Equita

Options
Hi all, we just received two letters from Equita saying that we didn't pay two pcn's from ParkingEye, they are demanding £185 x2. For a start we never heard from ParkingEye at all, just these letters this morning. What is the best way to deal with this? Can they enforce it? The letters say that if we don't pay they will recommend that ParkingEye take us to court.

Thanks, Terri x

I'd write back and tell them that as you have had no previous communication from Parking Eye, and this is the first you have heard of this, that the debt is denied and they need to refer the matter back to their clients.

Does the letter give any clues as to where and when the parking event(s) took place?
    Are you in England/Wales?
  • Nothing. All it says is that ParkingEye wrote to us, thats it.
I will write back, thank you x

I got three this morning too.

Is this just another fake collection firm used to intimidate victims?

The personalised franking mark replicating a stamp is a sure sighn that these are sent out in the thousands.

I reckon they're putting the pressure on since they managed to win a case.

    I will do some digging

Equita seem to do a lot of bailiff work , are there/is there anything you believe written on the letter to make you think they are acting as bailiffs?

They are also owned by Capita.

Would such a company of high standing such as Capita stoop so low?

This looks like a new PE tactic (there's another thread mentioning Equita similarly) to hoover up past ignorers.

@OP - could to photo/scan a copy of the Equita letter (front and back if appropriate), host it on Photobucket or Tinypic, redact any personal detail and copy link here - change it to a dead link by changing http to hxxp and regulars will convert.

thinking back to Wonga etc days , were they were fined a lot for writing debt collection letters in another shade of red , when it was the same company?

    edit: not existant companies

although slimy "trev" and his personal debt recovery company has been raised a few times , inc in court , did anything "official" happen to him?
