"But should I raise the matter with ParkingEye and ask them to rescind on the basis that my car wasn't parked"
I can't understand why you didn't do that in the first place with a confirmatory letter from the AA or a copy of their attendance visit. The Ostrich approach has never made sense when there is a legitimate reason such as yours.0 -
Just looked and Equita are members of the BPA (interesting when you consider they are not a PPC), CIVEA (Civil Enforcement Association) and the CSA (Credit Services Association).
Would it be worth those who have received the letters complaining to them?.
Also, Trading Standards and Watchdog. The more complaints they get, the more someone will start to take notice.Never Knowingly Understood.

they could very well be "corporate" members , just like your local council, however they are not a member of the BPA ATA setup

My wife received the exact same letter last week. I said the same, no details, just a mass mailed scare letter. Told her not to do anything at this stage.
From memory she infringed the 2 hour max. stay twice at a Morrisons and once at a Tesco, all over two years ago.
I shall be keeping my cool, or rather, ensuring my wife remains cool, and see what happens next. My thoughts are nothing will happen. They are using the recent court ruling to scare people into paying. It makes no financial sense for them to actually take people to court.0 -

The Prankster has blogged about it this evening.

I don't know if anyone can give me some advice?
We recently received a letter from Equita saying we hadn't paid a PCN to Parking eye. Not having a clue what it was for, my husband made the mistake of ringing Equita to enquire when this had supposedly taken place. Turns out it was from 2 years ago. He was advised to contact parking eye so he emailed them asking why we hadn't had any previous correspondence etc.
We have now received 2 letters from Parking Eye - one going on about an invoice (which we haven't sent them?!) and another that ends with:
"Please be advised that your appeal has been forwarded to Equita and all further correspondence for the above Parking Charge should be directed to them."
I was under the assumption only Parking Eye could retract the PCN? That Equita are only a debt collection company that will just refer me back to parking eye?
Apologies if this has been asked before, I have searched and couldn't find anything similar. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I suffer with anxiety and am getting really stressed out with the thought of either of us having to go to court.0 -
Dear Equita,
The debt is denied. We have not had any previous correspondence from ParkingEye on this matter and therefore keeper liability does not apply as the Notice to Keeper must be served within 14 days. Additionally it is now too far in the past to know who the driver was.
Please therefore refer the matter back to the principal.Dedicated to driving up standards in parking0 -
Thank you HooHoo, I presume I just email that to Equita then wait to hear from PE? Any idea why PE are asking me to deal with Equita?0

after 120 posts , I haven't got a clue
hang on , is it because PE are owned by the same firm as equita , and PE are struggling to make "charges" stick , so they just harass you to pay up
but there again "no one knows" , until this pans outSave a Rachael
