We need to see how this plays out. Today is the first it has surfaced. Not sure what's expected of the forum for instant 'make it go away from me' answers.
Posters can read the newbies sticky thread, post #4 about how to deal with debt collectors, as this is the capacity in which Equita seems to be operating. But the unclear issue at this stage is the fact that Equita are part of the same Capita stable as ParkingEye and this seems to be a new tactic with what seems to be a mass mailing.
It's designed to create mass panic, causing the fish to shoal for easy picking.
Advice is to sit tight for a while to see what develops over the next few days, keep an eye on this thread (and others that will crop up soon), those emerging on PePiPoo and read up the newbies sticky. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Hi all please help. I received 2 of these today. One in my name one my husbands. We went shopping at the range in truro in April 2013. We got there before they opened so were sent parking charges. I wrote back disputing that we went in then left when we realised they weren't open for a while. All communications have been ignored. I have received lots of threatening letters up to the October 2013 then they stopped. I rang the company just now to ask what letter was sent recently but he couldn't say as he claimed Parking Eye did it and he hasn't got that info. He informed me that this has already been sent of to court for action and he will add my concerns to the file. The 2 parking charges come to £400 for visiting a shop to find it closed. What can i do.0

We got this letter today also wanting £200. We got the parking fine in June 2013 as my husband put our old car registration into the machine instead of our new which we had only just bought! We've had numerous demanding letters over the last two years but followed previous advice and ignored them. My husband is worried they might actually be taking action this time, I'm however wondering whether to hang on and see what happens seems strange we all got the exact same letter all on the same day with no actual details of our fines. Surely they would've included some info on where and when we got the original fine...0

Also just received one of these for £200 as per the pepipoo thread. I was an ignorer back when ignoring was the thing to do but not since. Also have not received anything from PE in over a year. Holding off before calling Equita to see if anyone has advice here.0

there is a reason they have not taken you to court already , and now its bluff time , you do realise they make more if you pay that stupid letter , if you lost in court it would cost you less and THEY would be £300 out of pocket (not you) paying there solicitorsSave a Rachael

I also got the same letter today from Equita demanding £185, which I believe was for a parking eye ticket issued in early 2014 - the same wording as someone else posted.
I am intending to write back stating the information supplied is insufficient for me to have any reasonable basis for accepting any debt and they should go back to their client, parking eye.
The letter does not even reference the offence, when it happened or anything.
(thank you for all the good advice btw)0 -
