid-that it was taking up space  We had a huge row about that at the time.
Fast forward Monday, he asked me that now my daughter has gone to uni , as he's the eldest and pays £100 a month (I do charge him a low rent because I don't want him to borrow, I want him to be able to grow his business without debt initially) He should have a say. He needs the space he was saying and is trying to make something of himself. Now, since he told all those lies regarding the bed, which I'm still sick to the stomach with, I had no time for this to be honest. I would love for him to feel he could run his business from our home, but his conniving attitude really hurt me as I always thought we had a close relationship. I explained this to he and he called me narrow minded and pathetic with no vision and other people help their children! He feels my daughter gets help from me (she studies away,he stayed at home for uni)but he got nothing (he worked part-time for a phone company earning approx £800 a month whilst at uni) and if I wanted a bed for his brother I should have bought it myself  Well I did, but you lied initially i said to which he admitted he did lie. It was at that point I realised why some people say you can love your kids-but you don't have to like them :rotfl: I was upset because he really couldn't understand how his own selfishness and lies has led to this situation. As it is, my youngest sleeps in my daughters room as she comes home a lot more frequently than we actually thought she would do, so does actually still need a room. I can honestly say hand on heart that I've done as much as I can for all of my children and he had a better time of it as my money woes kicked in when he got older, not growing up like the younger ones. He sent a text apologising for what he said and he didn't mean to sound ungrateful. Although I don't hold a grudge, for my own benefit, quite frankly, I'm hurt and disappointed and know our relationship will not be the same.
Justfome-I'm so jealous you've just discovered homeland :T It's a great series. When you finish it, watch damages!!! Truly Glen Close at her best and you cannot believe what goes on in that show
Spending wise, I have been good, but we have a team lunch at a pizza place next week  Not too pleased tbh. Oh wellAnd Bob is right, your credit score these days is used differently by differently organisations, so don't worry about them. Your only concern is that the info is correct
Have a good evening and sorry for the long post
I need to catch up on the thread

Yes, everyone gets £12 back over the winter - it's actually given by the power companies but it's some plan the government came up with!!
